[Bug 1170303] Re: keyboard stops working after some minutes if openjdk-7 (or oracle-7/8) is used below icewm [e.g. netbeans, freemind]
This is a known bug with IceWM and other Window Managers. The discussion about this bug can be found at http://sourceforge.net/p/icewm/bugs/892/ The problem appears when you switch from the Java 7 window to another, or switch to another desktop. Once the Java 7 window loses it's focus, it wont regain it. The provisional solution is to minimize and then restore/maximize the Java 7 window. Then you can use text fields and keyboard input as normal, until you switch windows again. There is a patch that works and has been integrated into the main IceWM tree. You can see this bug was fixed in 1.3.8 by reading the changelog: http://icewm.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/icewm/icewm-1.2/CHANGES?view=markuppathrev=icewm-1-3-BRANCH Unfortunately, there's no release (or stable release) of this package version I can find. I'm also a little annoyed by the bug, but I also understand that Debian package maintainers have their hands full most of the time. I would like to know how to compile my own icewm binary to replace the one shipped in deb form. If you can do that yourself, maybe you could try to do it and test if that works for you? If/When you do it, could you share your results? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1170303 Title: keyboard stops working after some minutes if openjdk-7 (or oracle-7/8) is used below icewm [e.g. netbeans, freemind] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/icewm/+bug/1170303/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1175095] Re: No sound Ubuntu 13.04
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1180925 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1180925 Daniel, thank you a lot for the tip. Indeed, when I entered alsamixer, it showed two playback devices, S/PDIF and S/PDIF 16. The first on was showing a square wih '00' inside and the second was showing 'MM' inside (see attached screenshot). It always happen if you liveboot from ubuntu or do a fresh intall. (Same thing does not happen with Linux Mint, which is strange - both devices always come unmuted by default). After a little struggle, I discovered that pressing 'm' on the keyboard would change the status from 'MM' to '00' on the second playback device. Then I started having sound. :) So, apparently, it seems the problem is solved. It has worked with 13.04 default kernel and with the latest one from the default repos as of now (3.8.0-19 #30), as long as I manually unmute the S/PDIF 16 after installing Ubuntu. But if I turn the computer off. When I turn it on again, although the S/PDIF 16 comes unmuted, I must press the volume key on the monitor (it's a LG All in one computer) to get the sound working. If I don't press the volume key, there's no sound at all from the speakers. On Windows 8 (that unfortunatelly came installed), it works without having to press the volume key after turning the computer on. Maybe the fact the S/PDIF 16 playback gets muted by default has something to do with this 'volume key' issue. I don't know and any help debugging it would be mostly appreciated. Thanks a lot. ** Attachment added: alsa-mixer-ubuntu-1304.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1175095/+attachment/3688282/+files/alsa-mixer-ubuntu-1304.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175095 Title: No sound Ubuntu 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1175095/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1175095] Re: No sound Ubuntu 13.04
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1180925 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1180925 Hello, dear friends: Same thing here with the exact same audio card and Ubuntu 13.04. 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04) I don't think it's a duplicate of those bug reports, because I don't see the reported bug messages in my dmesg. In fact, the sound card seems to be detected just fine. But in the sound preferences I only get the S/PDIF (internal audio) and not the expected Built-in Audio (Digital Stereo IEC958). Thus, I don't get sound neither from the headphones nor the built-in speakers. If I live boot with Linux Mint 13, sound works right out of the box. I already tested my Ubuntu 13.04 with the main line kernel and the oem- audio-hda-daily-dkms_0.201305250346~raring1_all.deb, but no success. Booting with Ubuntu 12.04 did not work either. Please, find attached the result of alsa-info.sh script. If there's any way of providing more info, please, give me directions. [Bug 571506] Re: Network-manager connects but no traffic until process restart
Hello, the problem seemed to be with my router (3com). I have already replaced it and the issue is gone. Now I have a dlink and everything seems to be working as expected. [Bug 571506] [NEW] Network-manager connects but no traffic until process restart
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager Ubuntu 10.04 beta with latest updates as of 2010-04-28. Network-manager works just fine, except after computer startup. It seems to connect to my router (wireless connection), I have an IP address and everything seems normal. However, I can't perform any traffic, no even ping my router, until I do a restart network-manager or /etc/init.d/network-manger restart. After restarting network-manager, then it works just fine. No other commands or configuration needed. Just restart network-manager. What happens: Network-manager does not let my wireless connection work (no network traffic happens) when I turn on my notebook; It only works after restarting network-manager (or after disabling and enabling network with right-click on NM mini-app on the top right). Expected result: It should work at first, no restarting the process needed. How reproducible: Always. [Bug 375457] Re: Incorrect translation in South-American Spanish for Video folder
With all due respect, the word «vídeo» is a correct translation if you were translating for Spain only, and that's not the case for Ubuntu Spanish Translators. [Bug 375457] Re: Incorrect translation in South-American Spanish for Video folder
I know GNOME and Ubuntu Spanish Translators are translating as neutrally as possible so that those translations can be used in all Spanish speaking countries. And that is the reason why I don't understand the use of vídeo instead of video. I haven't found any discussions in the lists of these teams that suggest that there is an agreement to use vídeo as the recommended translation for the English video. I'm not saying that RAE has no meanings used in other Spanish speaking countries, I'm saying the dictionary is in the process to include them, so there are many entries that don't do that yet. For this reason I think we should not judge the correctness of a translation based only in what RAE says. I'm sorry to be a pain in the neck but I don't understand. It's more the quantity of Spanish speaking countries that use video instead of vídeo. -- Incorrect translation in South-American Spanish for Video folder https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/375457 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
