[Bug 1436911] [NEW] Report bug interface
Public bug reported: This is a feature request. A system-wide report-bug gui would be very handy. [Bug 1436927] [NEW] Scopes - (web)App communication really clunky
Public bug reported: This is a bug for scopes in general. Please move it if this is not the correct package. There is a lot of potential in the scopes concept, but I think the current implementation leaves much to be desired. Take the music app/scope as an example. If you want to play a local song you have two options: Either play it in the scope, or open the real music app and play it there. I think there should not be a distinction between these to. Playing a song in the music scope should have the same behaviour as the rhytmbox intigration in Unity7. Clicking play opens the music app in the background and starts playing the song. Music controls are still available in the scope itself. There is a lot of potential here. If you embrace this concept a bit more, the music scope can become your everythingplayer. Playing local music and soundcloud music as if they were all in the same app.. The scope is only the aggregate of data, the actual playback is handled by the underlying (web)apps. There is currently a clear distinction between what information and actions are app-related and which are not. I thing the scope concept really suffers from this. Scope should be aggregates of data and functions, not a portal to different apps. The music scope is not the only one suffering from this... ** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1436927 Title: Scopes - (web)App communication really clunky To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1436927/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1436928] [NEW] Music stops playing when on background
Public bug reported: Music stops playing when scope is on background. This is really annoying. There is a lot of potential in scopes, but bugs like this make it very frustrating. The difference between play song' and open music app is also confusing and an unrefined experience... I see scopes as an aggregate of data in apps and websites. When I click play on a scope, I would expect that the music would start playing in the actual music app in the background (but still show the play interface with current position in song etc) in the scope. The same behavior you have now with the Unity7 music indicator integration. So this might not be a bug to the music scopes in general but to the whole implementation of the scope concept. I also filed a similar bug for unity: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1436927 ** Affects: unity-scope-mediascanner (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1436928 Title: Music stops playing when on background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-scope-mediascanner/+bug/1436928/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1443019] Re: renderer process is killed on image-heavy pages on krillin
Thank you for your help! I have a feeling there are two issues here. One issue is the case of a page that has clearly too much pictures. Freeing memory of stuff far outside of view might and showing an error message be a good solution. However, I have the same issue after regular browsing for an extended period of time(10 - 50 minutes). After some time, the page becomes white. After a restart, I can browse again for about the same period, and then again white. I don't think it is caused by the individual page. Maybe a memory leak? Re: [Bug 1452751] Re: Connecting network jump is confusing
To clarify: What I find most confusing is that when you tap the network, it jumps on top without any notification that you have tapped it. Only after a while, it changes color. If you want to keep the jumping on top behaviour, I suggest you change the color, or put an icon overlay BEFORE jumping on top, so it is clear to the user that he tapped it. In many (obviously inferior) operating systems, the ordering of the available networks changes while you are scrolling through them, so the network jumping on top isn't a universal sign that you tapped it. 2015-06-15 9:58 GMT+02:00 Matthew Paul Thomas m...@canonical.com: It would be great if the System Settings network list *was* exactly the same code as the network indicator network list. Currently they differ in icon size, spacing, padlock position, and colors vs. checkboxes, so it would be alarming if one really was a copy of the other. Anyway, in Ubuntu 15.04 r23, System Settings, the indicator menu, and the first-run setup all have the bug described: when you select a network, it jumps to the top of the list before it has even connected. This is especially jarring when it fails to connect at all, for example because you don't know the password. That the network you choose should jump to the top currently isn't mentioned in the spec at all. It's a good idea -- better than using checkboxes, at least! -- but if it had been specced in advance perhaps this bug would have been avoided. Re: [Bug 1475568] Re: Use OTA terminology in system settings
I do not know if you have that power, but if you want OTA to die you will have to get everyone on board and present a good alternative that is both technical and catchy. From what I've seen, everyone is using the OTA terminology (bug reports, reddit, community blogs, Canonical blogs) and this is unlikely to change without a coordinated effort. I would hate it for the system settings to show one thing and for everyone to use something else... (which is sadly already the case) Op vrijdag 24 juli 2015 heeft Matthew Paul Thomas m...@canonical.com het volgende geschreven: Thanks for this suggestion. Ubuntu has never been competent at giving software version numbers: the Year.Month scheme is routinely misunderstood https://goo.gl/IVxKuA, LTS vs. non-LTS versions are similarly confusing, and hundreds of Ubuntu packages are simultaneously incomplete enough to have pre-1.0 version numbers but somehow complete enough to ship by default (dpkg -l | grep 0.). Unfortunately Ubuntu Touch makes this even worse, with at least seven different data used for identifying an OS version. I'm currently trying to distill these into a single brief string, that we can display on the About This Phone screen, that tells you most of what you need to know to understand things like whether a particular bug is fixed on your phone. https://lists.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone/msg13955.html One thing I won't do, though, is add the OTA number as an eighth datum. Not just because adding an eighth thing would be making the problem worse rather than better. But also because numbering OTA updates is meaningless. It made sense while there was only one Ubuntu Touch device widely available, but that is no longer the case. It is nonsense to describe, for example, an update as OTA-5 when it is, in fact, only the first OTA update ever for the Meizu MX4. Update and version are words with different meanings. This is similar to the period before the first Ubuntu phone was released, where engineers commonly referred to a particular version as Ubuntu RTM. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-rtm RTM for what, exactly? Only for the BQ Aquaris E4.5. That's silly in retrospect, because we've had and will have RTM for multiple other devices. If you see any engineer in future refer to an Ubuntu version using an OTA number, please mock them gently. ** Changed in: ubuntu-system-settings (Ubuntu) Status: New = Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1475568 Title: Use OTA terminology in system settings Status in ubuntu-system-settings package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: Describing the updates in OTA x terms is very common. - Bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/address-book-app/+bug/1437925 - Status updates: https://unity.ubuntu.com/2015/07/15/whats-new-in-ota-5/ However, looking at the system settings' about section on my phone, it is not clear what OTA update I have currently installed. * Is it the version number? [Bug 1474363] [NEW] Unlocking swipe is to easy to do on accident
Public bug reported: Use-Case: Your phone is in your pocket. You get a text message. You take your phone out of your pocket, and turn it in your hand so the front faces you. Expected behavior: The phone is still locked Behavior I get: 80% of the time, the phone is unlocked and I opened some app or menu I don't want. When you take your phone out of your pocket, the screen rubs against your leg and your fingers. This easily creates the sliding motion required to unlock the homescreen. The OTAs are applied to all devices The OTA number really reflects a minor release of the software The OTAs have corresponding release notes and bug lists for the milestone When a new device is released it is based on one of these OTA/minor release versions We occasionally provide what we call a hotfix which is a between OTA critical fix. Build numbers (i.e. r24) are only meaningful on the proposed and devel channels, not stable For the stable channel an OS version of the form Ubuntu 15.04.6 would very nicely reflect the minor release of software running on any device. This workflow works really well with an inbox and makes sure I don't "forget" an email. I know I can replicate this behavior using some more categories and better management of emails, but I don't want to change my workflow to be able to use my Ubuntu Phone, especially because my workflow is the intended usage of Gmail... [Bug 1585997] Re: Only show notifications for "primary" email when using categories
Since the behavior of this app differs from the official Gmail app, I'd mark this as a bug, not a feature request. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1585997 Title: Only show notifications for "primary" email when using categories To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/webapps-sprint/+bug/1585997/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1585997] Re: Only show notifications for "primary" email when using categories
Only showing notifications for "primary" emails is the default behavior of the official Gmail apps (android app), so I'd say it is definitely a bug. The solution posted on askubuntu isn't the behavior I want nor the behavior categories is intended for. I do want to see all my email before I archive it. Mails such as bug reports, mailinglist updates, new humble bundles etc. are important just not urgent. I should not receive notifications about them on my phone. They should however show up as unarchived, unread new email when I open the app or gmail in the browser. You can "teach" categories which email is urgent (primary) and which isn't. That's the beauty of this functionality. Having the ability to get notified for all email is a nice option to have as non-default. However, I think the default behavior should be the same as the official Gmail apps.

Re: [Bug 1440111] Re: Reminder notifications are not integrated into system notifications
Clock alarms overriding silent mode is default behavior in most phones.
