It's obviously an upstream issue. I'm not using Ubuntu now (I've switched to Archlinux) and later versions of liferea indicate a broken feed with a red No Entry icon so there is some visible indication that something is wrong with the feed. You might as well close this bug. -- liferea-1.4.3b

I've tested 2.6.20-13.21 and rt2500usb and rt73usb are *still* non- functional. You can establish a link manually (nm-applet won't do it) but neither driver will associate with an access point. I'm still using 2.6.20-9 to get wireless networking, with rt2570 and rt73, working with these devices.
