command line, asked to restart. I'm ashamed to say that I cannot
remember the root password, so forced computer shutdown on power

More information:- This all started last night when I saw a warning
triangle in the top panel. I clicked on it, this caused update manager
to run - this was not an automatic update notification as I originally
described. I think the update manager then gave a long list of (greyed
out)
and will continue
to look for things that I believe should be fixed or improved. I want
others can get as much benefit from Ubuntu as I do.

I can confirm that this bug also applies to the Edgy final release. I
tried booting: ubuntu-6.10-desktop-i386.iso on my system this morning
(downloaded yesterday), and observed nothing but a blank screen,
followed eventually by a Sync. out of Range message from my monitor.
Judging by the CD-ROM
I can confirm this cosmetic problem is still present in the Edgy final
release.

Are you sure this is an stty issue? I say that because ctrl-s and ctrl-q
toggle flow control in bash, but not in other apps such as emacs. Ctrl-S
in emacs brings up incremental search, as it should.

Sometimes moving the mouse between monitors will interrupt the screens

More information:- This all started last night when I saw a warning
triangle in the top panel. I clicked on it, this caused update manager
to run - this was not an automatic update notification as I originally
described. I think the update manager then gave a long list of (greyed
out)

In Kubuntu 9.10, KDE's document viewer, Okular, has ePub support. You
should be able to install it in Ubuntu 9.10 with sudo apt-get install
okular.
Adobe Digital Editions has the best support for CSS in ePubs that I have
seen. Okular does not seem to have support for ePub CSS, which doesn't

the problem is with sound (playing a cd) when the power management time
out kicks in and the screen powers down. The sound stops also. If I
press a key to restore power to the screen the sound returns. The
playback keeps going whilst the screen blanks.

I've created a slightly-modified version of marmuta's patch which
changes the default synchronization mode to 0 (no sync), rather than
preserving the existing default (2, full sync). Either patch will allow

Additional info: when working on display :0.0 the problem does not
