[Bug 1960313] Re: [snap] chromium crashes regularly
Thanks for the additional info and for the logs Chris. So Chromium was abruptly killed, and the logs don't contain any hint as to why this might have happened. I wonder whether this could be an out of memory situation, where the kernel decided to kill Chromium to free up memory. Could you inspect the output of `journalctl` around the timestamp when the crash occurred? In the DiskUsage section of the data attached by apport, I'm seeing that your /home partition is almost full (63M free out of 32GB), maybe that could explain this sort of abrupt termination if Chromium is trying to write profile or cache data to disk? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1960313 Title: [snap] chromium crashes regularly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1960313/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1948052] Re: [snap] some pulldown menus corrupted in 21.10
David, I wasn't suggesting to remove chromium, rather to install chrome alongside to check whether they behave differently with regards to your problem. Note that Chrome is Google's proprietary and branded version of Chromium, which is fully open-source. Chrome has some additional features that link to Google services. It is useful to know that Chrome doesn't seem to be affected by the problem, that indicates that the problem is likely to be with the snap packaging. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1948052 Title: [snap] some pulldown menus corrupted in 21.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1948052/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have tested adding a custom protocol handler in Firefox by creating the following entries in about:config : network.protocol-handler.expose.webcal network.protocol-handler.external.webcal network.protocol-handler.warn-external.webcal and I did manage to get a new entry for the webcal protocol, but associating it with an external application (either thunderbird or xdg- open) doesn't work in the firefox snap, because the file dialog that is presented to the user to select an application uses the xdg desktop portal which remaps the path to e.g. /run/user/1000/doc/9a5d9a5e/xdg- open. So I doubt there is support for it, at least as a protocol handler. It does seem to know how to import them from within the application though (see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1427588). If you want better integration as a protocol handler, I suggest filing a bug at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi#h=dupes|Thunderbird ** Bug watch added: Mozilla Bugzilla #1427588 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1427588 ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1960421 Title: webcal:// URLs do not open calendar application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1960421/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1954980] Re: Chromium showing Japanese fonts incorrectly
Sorry for the lack of responses until now Richard. The problem is not likely a broken update of the chromium snap, but rather the update mechanism itself that messes with font caches, so reverting to a previous version, while possible (see https://snapcraft.io/docs/getting-started#heading--revert), wouldn't fix the problem for you I think. I'm wondering whether this is happening when the chromium snap is being refreshed while it is running, or if it also happens when the snap is updated while it is not running? If the former, you might want to enable Refresh App Awareness (https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/wip-refresh-app-awareness/10736), it should help mitigate the problem by preventing updates while chromium is running. ** Summary changed: - Chromium showing Japanese fonts incorrectly + [snap] Chromium showing Japanese fonts incorrectly -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954980 Title: [snap] Chromium showing Japanese fonts incorrectly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1954980/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1959027] Re: [snap] Various UI and theming issues when running in Plasma Wayland session
I can confirm most of these issues, after testing in a Kubuntu 22.04 VM, with a Wayland session: The issue with the font size (2) might be caused by the use of the incorrect theme (3). The firefox deb reports in about:support that the system theme is "Breeze / Adwaita-dark", whereas the snap reports "Adwaita / Adwaita". The problem with the mouse cursor theme is that the gtk-common-themes snap doesn't include Kubuntu's default cursor theme. [Bug 1913775] Re: Copy from Firefox Wayland fails to be pasted anywhere else
Those are the packages that are typically installed by default for this specific source package. It is possible that you have installed additional binary packages (such as libgtk-3-dev or libgtk-3-doc), in which case you would need to manually downgrade those, too. The source package is called gtk+3.0, and a number of binary packages are built out of this source package. What you install on your machine are binary packages, but Launchpad handles source packages. If you need to know the source package for a given binary package, you can use e.g.: apt show libgtk-3-bin | grep Source: This specific update won't require a reboot, but I'm not sure whether it requires restarting the current wayland session, or if the fix will be picked up by individual client applications. @seb128 maybe that could be clarified in the test case? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1913775 Title: Copy from Firefox Wayland fails to be pasted anywhere else To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtk/+bug/1913775/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This appears to be fixed in chrome 99.0.4818.0 (currently in the dev channel), as advertised in https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1279532. ** Summary changed: - can't manually sort bookmarks anymore + [upstream] can't manually sort bookmarks anymore ** Tags removed: snap -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956888 Title: [upstream] can't manually sort bookmarks anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1956888/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

chrome installed as a deb appears to be similarly affected, so it's not a chromium-specific problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956888 Title: can't manually sort bookmarks anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1956888/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1956888] Re: can't manually sort bookmarks anymore
I can confirm the original issue with dragging and dropping bookmarks to re-order them, and I can confirm that the workaround suggested in comment #11 (disable "Use system title bar and borders") works. ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956888 Title: can't manually sort bookmarks anymore To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1956888/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1955471] Re: Why is Extended Maintenance needed for apps in Ubuntu 20.04.x LTS in 2021?
Julian, how can the end-user tell the difference between ESM Infra and ESM Apps, if the latter hasn't been properly announced yet? I am now myself confused as to why ESM (Infra or Apps) would be enabled at all on an LTS release that hasn't reached its EOL yet (we're talking about 20.04 here). Perhaps this becomes clearer when ESM Apps is announced, but for now I wouldn't dismiss so promptly a request to clarify the message issued by ubuntu-security-status. Continuing the conversation on discourse sounds good to me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1955471 Title: Why is Extended Maintenance needed for apps in Ubuntu 20.04.x LTS in 2021? [Bug 1851250] Re: [snap] chromium-browser snap cannot upload files outside ~
Thanks for testing, and for the feedback Alberto. Let's say it's okay to assume that the portal is already running and accessible through the bus (i.e. the ListActivatableNames path won't be taken − there's an upstream bug to track this: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1278336). Then indeed the problem remains for xenial, bionic and focal where the XDG desktop portal isn't new enough. But it's unlikely that a new major version of the portal can be backported to these release with a regular SRU, so it looks like a "Won't Fix" status to me, what do you think? ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1851250 Title: [snap] chromium-browser snap cannot upload files outside ~ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1851250/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
