Have you considered encrypted folders?
Hibernation *must* be disabled with encrypted folders, because the swap
is also encrypted.
It is possible to have hibernation with encrypted folders, but there is
a caveat: you need a separate password just to boot, and all

When you boot into Recovery Mode, enter the following two commands
before doing anything else:
mount --options remount,rw /

These commands will set Recovery Mode to how it should have been.

Would it not make more sense to fix hibernation?
I am not sufficiently technical to comment on how this could be done, but I did
come across this solution for Mint:

As Mint is based on Ubuntu, I guess that it would work for

LibreOffice menus do not dock in the top panel of Unity desktop

This is even worse with Precise 12.04, because even the work-around no
longer works.
Please, this needs to be fixed! It used to work on 10.04, so this is a
regression.

Daniel, in my case gtk-window-decorator is running before I start the
Wine program; but after the program has started, gtk-window-decorator is
no longer running.
If there is anything I can do to help diagnose this, let me know.

My touch-screen used to work on Natty 11.04, but does not on Precise
12.04

I have tested this with a Guest account using the standard Unity
settings.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start Scribus from the Dash
2. Click OK on the Scribus Dialog.
3. Maximize the Scribus window.
4. Close Scribus.
5. Restart Scribus from the Dash OK the Dialog.
6. Close
