For the time being a rather crude workaround is:
- boot to the live session
- launch konsole and do 'sudo apt purge ubiquity-slideshow-kubuntu'
- run installer as normal
Slideshow will not get invoked, so no need for PyQT5webkit, so no crash.
There may well be a command line option for ubiquity
Just tested in virtualbox, and can confirm the same error.

I have been running my main kubuntu machine with these packages since
they were staged, and have not encountered any problems so far as a
result.
In fact another tester has reported that, as it is expected it should,
it fixes the secondary cause of KDE bug:
Kubuntu has the fixed 16.04.3 packaged staged in ppas.
May be subject to a much delayed (due to developer availability
problems) FFe, which would include said update.
Should that FFe not fly, then can get a fix done. Or if preferred,
probably done anyway prior to that.
