device for me was created 660 for root.scanner. I added a local user on
the local machine to the scanner group and was able to scan
successfully. Scanning over the network failed. It only started to

I also seems to experience this. Except that apt-proxy is not really
hung, but being busy with something for quite some time quiten often.
Can you guys look at top and process from the apt-proxy user on the
proxy machine?
I wonder if this is related but fetches from the cache are often a lot

Installing libgnomevfs2-extra fixed it. I think I agree with Klaus
here. If the applet does not work at all without libgnomevfs2-extra, it

I was able to remedy the situation for me. It seems this was a problem
with flash as suggested in bug 64855. I replaced the hand-crafted flash
player with flashplugin-nonfree and now I can open all the sites that
were previously crashing FF here.

I think I probably rejoiced prematurely :-(
The tuifly.com and wengophone.com URLs above still crash the latest
gutsy firefox (I think it probably has something to do with flash,
though). yahoo.fr does not crash. I got things mixed up because at
least tuifly.com and IIRC wengophone.com did work
I disabled all extensions and purged flashplugin-nonfree. Then I went
through aptitude and search for any other package containing flash in
the package name. There were no others installed. Did all this and
restarted FF. the tuifly URL as well as youtube.com start page would
still crash

I believe this might be an upstart bug since it relates to booting the
computer and it occurred roughly around the time when I upgraded to
upstart from syvinit, I believe. I might be that this is a similar

I understand the plain acroread package does not include the mozilla
plugin, or does it?

I am experiencing the same problem on edgy with official packages. I
did have this problem once earlier but it seems I was able to fix it.
Unfortunately, I cannot remember how.
