FWIW, on my system, intel_backlight/brightness is fixed at 4319, but
acpi_video0/brightness is also fixed at 14. I could change the value of
acpi_video1/brightness from 0 to 15 by altering the brightness either
with the keys on my USB keyboard, or by using $ xbacklight -set n,
@loke: I'm also not sure that this implies that compiz is to blame. If
my system is functioning normally, restarting compiz never works for me.
I have to restart unity instead (i.e. $ unity --replace ), which
presumably restarts compiz itself.

Sorry, perhaps I was a little unclear. In the end, I installed the two header
files after installing the image and image-extra files. So as per the
instructions in the page you linked, I installed all *four* files. i.e. the
common headers, architecture specific headers, and the architecture
I can confirm that Paul's solution works fine on my build too. That is,
Icon=lyx.svg does not work, but Icon=/usr/share/lyx/images/lyx.svg
works fine.
FWIW, I'm not sure to what the default Icon=lyx actually refers. I tried
changing these files, but it doesn't seem to use any of these as a
Right... so that's what I've already done. I've already installed all
four packages. I've re-tagged the bug appropriately.

I just upgraded to unity 5.14, and I agree with most of the comments.

FWIW, I used the SD card reader recently, using the workaround of echo
1 /sys/bus/pci/rescan as root. Then, I noticed a few entries in dmesg

The questions are presented inconsistently, which always makes me
double-check the default answers. In the first question, the default is
Sorry, I can't test this. I'm not using gnome any more, as I've moved to
KDE.

Currently, from the fstrim-all man page, there is no output on
success. Hence, there is no way of finding out which partitions fstrim-
all thinks support trimming, and hence which partitions have been
trimmed.
In addition, it is impossible to get statistics about the trim,
Gordon, some Apple Mail.app users have told me that they can still see
the images if they rename the suffix. I suppose they have to guess what
the format is, though.

previously deleted. This causes many other programs (e.g. Gimp, Inkscape) to

Mesa 9.2.3 is coming out in about a month with Ubuntu 14.04, so it's a
bit moot, but I think this bug was quite critical when it was filed..
After the GPU crashes, I get visual artifacts in most of my programs,
with fonting look garbled to varying degrees. Sometimes they are totally
unreadable.
Seems to be fixed for me too with 2.2.0-0ubuntu3.
