A new Xenial kernel was released today (28/6/16) - 4.4.0-28. Is the fix
in that version?

Title:
Key 5 automatically pressed on some Logitech
I am now advising others not to move to 16.04 until some sort of
information can be gleaned as to what is going on here. To those who
get the problem, it can be really quite a dangerous fault. I would rate
it as a major issue.
To be clear, sometimes it happens ever hour or two, then not for a
I have a little more information which I hope can help to pin down the
source of this problem.
I turned off 'repeat keys' in the keyboard settings, so that no key
repeats when pressed down. This is a nuisance for arrow keys, but is an
improvement.
I now get single 5's rather than repeated
This is getting quite serious for me. Doing online banking and finding
amounts of very large numbers of 5's are being entered is somewhat
alarming.
What can I do to help find a solution?

I am willing to test a newer linux kernel, provided it is for xenial.
Or is this not a kernel issue?

wireless keyboard - repeating
A I said, this started to happen on a fresh install, having previously
been on 14.04. I formatted / and /home before installing 16.04 (and
then copied my documents back onto /home).
What sort of bot? Is it a virus, or a standard linux bot of some sort?
There's nothing on the syslog that I
I note that all the 4.5 and 4.6 linux debs are for wily, not xenial.

Public bug reported:
When doing nothing at all, the screen (eg an editor, mail message,
terminal etc) will start displaying '5' rapidly across the screen.

Hi again,
I thought I should at least try testing without any extensions enabled.
That fixed it on xenial :-)
The offending extension was QuoteAndComposeManager 0.3.32.3 (1/16/13).
Disabling this resolved the issue. My other extensions (especially
Lightning, which is important to me) are OK.
I have tried version 45 on a different system, running trusty 14.04, and
it works properly.
What can do I do help resolve the problem on my 16.04 system?
