Scrap that! :) A quick lshw revealed that the Realtek NIC was UNCLAIMED. I hadn't un-blacklisted r8169... Followed through by doing that, modprobe r8169, depmod and mkinitramfs. After the boot everything works on 2.6.27 r8169.ko, thankyouverymuch! Marking as fix released. Thanks for making the
