Update Manager Doesn't Work Anymore, Gutsy Gibbon 7.10
Suddenly the Update Manager has stopped working without giving any
warnings or error messages.
It tells me there are 18 updates available, then I check updates then
click install and it just keeps going in a loop

Thank you for responding Wolfger. I did a typo, the soundcard is the
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 digital. It is recognized in the hardware
under system.
The sound is determined at bootup time. If there is sound at bootup,
there will be sound throughout the time the computer is on and running.

I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. My soundcard doesn't work all the time.
It works intermittedly, when it wants to I guess. I have a SoundBlaster 5.1

After adding all the gstreamer stuff now I have no sound at all. also
added a lot of sound mixer thinking 1 would work out of all of them. no
luck and the so called streaming video is choppy moving like frame by
frame...darnit!

installing NVIDIA prpietary driver, system crashed, did reload, now
Synaptic doesn't work. I give up..This version isn't going to work on my
PC obviously.

re: USB HP OfficeJet G85 In Hardy 8.04
Ever since I installed this printer, it doesn't print or scan. When I
try to print, the job goes to the printer, then it is thrown into
queue (never printed) and I get a popup message that says printer

Hummm this is strange...nevermind I guess. This afternoon I downloaded
all the Gstreamer stuff from Synaptic...no change in sound til now...had
to force quit the browser when it locked up, then reopened it
restore and the sound works...go figure...cheryl

I can switch tabs with mouse but CAN'T enter a url in the address bar,
hit enterbecause I get a page of errors when I do. I have to google the
website and click on it manually. I can highlight text I want to copy,
then go up and hit edit then copy then go to where I want it and hit
