firefox 3 beta 5 on ubuntu 8.04 loads the CPU for 100% for random length
of time after the firefox has been launched, and one time or another
during the usage. very irritating, as the pc cannot do anything else die
to the full CPU load.

i can confirm that whit disabled Java the browser does not do these CPU
leaks, however, as i was logging into this page, the cPU loaded again
for 100% immedietely since clicking the Log In button and stopping when
page loaded.

Can Berk Güder's tip worked for turning the Subtitle menu on, but still
no subtitles being loaded.
i'll try it with the no-caps-no-hyphens file and subtitle names, but i'd
still appreciate if this wouldn't be needed, as previous versions worked
fine.

i followed your instructions, but it did not solve the problem.
attached you can find the generated xorg.conf with the extra Option
ForceEnablePipeA true line.
what i noticed in xorg.0.log is this:

thanks, i'll try out the new driver, and attach the log later.
for now, i can attach current xorg.0.log and xorg.conf after dpkg-
reconfigure.
as i am looking at the log file, would it be possible that the problem
is caused by the driver using Output VGA as the primary device, and
hence the LCD

interesting is, that when i view the videos with totem movie player, the
brightness level stays the same. but when viewing with mplayer, the
brightness level jumps up and down.

rhythmbox does not quit properly when running pidgin at the same time
with pidgin-rhythmbox plugin on. rhythmbox process has to be killed
manually (pgrep rhythmbox, and then kill procesID.

i don't know how (probably i installed a package needed to compile torcs
- maybe xf86... something), but last week the backlight was not turning
off.
BUT, after a upgrade, the problem came back!

i also experience this bug on ubuntu hardy heron. iinstalling
libflashsupport package does not resolve the problem; i'd call it an
other bug. please help as soon as possible; many users will appreciate
