Evolution
I removed the erroneous extra lines in the old changelog entries and
deleted the entry about the hildon patch since (as you point out) there
was no change from the current hardy version. I'll upload the fixed

I searched Ubuntu Installation and Upgrade forum with the word committing and
found a couple of items related. The problem is apparently fairly common.
The answer was to manually run dpkg in a terminal.
Somehow file qt_plugins_3.3rc is messed up and simply entering dpkg
--configure -a as
I get this error when I have filtered for a particular and the filtered
results are available in the mail pane, and I try to send a mail I get
the lost connection to backend error message. using 7.10 (Gutsy).

BTW I do like everything else about the program. Works great. I just
don't understand who would come up with such a dumb idea in the first
place. This Pop-up wasn't in the older version.

Some more info - this might be related to x86_64 as I have just
installed Hardy x86_64 and I did not have the issue with Gutsy i686

This is happening to me, too, exactly as described, and screencapped by
others. I'm on Hardy, running Compiz. Any luck so far in figuring out
what causes it? Btw, I get rid of it by giving a quick middle-click on
the desktop, as that causes the cube to zoom back in preparation for
spinning, and as

Same thing here. I get Starting Administrative Application in the
window list, which I presume is the window that asks for a password, but
that goes away leaving me hanging with a frozen update manager window.
If I open a terminal and SU, I can then type update-manager and it'll
