Disabling a wireless devices in the BIOS solved the problem. System
boots on a graphic sign-on.
After re-enabling wifi in BIOS system still works. The error doesn't
appear anymore.

days). Now every Fn+Key input scale brightness by 4 levels.

I'm experiencing the same issue on my dell xps m1330 and the workaround
of disabling smp in bios seems to work for me as well.
Since Hardy beta (x86_64) I'm also noticing a great increase in the fan
activity despite the bios version having been the same since Gutsy. Do
you think this bug is the
I also attach the same log as created in gutsy, where the brightness
levels are correctly scaled up and down one by one.

This is the result of pressing once Fn+Down and then pressing once Fn+Up in
hardy up-to-date on my dell m1330.
The visible effect however is going down and then up by two brightness levels.

to open twice the same text file, from nautilus or cli does not matter,
and two instances of gedit will be launched.

I'm in Hardy up-to-date and trying to enable spellchecking in epiphany.
In about:config I'm able to set the spellchecker.dictionary (I tried
en_GB and it and for both I have the relevant aspell packages
installed), but not to change the

I made a small init script in order to see if there are any unusual
processess with open filehandles blocking the remount, however I
couldn't spot anything on first sight.
I used the following script:
lsof
