I think it's wine bug, I switched back to winehq-stable and it's gone.

I'm ready to make more tests if needed.

[Bug 2055006] Re: Crash

2024-02-26 Thread guillaume le louet
I found several .crash files along with .upload and .uploaded files.
When trying to sudo ubuntu-bug _usr_lib_xorg_Xorg.0.crash
It crashed, too. I told it to "send a report"

I checked my recently sent bug reports. I believe it is
https://errors.ubuntu.com/oops/2a5a9e86-d46b-11ee-9d13-fa163ec44ecd
But I don't have the rights to see it.

[Bug 1383184] Re: Atheros Qualcomm Killer N1525 Wireless-AC [168c:003e] is not supported

I have a netgear X4 R7500 802.1 g/n/ac router with two access points
(one ac and one n)

network-manager can SEE all the wifi AP (both n and ac) BUT can only
connect to the n. When I try to connect to ac, it asks me for password,
then after some time request the password again. At this moment I can't
connect to any AP unless I enter sudo network-manager restart .

Basically I am stuck with 802.11n now.I also bought other WIFI USB
dongles with 802.11ac but none were working correctly.

[Bug 1467609] Re: vibrations on MSI gt72 2qe scren

2015-07-10 Thread guillaume le louet
I don't understand your question.
I tried :
 - default drivers from a fresh install : low performances
(xserver-xorg-video-nouveau)
 - nvidia 346.59 (proprietary, tested) (which I use now) : this bug
 - downloaded 352 from geforce site. same bug.
BTW I just had to reinstall my system because the 352 was not installed
correctly I think and made my comp unable to boot after a system upgrade.
So after only installing the 346.59 I have this issue.

This issue only appears with the nvidia driver, not with the nouveau driver.
However the nouveau driver does not seem to use the geforce, and has very low
graphical performances.

[Bug 1467609] Re: vibrations on MSI gt72 2qe scren

2015-07-07 Thread guillaume le louet
ok… I was trying to install the wrong BIOS
the E1781IMS.310 is for i7-5xxx while mine is i7-4720 . So I needed a
E1781IMS.310T

$ cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep model name | head -n 1 | cut -d ' ' -f 5 | cut -c 4
4

the bios is upgraded !but I still have this issue. I tried the 349.16
free driver instead of 352 but the issue is still the same.

$  sudo dmidecode -s bios-version  sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
E1781IMS.10T

[Bug 1467609] Re: vibrations on MSI gt72 2qe scren

2015-07-06 Thread guillaume le louet
(sorry pressing tab made me commit the comment)
Besides the various .txt files, the zip has a E1781IMS.310 binary file.
following the instructions here
http://www.msi.com/files/pdf/How_to_update_bios_en.pdf I went to
http://www.msi.com/files/pdf/Flash_BIOS_by_UEFI_BIOS_Setup_Utility_en.pdf .
I first tried with ext4 usb, then NTFS, but in both cases the BIOS update
option told me there was no available file system.
I then did it in fat, browsed my pen drive to select the binary file, and which
returned me a wrong file format error.

2015-07-06 Thread guillaume le louet
hmm maybe I was not clear
I d/l the .zip BIO file, unzip it on desktop.
It contains a how to updaqte BIOS.txt file which only contains a link :
 http://www.msi.com/files/pdf/How_to_update_bios_en.pdf

The .zip has only, beside the 3 .txt (which I assume are the same link
for different language),

[Bug 1467609] Re: vibrations on MSI gt72 2qe scren

2015-07-06 Thread guillaume le louet
I tried to upgrade bios.
placing the files on a (FAT) USB pen drive, going in the bios menu and
selecting bios upgrade I got a wrong file format ??
it also takes ages to boot when I plug in my pen drive. (usually more than two
minutes)
I tried to follow the instruction of putting EFI files on the pen drive and
booting from it but I just can't boot when the pen drive is plugged in, blocked
on the MSI screen with my keyboard blinking (blue or green).
It took me more than two hours to check everything and try, again and again.

next part :
$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version  sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
E1781IMS.10H
11/21/2014

I will try to upgrade bios again …

[Bug 1467609] [NEW] vibrations on MSI gt72 2qe scren

2015-06-22 Thread guillaume le louet
Public bug reported:

bought it last week, GPU is NVidia Ge Force 980M.
With nouveau installed I only use the small intel chipset ; I installed nvidia
352 from their site, and it works good for the external screen I have but now
the integrated screen has those problems.

The description is, like the front of the screen was vibrating. I think a
better term could be used, see attached screenshot.
As you can notice, lines are shifted to left/right on several positions of the
screen.

It makes the use of the screen very unpleasant. So I usually switch it
off.

I am using a PLC plug now, but the wifi is still activated and still
crashes sometimes.

I will do as you suggest, as long as it does not prevent me from
writting my thesis.

2013-07-13 Thread guillaume le louet
still having issue with wifi disconnecting.
All I have in dmesg now is

ERROR @wl_notify_scan_status : eth1 Scan_results error (-22)

Where am I supposed to get more logs ? That's just weird. It fails and … no
information.
I can't even use a free driver, as none is present in the drivers list.
I have to use the tethering of my cell phone.

Well, actually it may also caused by my router, because sometime my cell
phone also says the connection is bad (while I am at 3 meters from the
wifi router)

bug fixed using the
bcmwl-kernel-source
from
ppa:eugenesan/ppa

fix procedure :
sudo add-apt-repository --yes ppa:eugenesan/ppa sudo apt-get update -qq
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -yy

been working like that for months, the wifi just crashed once instead
of times a day.

Last time I think it was firefox

Well, then the mouse can't click. I move the pointer, I can use super
key to show unity board, but I can't click anywhere just as there was a
glass panel between the mouse and the applications.

I press ctrl alt F1, killall -9 application (firefox or java) and on
ctrl alt F7 I got my mouse click again.

I think this is a bug in the renderer library, maybe a race condition.

[Bug 1165806] [NEW] rename in nautilus needs to go to next line to select last letter

2013-04-07 Thread guillaume le louet
Public bug reported:

When I rename a file with name on several lines it does not let me place the
cursor at the end of a line, I need to put it at the beginning of next line ;
both should be doable.
With this behaviour, you can't select a word in a sentence at the end of the
line by selecting it : you need to select the beginning of the next line, and
it's not a correct GUI behaviour.

[Bug 1096853] Re: 14e4:4353 Wi-Fi disconnects then cannot connect to any network -- Broadcom BCM43224 bcma

2013-04-01 Thread guillaume le louet
ok, actually nothing changes, sometimes the connection only hangs untill forced
reconnection, sometimes I need to reboot my laptop.
I can't play any online game.

This is a total waste of time, nobody seems to have any clue about what
is wrong. I looked in arch forum, they at least try to solve the issue.

this bug was NOT present in 2012 in my case.

[Bug 1096853] Re: 14e4:4353 Wi-Fi disconnects then cannot connect to any network -- Broadcom BCM43224 bcma

2013-03-28 Thread guillaume le louet
ok, I did modify grub to disable ipv6 and the bug persisted.

However, I made a kernel update (two days ago?) and now my wifi does not
disconnect :
uname -r
3.5.0-27-generic
However, sometimes the wifi stops working, and comes back after like 2min,
while no disconnect appears from network-manager. The more I use the wifi, the
more frequent this happens.
I had some lines in dmesg when this happened :
 ieee80211 phy0: brcms_c_prec_enq_head: No where to go, prec == 4

There is another kernel update now with 3.5.0-27.46
I will reboot with IPV6 enabled and wifi n enabled, to see if there is no more
problem

[Bug 1096853] Re: 14e4:4353 Wi-Fi disconnects then cannot connect to any network -- Broadcom BCM43224 bcma

2013-03-14 Thread guillaume le louet
ok, didnt work with the ipv6 disabled in nm-manager, here is the dmesg.

as you can see I am also subject to a bug that seems to be related to
802.11n poorly supported. However I disabled 802.11n following a google
research :

cat /etc/modprobe.d/iwlagn.conf
options iwlagn 11n_disable=1

But, that's another bug. As is the fact that Xorg was eating 40% CPU
time. That nautilus was completely irresponsive, amarok could not stop,
the unity launcher had a bad behaviour and the reboot command from the
user panel was not working the first time (asked what to do with amaraok
then … nothing).

Sorry, but I think I have to complain. there is something fishy in the
network-related resources. it seems activities (Xorg ?) are spinning on
devices, and that nautilus should be implemented with Inversion of
Control and double buffering for the model. because here, when the
newtork starts hanging, the nautilus window just hangs and doe not
respond to anything, even the redraw() from the OS (having a white
window)

back to this ubg, I am modifying GRUB to disable IPV6 at startup.

happend several times again.
Google seach on wpa deauth reason 3 led me to

I'm trying to disable the IPV6 on the wifi connection in network-manager gui
Then if it does not work, i'll add the “ipv6.disable=1″ in the grub options.

Well, I use this laptop for work purpose mainly, I don't think I could
just let it remain on disk image for two days, waiting for a bug to
appear :/

hit me once more, adding another dmesg excerpt. The last lines, repeated
once in the excerpt, were repeated like a dozen times.

[Bug 1096853] Re: 14e4:4353 Wi-Fi disconnects then cannot connect to any network -- Broadcom BCM43224 bcma

2013-01-25 Thread guillaume le louet
Well, actually the disconnect issue appeared at first only when I
suspended my laptop. This prevented me from using STR on my laptop.

Then, it stopped (About 2 months ago, I think but not sure). Then, it
reappeared with the disconnection also appearing whith no STR, so I
posted this bug.

I suspended my laptop at ~ 6:30 am and wake up at ~9:30 am, I had no
more wifi.

I had new messages repeating in dmesg, I cut it and is attached.

[Bug 1096853] Re: 14e4:4353 Wi-Fi disconnects then cannot connect to any network -- Broadcom BCM43224 bcma

2013-01-25 Thread guillaume le louet
I tried to STR with the latest kernel, and the laptop did not STR.

I remember those old days in 2006 when I was able to STR my old laptop
to use it for 5 min, w/o having to hard reboot it …

2013-01-25 Thread guillaume le louet
I know I had many issues with network on December, but not specifically
wifi (ethernet could not start if not plugged at boot time). Sorry I
don't take notes, last time I posted a bug I was told to use free
drivers .

[Bug 1096853] [NEW] WIFI disconnects then can not connect to any network

2013-01-07 Thread guillaume le louet
Public bug reported:

I start my laptop, the network connects and I can use it well.

Then after some time (hours, or days) the WIFI disconnects and can't
connect to the network, nor any other WIFI network. The ethernet works
fine however.

There is a kworker process that hangs on CPU. NM asks me the WIFI key
several times, and does not success in connecting the network.

I then need to reboot my computer, as any service network-manager
restart or service networking restart does not work.

dmesg contains informations about an exception, I copied it in the
attached .txt . Those lines are repeated several times.

I think there are two bugs :
 - One in the WIFI driver that prevents connecting to the network
 - One in the network-manager that does not understand there is an internal bug
and keeps trying to reconnect, while asking me the keyphrase. NM should know
that the last connection failes because of an internal failure.

[Bug 1069269] Re: 168c:002b Wifi disconnects and can't reconnect until reboot, no wifi problem under 12.04

2012-12-10 Thread guillaume le louet
Hello. I think I am affected by this bug too. My wifi just disconnected
with no reason, and then I saw the networks but I could not reconnect,
it kepts asking me the wifi passwords..

Whenever I suspend my laptop to RAM, I am nearby assured I won't get a
working wifi chipset at the wake up. This bug's been here for like a
year for me. Only recently did it start to disconnect on normal user
sessions.

[Bug 1030259] [NEW] amarok badly integrated in unity top panel

2012-07-28 Thread guillaume le louet
Public bug reported:

This is actually VERY annoying.

when I start amarok, and it starts minimized (because I asked him) ,
sometimes when I right click in the top-right panel and set restore,
then amarok comes back with no menu in the top bar. Only the close,
minimize, restore buttons on top left.

[Bug 815867] Re: second suspend crash the computer on ubuntu 11.04

2012-07-03 Thread guillaume le louet
I still experienced this problem on Saturday. I happend to stop using
uspend to RAM and instead, let the computer running as-is. I had to STR
saturday twice, and on the second one my computer did not go to suspend
mode.

Christopher, why would we open a new bug when this one corresponds ? We
are asked to search before posting a bug report, then we should not use
the result of the search ? I think this is at the very least confusing.

[Bug 1015683] [NEW] wifi fails at (re)connecting after a while

2012-06-20 Thread guillaume le louet
Public bug reported:

CANNOT reproduce, happens occasionnaly (but forces me to reboot)

sometimes, the wifi just stops.
It seems to happens when I download much, and the wifi seems to disconnect.
Then, its starts connecting over all the network it knows, and fails at all. I
can connect on my personnal wifi with my android smartphone, but the OS cannot.
Sometimes I cannot event deactivate the WIFI/network by unchecking network or
WIFI in the contextual menu in network menu (top right, next to the sound)

When I do services networking restart, nothing happens but a stop: Unknown
instance:
then I do a service network-manager restart. The daemon rstarts, and stops
looking for all networks. But fails at finding ANY network.

Then I need to restart my laptop, which is the last-resource Windows
solution and is a sign of failure.

What I deduce:
 - either cannot support a heavy load, or a high number of data sent.
 - loses somehow the driver

[Bug 1011596] [NEW] avidemux not in open with contextual menu

2012-06-11 Thread guillaume le louet
Public bug reported:

very simply : I can't get the open with in ubuntu to show the
avidemux-gtk that is present for .avi files.

Took me like one or more hour, I give up and consider this as a
conception bug from either ubuntu or avidemux. Avidemux should be able
to asociate itself with file types, and ubuntu should keep the old add
custom command in the properties of a file, open with options, so I
could add simply the avidemux to it.

[Bug 789510] Re: Unity panel get struck and doesn't auto hide

The launcher does not hide bug affects me too.

Sometime, the launcher pops up, and remains. It is very disturbing since
the applications use the same rectangle and so are hidden behind the
launcher.
