I see the same problem on my MSI Wind U100.
The wired port works on 2.6.27-9. It gives the following dmesg | grep 8169
when booted without cable connected:
[4.362683] r8169 Gigabit Ethernet driver 2.3LK-NAPI loaded
[4.362723] r8169 :01:00.0: PCI INT A - GSI 16 (level, low) - IRQ 16

Bug 288845 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288845) explains that the

2.6.27-11-generic
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313081 also seems to be a duplicate of
this. But it is reported against the wrong package (linux-restricted-

BTW, is there a guideline as to which bugs to mark as duplicates and
which one to keep?

Can we expect that in the next time?

I too am having the problem. Running Intrepid Kubuntu (new install), Nvidia

. System does this 3 or 4 times a day. I tend to have 10 Firefox windows open
plus several others.

I solved my problem, disabled xinerama and used Nvidia TwinView. No more
issues. from my perspective this is a problem in the buggy xinerama code.

Had exactly the same problem and even went to trouble of sourcing three
separate install media (CDs and DVDs) only to find out that the WACOM
tablet was the offending critter. Mind you it would be nice if Ubuntu
could get sorted so it didn't require unplugging of tablet prior to
install

The backports guidelines indicate the package must already be in
Ubuntu's repositories. As far as I can tell 3.0.3 is not in any
repository (Jaunty is still 3.0.1). Does this mean it is not eligible
for backports?

Yes it is. Rubber doesn't still recognize the nomencl-package. The
Nomenclature is still absent if you proceed like the first comment
describes.

The adobe-flashplugin does not work on amd64 systems. That's why the
backported flashplugin-nonfree would be the only proper solution.
