We can't fix it, it's AMD:s responsibility to fix their driver, and
they are aware of it.. The same happened during 8.10 cycle, and they
released an unofficial driver just for ubuntu a week before release or

If I remove the nvidia-common package, the kernel install finishes
without error, but it is not really finishing.
The kernel is never added to /boot/grub/menu.lst and I suspect other

I have since gotten around this problem. It turns out my initramfs was
broken by having been built while libraries were specified in
ld.so.preload (those needed for dante-client to run in the background).

In my case, with a Phenom II x6 CPU, I get sudden reboots under several
different circumstances:
1. browsing with too many tabs (~30) probably with one or more using java or
flash causes immediate reboot.

very minimal that an installer must do.

The out of date packages are irrelevant.
Even completely up-to-date this still happens.

Sam mentioned in bug 874862 (comment #14) that he's worked out a fix but
it needs testing.
That testing would be much easier if there were at least a bzr branch
with the code.

I know developers are busy people, but I could really use some feedback
on this issue.
For the moment I've purged all unity3d and compiz related packages and
files from my system.
I am using unity2d for a desktop, but it has a few issues that really
make using my computer unberable. (waiting
72 (smspillaz)
Could you explain that ABI breakage problem again, without sentence
breakage?

Compiz's Sync to Vblank makes display
Update
It seems this is an upgrade issue.
Finally impatience got the better of me and I wiped the system clean and
started over, just like I used to do it in Winblow$ 95.
Compiz more or less works now with settings equivalent to what I had in
Natty.
