** Description changed:

  Good evening!

I am experiencing a weird issue on my HP (Elitebook 830 G6):
When charging via USB-C and the laptop is completely turned off, it charges
perfectly fine.

However, under the following circumstances charging was problematic:
  1) When the laptop is turned off, connected to AC via USB-C and then turned
on: As soon as it passes GRUB, charging is interrupted and does not come back.
  2) When AC is disconnected and connected after the OS has fully booted:
First, the charging works, but after a random delay, the charging stops.
  3) Booted new live Xubuntu 20.04 -> same behaviour.
  4) Booted new live Xubuntu 21.10 -> same behaviour.

[Bug 1948602] [NEW] USB C Charging Interrupted on 20.04 (5.4.0-89)

2021-10-24 Thread rolfinator
Public bug reported:

Good evening!

I am experiencing a weird issue on my HP (Elitebook 830 G6):
When charging via USB-C and the laptop is completely turned off, it charges
perfectly fine.

However, under the following circumstances charging was problematic:
1) When the laptop is turned off, connected to AC via USB-C and then turned on:
As soon as it passes GRUB, charging is interrupted and does not come back.
2) When AC is disconnected and connected after the OS has fully booted: First,
the charging works, but after a random delay, the charging stops.
3) Booted new live Xubuntu 20.04 -> same behaviour.
4) Booted new live Xubuntu 21.10 -> same behaviour.

Some system details in addition to the attached details:

$ lsb_release -a

Please let me know if you need any other information, logs or run
commands.

Thanks!

2020-03-22 Thread rolfinator
I am on the HP 830 G6 and with 'options snd-hda-intel index=0 model
=laptop-dmic' I finally see the microphone appearing in pavucontrol.
However, I cannot get the microphone/input working.

Currently, I have the following lines added to make at least output
sound working and *see* the microphone in pavucontrol:

options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=laptop-dmic

My system is as follow:

Imho it's better to open a separate bug. Extending this one doesn't make sense,
since the problem may lay in another package and therefore will need another
responsible person to take care of.
Anyway, I experience the same thing as you and @Kyle Boone (kyboone)

Same here on HP 820 G2. None of the kernels seem to have the issue.
If you follow my suggested solution from post #5, you won't have a graphical
interface, but a text console to enter the key.

[Bug 1500751] [NEW] Cryptsetup Keyboard not working on Xubuntu 3.19.0-30

2015-09-29 Thread rolfinator
Public bug reported:

I am running Xubuntu 15.04 and just upgraded to the latest kernel (3.19.0-30).
After upgrading the boot time is longer (what is negligible) but the more sever
error is, that I cannot enter my passphrase when I see the crypt dialog.
I just see the dialog to enter my passphrase, but when I try to enter it,
nothing appears in the textfield. I tried with the builtin laptop keyboard but
also with an external USB keyboard.

I thought about supplying more information, but things like the syslog
are not helping apparently (I was not able to boot until the syslog
would capture information...). If you need anything I can provide, I
gladly help.

The "solution" for now is booting the older Kernel 3.19.0-28.

[Bug 1500751] Re: Cryptsetup Keyboard not working on Xubuntu 3.19.0-30

2015-09-29 Thread rolfinator
So, I have a "fix" now in place, that is awful, but at least I do not have to
boot, kill and boot again...
I edited /etc/default/grub and made the following changes:

I commented out the timeout for grub, in case I need to make some changes on
the fly.
#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0
GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=false

But the more important line is this:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=""

So I removed the "quiet splash". This causes no Crypt screen to appear,
but to go directly into "blackscreen-state" and therefore enables me to
enter my passphrase (although, I don't see if/what I am typing). If the
entered passphrase is correct, I see the OS.

You are probably right, Steve. Thanks for moving (however I tried to
find the right project/audience in the first place)

[Bug 869635] Re: long delay at shutdown/reboot - network-manager doesn't close correctly

2013-12-08 Thread rolfinator
I am resurrecting this thread, because I am living with this bug since
12.10 (and I am now on 13.10). None of the workarounds work *sigh*
