I see the same thing on Debian Lenny (2.6.26-22lenny1) with Firestarter
1.0.3. Connections regularly get blocked when the event page is empty,
and stopping Firestarter allows the connection through.

I have what seems to be the same issue. When the computer is turned on,
the splash screen does not come up; instead it boots as though I had

I am the person that opened this bug. My main systems are Ubuntu 9.10
and this is still a problem. BUT, I have installed 10.04 in a guest
virtualbox machine and can, indeed, confirm that the Weather Report
applet is now working correctly the way it use to. I am looking forward
to the final 10.04
. Hopefully we might be able to help beta-test a bug patch or few but
my skills are not that advanced yet.

found the reason for all this :
I deleted old kernel from /boot and forgot to update-grub and to remove this
kernel from packages .
It seems that update-initramfs takes kernels list from packages and it was
expecting to find old initrd in /boot
Anyway , this is not a bug - I would
in welcoming people into the
gnulinux/gnuhurd/Bsd world. A role it almost shares with Chrome and Apple,
for all their faults too.

I can confirm that the gem works as well. Although I would not use the word
perfectly because the install kicks up a huge number of warnings that like
the sample following:
No definition for Draw_get_type_metrics
No definition for Draw_get_multiline_type_metrics
No definition for Draw_initialize
I increased the timeouts as well and can confirm that everything immediately
worked.

We have already tried a LOT of plugins. It is a very standard QuickTime
format so if someone could change the title to QuickTime not working in
10.04 then that would be helpful

tried the RestrictedFormats page which found 21 more things to install
but still QuickTime doesn't work.
In 9.10 and earlier releases QuickTime seems to have worked very easily

It worked fine before upgrading to 10.04 therefore the problem is with
10.04, not their site.

and the install doesn't really take that long once you have had
practice.
