Yes it could be related to windows management. I booted live CD ones
again, and it sounds (literally!) like the installer somehow works, but
hard to maneuver or check because there is nothing inside the faintly
outlinded window.

CD boots better with the line live video=ofonly and installer window
shows fine. However Ubiquity doesn't get much further. It freezes and
haults the entire live CD session. I rebooted live CD three times and
installer keeps freezing up.

I am in the Beta 1 version and have a related issue. When I boot live CD
I boot up into a somewhat coarse pixelled desktop image (not too bad
though). Installer launches but window shows only a faint outline and
nothing inside the frames.

Regardless of all the erorr messages and warnings this apple commercial
video streams perferctly, clear picture, audio in sync.
Can it be som enconding gecko/gecko can`t handle properly? Gnome/mplayer
setup setup works all fine on these sites in i386 iso.

I did file a separate bugreport for the 1.0.6 packages from Quantal, but
someone removed it. I added extra info in this bug report, even though
it is new version of gnome mplayer and gecko-mediaplayer, and firefox
14.01 (ubuntu canonical 1.0). I hope it is useful even though it is a

I don`t know where the bug is fore sure, but I have had the same issue
on at least three different computers. It is not related to 12.04 nor
powerpc exclusively. When gnome mplayer plays any video or dvd the
frame can go black (picture disappears). It happens regularly
