[Bug 1379531] Re: "Combine sides" should be "combine pages"?
Hm that doesn't make sense, neither as a feature nor in terms of the UI string. As a feature it doesn't make sense because - should I want the pages in a different order - I can do that once it's a PDF. In terms of the UI string, if that's what it means, certainly the current wording would not make a user interpret it that way. I guess something like "Change output order" or something like that. But if that's what "Combine sides" means, what does "Combine sides (reverse)" mean? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1379531 Title: "Combine sides" should be "combine pages"? [Bug 1376217] Re: Adding Gaelic (gd) to builds
Yes I gathered that while the label on Chrome/Chromium say OpenSource, that's only a veneer. The thing I find most upsetting about this is that Canonical keeps all these closed/outdated projects on Launchpad (even ignoring the lack of committing work done on Launchpad to upstream projects). There must be many thousands of work hours wasted because people see "oh I can translate X here" and then it turns out that X is no longer active upstream or that the translations aren't being committed etc etc etc. Canonical really must do a big clear-out of such projects. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1376217 Title: Adding Gaelic (gd) to builds To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1376217/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

To clarify, German is showing a mix. It has Asturianisch (Spanien) Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesia) Bahasa Melayu (Malaysia) Bosanski (Bosna i Hercegovina) Brezhoneg (Frañs) Which disproves Gunnar's theory because (assuming the German team is as efficient as elsewhere), I would expect them to have completed the ISO lists and so I'd expect Asturianisch (Spanien) Indonesisch (Indonesian) Malaiisch (Malaisia) Bosnisch (Bosnien und Herzegowina) Bretonisch (Frankreich) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1615374 Title: Some locales are showing ISO codes instead of names To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1615374/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1615374] Re: Some locales are showing ISO codes instead of names
I can't believe that to be the case. That would mean that German would have had to localize Uyghur, Occitan, Asturian and Scots Gaelic but NOT Spanish, French, Chinese etc. Unless you are suggesting that somewhere in those files is the native_name and native_country which Touch pulls when building langpacks and which, in the absence of a localized name show the ISO? That can't be right either because surely the fallback is always en-US, not the native language name? In case there is a need for a list of locales for Touch, this ought to be pulled from a Touch-specific file of ISO codes because it's very much hit and miss with those lists you linked. I wouldn't even know which one to start with and they all pretty hefty. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1615374 Title: Some locales are showing ISO codes instead of names To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-system-settings/+bug/1615374/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It's on a physical device, Aquaris E4.5 with the UI set to Gaelic (gd- GB), 15.04 OTA 12. There is something weird about the localized UI I just realized. [Bug 268953] Re: [needs-packaging] provide all dictionaries available for hunspell
How are we going to handle locales for which there is more than one? For example, for gd, there's a smaller, unmaintained one and a bigger, maintained one. I mean, the choice is obvious but there needs to be a process of some sort to select amongst multiple dictionaries. [Bug 268953] Re: [needs-packaging] provide all dictionaries available for hunspell
The bug description makes reference only to the OO extension site. But either way, whether we're talking LO or OO extention repos, the scenario remains that there may be more than one checker. I may be misreading the bug slightly but it sounds like the idea is to provide the maximum number of hunspell dictionaries possible - which means we can't just rely on those which LO or OO bundle because not all spellcheckers are bundled with LO/OO, some devs prefer to just host them on the extension site and (presumably because it's easier to maintain) the version on the extension sites are often newer than those bundled with the product. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268953 Title: [needs-packaging] provide all dictionaries available for hunspell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/268953/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1294858] Re: Installer does not install all language support packages
We had what looks like exactly the same headache with GIMP on Mac a month ago. In case it helps, here's the writeup of the problem and solution: Fault finding eventually got us to running $ locale which on my machine resulted in LANG and LC_ALL being blank whereas Partha's machine offered LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MONETARY=en_US.UTF-8 LC_NUMERIC=en_US.UTF-8 LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8 LC_ALL= After running $ export LC_ALL=de_DE.UTF-8 $ cd /ApplicationS/Gimp-2.8.app/Contents/MacOS $ ./gimp-bin It came up in German and following $ export LC_ALL=gd.UTF-8 it came up in Gaelic. Partha diagnosed that The previous default you had was C which mean gtk will always provide you an English interface. Partha's current build has some fix that means that the dropdown now shows all languages and implements them correctly. And Partha added: I use a script to launch Gimp and make all the libraries available. The script is inspired by Simone's 2.6.x script and modified for my builds. So, I set the language in the script and you all set. The script obviously creates a local environment and so it does not interfere with the User Interface language. Without the language setting, GTK will set the locale to C and Gimp will not be able to change it. [Bug 1390893] [NEW] Fresh installation of Ubuntu installs poor choice of keyboard for gd
Public bug reported: Apologies if I sound a little frustrated but I've been going round in circles since May last year trying to fix what seems to be a simple issue. When a user installs a fresh version of Ubuntu and selects Gaelic (gd) as the locale, it installs IBM 166 as the default keyboard. This is unused and unusable for Gaelic, I have no idea why this became default in the first place. The request and reason for it is as follows: I would like to request changing the default keyboard layout for Scottish Gaelic (gd) which is set during first installation of Ubuntu. Currently the top layout is IBM 166 which is neither known in the community nor practical. The layout of choice is English United Kingdom Extended as it requires the least amount of instruction and otherwise does not differ from en-GB which is the most widely used layout in the Gaelic community currently. The impact should be low as there is a tiny number of users currently but we're currently conducting a major clean-up of the Ubuntu localization (incl. faulty locale data) and hope to grow usage but the current default layout is a real show stopper. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181440 Title: Change to default keyboard layout in gd locale To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1181440/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
