@Dave Jones This issue is specific to 4.15: backporting a bugfix from a newer
kernel to the 4.15 series went wrong because the commit depended on another one
which was missing in 4.15. It's better to open a new bug if 5.3 has problems.

You should really add it to the wiki for yourself, *personally* i've
like 100 unread emails, half of which are people waiting for me to
review their code, so I really don't have time to add it myself.

Yeah, basically "stamps don't really work", they just work if you never
leave Okular user interface.
There's various bugs about it

@Cliff Wong, your problem should be fixed as well. Please try the
4.15.0-74 kernel without any i8042 boot parameters to see whether you
can use both your touchpad and touchscreen again.

Just discovered that the -73 kernel, due to being unable to load modules
on Xenial, uses PS/2 rather than RMI4 to drive the touchpad which works
around the bug in any case. Anyway, my problem is similar
I just got the kernel installed. As I'm doing this on a xenial-based
system there are some incompatibilities (it seems to be unable to load
modules, so GPU acceleration and internet stop working), but the
touchpad is definitely working again.
