[Bug 109943]

2022-02-11 Thread W-alessandro
This slipped between other bugs, thanks for the ping.

I'm not sure there's anything else to do here as I can't reproduce this issue
anymore.
Tested on 91.5.1 and on my mac the usage remains around 5% without spiking
anymore.
Also, if I'm not wrong, this is not a XUL element anymore but it's not a
standard HTML progressbar.

Can anyone else still reproduce it?

2021-09-13 Thread W-alessandro
Calendar is disabled by default on first start up, and it's now possible to use
TB without an email account and avoid getting prompted at every startup.
So yeah, this issue should be pretty impossible to reproduce.

little nit: this could benefit from a `vertical-align: middle` in the
folder props dialog, because the default value from toolkit is `-0.2em`,
for whatever reason.

562977-progressmeter-statusbar.patch

Review of attachment 9223784:

I tested this on my slow mac and the CPU usage spikes up to 60%, with or
without this patch.
Nonetheless, the UI changes to the progress bar are welcome as it brings
consistency to the interface.

I'm not sure I like the current style of the progress bar.
The height is a bit too tall and the border + bg color + animation + progress
color makes this little widget look a bit busy and over styled.
What do you think about:
- 4px height
- 2px border radius
- no border color

I'll see if I have any capacity later this week to investigate this and
see if I can find how to prevent the spike in CPU usage.

[Bug 1914379] [NEW] SNMP V3 Pdu request size not handled

2021-02-03 Thread Alessandro BESSI
Public bug reported:

In net-snmp 5.8, a regression has been done with SNMP v3 and the maximum size
for the session.
It's corrected in 5.9 and was working in 5.7.
I have tested the change and all is working fine.
Please see
https://github.com/net-snmp/net-snmp/commit/78bf0069ddd24ea0cc716421c53e1daf46da7002

Is there a way to integrate it in the 5.8 release ?

[Bug 1908757] [NEW] virtualbox-dkms 6.1.10-dfsg-1~ubuntu1.20.04.1: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2020-12-18 Thread Alessandro candeloro
Public bug reported:

after installing virtual box: `sudo apt install virtualbox` there seemed
to be an error with my kernel: `kernel headers for this kernel does not
seem to be installed.`.

I installed the headers: `sudo apt-get install linux-
headers-5.8.0-33-generic` and wen trying to `sudo dpkg-reconfigure
virtualbox-dkms` there is an error:

```
ERROR: Cannot create report: [Errno 17] File exists:
'/var/crash/virtualbox-dkms.0.crash'
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.8.0-33-generic (x86_64)
Consult /var/lib/dkms/virtualbox/6.1.10/build/make.log for more information.
```

and after `sudo dpkg-reconfigure virtualbox`:

```
required by its unit configuration.
  Using the microcode rev. 0x2006a08 - Ubuntu version
intel-microcode-3.20201110.0ubuntu0.20.04.2 - I'm not able to boot on this cpu
anymore.
  Doing an early-load update the RCU's CPU stall detector seems to be entering
in an infinite loop (see the strace in the attachment).
  This keeps repeting forever and it's neccessary a power reset to regain the
machine control.
  Performing a late-load update, with the Ubuntu kernel 5.4.0-52, the machine
crashes after a while (see the strace in the attachment).
- The Ubuntu kernel 5.4.0-54, disabling microcode loading any microcode -
adding cmdline option `dis_ucode_ldr` - makes the kernel booting without any
issue.
Using the microcode rev. 0x2006a08 - Ubuntu version
intel-microcode-3.20201110.0ubuntu0.20.04.2 - I'm not able to boot on this cpu
anymore.
Doing an early-load update the RCU's CPU stall detector seems to be entering in
an infinite loop (see the strace in the attachment).
This keeps repeting forever and it's neccessary a power reset to regain the
machine control.
Performing a late-load update, with the Ubuntu kernel 5.4.0-52, the machine
crashes after a while (see the strace in the attachment).
The Ubuntu kernel 5.4.0-54, disabling microcode loading any microcode - adding
cmdline option `dis_ucode_ldr` - makes the kernel booting without any issue.
Please note: I posted this very same issue upstream:
https://github.com/intel/Intel-Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data-
Files/issues/45
[Bug 1903023] [NEW] Lubuntu 20.10 cannot suspend
2020-11-05 Thread Alessandro Ceschini
Public bug reported:
On Lubuntu 20.10 I can no longer suspend since I switched to the nouveau
driver for my NVIDIA video card (I had to do so because the proprietary
driver was no longer supported with the newer Linux kernel). Now every
time I press the suspend button I get a black screen but the computer is
not in standby and the only thing I can do is to press to press the
reset button.
[Bug 1876294] [NEW] Sound routing is wrong when connecting multiple audio outputs
2020-05-01 Thread Alessandro Campagni
Public bug reported:
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
$ apt-cache policy gnome-control-center
gnome-control-center:
  Installed: 1:3.36.1-1ubuntu5
After updating to 20.04 I had issues reproducing sound with my bluetooth
headphones.
Selecting the headphones as output device in the "sound" section of the
gnome control center results in playing the sound from the laptop
speaker.
I installed "pulse audio volume control" (package avucontrol/focal,now
4.0-1build1 amd64) and manually specified the built-in audio profile to
"Off". This did the trick and I was able to reproduce sounds from my
headset.
Please let me know if you need more information.
Thanks
[Bug 1851490] Re: [snap] Favourite entry for chromium disappears with every update
2020-04-09 Thread Alessandro Dolci
I am experiencing the same problem in 19.10 (eoan), with the default
Gnome DE, so no Unity involved.
The icon disappears for some seconds from the tray, and at the same time
the browser seems to forget some data, such as favicons and most visited
sites. I also tried to describe the issue here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1223484/snap-chromium-randomly-flushing-
cache
Tell me if you need more info on this.
Thank you.
[Bug 1858810] Re: [19.10] Boot hangs at "loading initial ramdisk"
2020-03-16 Thread Alessandro Spallina
I had the issue as descrived from the OP:
"My laptop hangs on "loading initial ramdisk" at startup. However, it
start up without any problems when the power supply is connected 0_o"
I have:
* Dell precision 3530 with the same CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8850H CPU @ 2.60GHz
* Ubuntu 18.04.4
After adding the PPA
https://launchpad.net/~vicamo/+archive/ubuntu/ppa-1862751 an automatic
upgrade appeared to me via Ubuntu Software Updater with a patch at the
microcode to all kernels in my machine and now it works good!
Notice that i tried to boot with different kernels without power supply
and the kernel v 4.18.X was NOT AFFECTED, with that kernel my machine
worked well before the patch
Current intel-microcode package version:
3.20191115.1ubuntu0.18.04.3
[Bug 1811504] Re: scan with Laserjet MFP-M28 fails
2020-02-02 Thread Alessandro Pellizzari
Hi all,
just wanted to add my experience to this.
I'm using hplip 3.19.12 with the plugin installed, on Ubuntu 19.10 with
xsane 0.999-7. I can scan at 300 dpi in either color or grey, but
setting 200 or 600 dpi, as well as trying to get a preview, fails with a
503.
I also tried to add a sleep to the scan.py script and found it works
with just 3-5 seconds delay.
Setting `Input Method Configuration` to `none` the problem is solved.
Hello,
I recently bought the 1030 g3 and I noticed that on kernel 5.1.16 the switch
works by setting acpi_backlight=native as kernel parameter. Hope it helps
[Bug 1813471]
2019-05-22 Thread Alessandro Menti
Hi Wayne,
I tried recompiling Thunderbird but, despite adding the proper configuration
switches to add debug symbols, apparently the build process did not add them.
I can also confirm that the crash does not happen with Firefox (I tested
it with the Arch Linux provided package, version 66.0.5-1).
Re: [Bug 1821663] Re: [snd_hda_codec_realtek] repeating crackling noise after 19.04 upgrade
2019-03-30 Thread Alessandro
I've done many tests. The last working kernel is:
Linux IMEDIA-5204 5.0.0-05rc3-generic #201901202030 SMP Mon Jan 21 01:33:02
UTC 2019 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
while from the next release on, the system make noise.
The first release with noise is:
Linux IMEDIA-5204 5.0.0-05rc4-generic #201901272036 SMP Mon Jan 28
01:38:37 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Re: [Bug 1821663] Re: repeating crackling noise after 19.04 upgrade
2019-03-26 Thread Alessandro
Daniel,
your idea was right.
1) Using the kernel 4.18 the noise disappeared
2) crackling was from the headphones
3) Over-Amplification is (and was) disabled
I confirm I'm seeing the crash as well on TB 60.5.3 - since the Arch
Linux build does not have debug symbols enabled, I'm recompiling the
package to see if I can get a proper backtrace.
2019-03-13 Thread Alessandro Barracane
Hi,
same for Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Debian 10 testing.
Lenovo P51 use same sensor (Validity with id [138a:0097]), and it is not
recognized by libfprint.
in project  https://github.com/nmikhailov/Validity90#status, there is an
utility named "prototype",  that tests the sensor and seems to work
correctly, led and finger scanner works.
I have the same bug after upgrading to 18.04. I tried to add video to
the pdf with multimedia package and pdfpc-movie, neither is working. The
example from https://pdfpc.github.io/ is also not working.
[Bug 1786919] [NEW] Ubuntu version upgrade stops and asks to report a bug
2018-08-14 Thread Alessandro
Public bug reported:
The version of the package ubuntu-release-upgrader-core is 1:16.04.25
This is the message I get during the upgrade from 16.04 to 18.04.
It is in Italian due to my language settings:
Impossibile calcolare l'avanzamento
Si è verificato un problema irrisolvibile durante il calcolo
dell'avanzamento.
 I motivi possono essere:
 * L'avanzamento a una versione di pre-rilascio di Ubuntu
 * L'esecuzione dell'attuale versione di pre-rilascio di Ubuntu
 * Pacchetti software non ufficiali non forniti da Ubuntu
Se non vengono installati, segnalare il problema usando il comando
«ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core» in un terminale.
As asked I am reporting the bug.
[Bug 1624320] Re: systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries
2018-08-08 Thread Alessandro
I also think it is a blocker. I am a non technical user, I have lost one
working day for this bug. Dns resolution should work out of the box! I
solved following the instruction in this post - not even sure it is the
best fix, for now it seems to work.
[Bug 1779827] Re: failure to boot with linux-image-4.15.0-24-generic
Same problem here with T440s. I found a quick workaround. I put the
computer in standby when the 5 dots of ubuntu logo are stuck. Then
resume and the login screen appears.
[Bug 1769346] [NEW] Unable to install 18.04 server AMD64 with targeted kernel: initramfs-tools
2018-05-05 Thread Alessandro Tiberti
Public bug reported:
Trying to install from: ubuntu-18.04-server-amd64.iso
at boot: F6->expert mode and F4->minimal VM
I go through the usual steps but when it comes to the "install the
system" phase, if I select normal (not live) and then "targeted", the
installation stops with an error on initramfs.
The error doesn't occur if I use a generic kernel instead of the
targeted one.
at that phase I'm not yet able to install reportbug so below you'll find
what I found in syslog. VM running under ESXi 6.7.
Thanks!
