[Bug 299655] Re: [i965] Applications with a high number of frames or view movies in full screen mode causes jerking
Now I testing Kubuntu Jaunty 9.04 and I have the same performance issues. It *could* be the same problem as described in this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/303011 Moreover I have quite some graphical issues f.e. if I maximise a window or view images in fullscreen mode. Okay I've tested the newest driver 2.5.1 with Xorg 7.4 on Ubunt Intrepid Ibex. [Bug 214234] Re: Improvements for LIDIL printers urgently needed
I've tested my HP Deskjet F2180 with Windows Vista and the original HP- Drivers. What I can say is that the printing speed and quality of the output is definitely better with the Vista-Driver unlike Ubuntu / HPLIP. I've posted some months ago that the quality of the output could be caused by my alternative printing ink. But thats definitely not the point. At this point, I doesn't understand why the windows drivers are so much better than the HPLIP drivers? Does HP not working for HPLIP? How can it be as different as day and night? If I look at the HPLIPOpenSource- Website [1], the HP Deskjet F2180 should be fully supported! In conclusion, it is most likely a driver issue, because the printing quality is much better with Vista-drivers for the same document. Is there any improvement possible in the near future? @CrazySnowdog: Are you sure that the black color is as dark as it should be? Do you changed any preferences? [Bug 214234] Re: Improvements for LIDIL printers urgently needed
Okay, it seems that the too-dark-color-problem is really caused by the alternative ink and not by the driver. [Bug 214234] Re: Improvements for LIDIL printers urgently needed
Sorry, I'm a bit confused now. It's because I've tried to reproduce the failure but I can't. I've printed three documents with 300 and 600 dpi, black and color catridge and it works almost fine. Only the last one makes some issues, but it could be caused by my alternative ink (the others printouts are better and brighter; but in darker color than on the screen; but, as I've said, it could caused by my alternative ink). So I don't know where the problem really was. The printing speed is not as good as with the windows driver, but that's not the point for me. Could it be that the driver was passed on last time? I'm very suprised and embarrassed about that. I'm sure that I've test out all possibilities but it doesn't work before. Now it does. Hi Till, thanks for your _very_ detailed posting. Even if I doesn't understand all of the technical contents of your posting, I think that we're on the right way. You, and the developers of the drivers should know that I try to help (e.g. testing) wherever I can. What I can say for now is that I use a black color catridge. But I think you're right if you say that only the color catridge is in use. Today I've printed a document with red and black text elements in landscape format. In the line where the red and the black color was, the color problems appear (for 1-3 lines). After these lines, the printing quality was okay. If I use explicit the black catridge, it workes fast and looks very well. I hope somebody can fix this issues, because it's a big restriction. [Bug 214234] [NEW] HP Deskjet F2180 print quality too low / slow printing
Public bug reported: I have several issues with my HP Deskjet F2180. The printer is working out-of-the-box, but the following points are my issues: - The print quality It's too low if I use the the standard settings. The color is not really strong, its more light like dark-grey. If I use the Setting High Resolution, the problem appears also. If I use 300 DPI printout mode Black / Color the black color is great and strong but the other colors are not. If I use 600 DPI, the printer use too much ink, it has to dry a few seconds. So I can't use a setting where all colors are strong. - Printing speed The printing speed is very bad. Only if I use the setting Draft he prints in normal speed (but then there are color problems; see above). I know the standard speed because I've used this printer with Windows before and it works fine (colors speed). - Size There are problems with the size in printings, for example in OpenOffice if I want to print a handout or in Firefox. [Bug 198833] Re: OOo writer locks up the whole system
Oh I forget to answer to Chris' questions: I had the same problems while using the LiveCD, but sometimes it freezes only if I ran the live CD, not only by using OOo. But these problems are not always present, now only if I use OOo... I can't say if this is a problem of OOo or of something else which depend on OOo?! Because a few weeks ago, sometimes the system freezes on gnome-startup. [Bug 198833] Re: OOo writer locks up the whole system
Hi, I can confirm this bug on Ubuntu Hardy with a Toshiba Satellite P200-1E9 (Intel Core2Duo) and GM965 Graphics Controller. I think it depends on OpenOffice.org because these freezes are often cause while I use OOo Writer, Impress or something else. It could be a problem of Compiz or my graphic card, but I'm not really sure where to look. I can't find any useful information in the logs. [Bug 196084] [NEW] Hardy alternate install problem with dm-crypt luks
Public bug reported: Hi there, I've tried to install Hardy Alpha 5 with an alternate cd. But I couldn't make a full system encryption. Here are my steps: 1) I've deleted the whole partition table and made a new one 2) Make a new boot partition with ext3 for /boot with boot-flag 3) Make a new partition with encryption 4) Configure encrypted devices First he set up the new boot partition. After that appears the problem (something like this failure-message): Sorry, I can't configure the encryption because there is system data left on the partition. It only works with this steps: 1) Steps 12 above 2) Make a new partition with ext3 full formatting 3) Abort installation after successful formatting 4) Restart installation and change the ext3 partition to an encrypted device. If you do the steps above, the failure doesn't appear. For your information: There was no system data or any type of data left on my hard drive / partition. [Bug 195774] [NEW] GDM login mask changed to wrong design
Public bug reported: If you choose and install a login window (I mean a different login mask / design) first time, he often switch from the new selected to Circles GNOME (the blue one with a sunflower and Face Browser) and Happy-Gnome. He also activate the option Theme: Random selected. This Bug appears only (and not always!) if you click on Close and doesn't appear while activating or installing the new login mask. It would be fine if some people can try to install a new GDM login mask (e.g. from www.gnome-look.org) and can confirm this bug. Workaround: 1) Download a GDM login mask (e.g. www.gnome-look.org) 2) Open System - Configuration (?) - Login window 3) Click on the Local tab - then click Add and choose the GDM mask you've downloaded before 4) Activate it and then click on Close and logout. If the wrong GDM mask appears, open the login window configuration GUI again and change the option Random from selected to Selected only and - choose the right login mask. Now it works fine. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: change gdm login -- GDM login mask changed to wrong design https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195774 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
