[Bug 1572106] [NEW] deja-dup needs expressions for ignored-folders

2016-04-19 Thread BeowulfOF
Public bug reported:

At least I would really appreciate (and I bet all developers out there
as well), if deja-dup would allow to have glob-expressions or regular
expressions for ignored-folders.

On a normal installation it is really a pain in the a** to sort out all those
.cache
.obj
tmp/*
build/*

especially, since those will be generated dynamically during the day.
There's absolutely no need to back those up, but the frontend now only
allows for specific pathes to be entered on ignore list.

Please add this feature.

[Bug 1498355] Re: USB devices gratefully ignored

2015-09-22 Thread BeowulfOF
@Joseph, I can't really remember if there was a kernel upgrade shortly.
Sadly, my logs are only on tmpfs, so I can't even tell what upgrade
packages have been installed in the last days. I'll test out the
kernels, that are still installed, maybe 2-3 versions are still in grub
configured, to see if the problem exists on those as well.

[Bug 1487525] [NEW] Dell 1525 wakes up on opening the lid, but keyboard takes ages to react

2015-08-21 Thread BeowulfOF
Public bug reported:

What happens:
When the lid is closed, ubuntu gets into a sleep state.

When I open the lid, the system recovers from sleep, the display shows
the screensaver, but the keyboard does not react on any input. I'll have
to wait several minutes, bevore the keyboard accepts input and I can log
in again. Mouse works normal.

What should happen:
When I open the lid, the system should recover normally and the keyboard should
accept input to let me log in.

[Bug 1380996] [NEW] File size for backups not user-defineable

2014-10-14 Thread BeowulfOF
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS

Deja-Dup still has file size for backups hard-coded?!? but not user-defined.

It is allways good to have a standard that fits for most user, but the
ability to define custom sizes for file size in backup without having to
rewrite the whole program would be nice.

Please make the filesize for the backups an option in settings tab.

Upon every run of backup, I get the error-message that the file
"/home/beowulf/.cache/dconf" could not be backuped. So far no problem,
but In the settings I have set the folder "~/.cache" as part of the

The file should not even be tried to be backuped as the folder is part

[Bug 1320112] [NEW] With Multi-Screen mouse pointer sticks at the wrong side of the launcher

2014-05-16 Thread BeowulfOF
Public bug reported:

When using Unity with multiple Screens (2 in my case) the mousepointer
is sticky at the edge between the two screens. The second screen is
attached, to the right side of the first.

While moving the mouse from the left screen, to the right, it is stopped
on the edge. Thereby the mousepointer is shown on the right screen over
the launcher, but still sticks to the left screen.

This is very annoying, since haptic does not match optic in that case.

[Bug 1247793] [NEW] indicator-applet does not show all applets reliably

2013-11-04 Thread BeowulfOF
Public bug reported:

beowulfk:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 13.10

beowulf:~$ apt-cache policy indicator-applet

500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy/universe amd64 Packages

Upon fresh install of 13.10 the indicator-applet did not show the datestamp,
but the applet for the user-settings and logoff. The System-Settings for
showing the clock in the applet area were set to active, but the mask was
greyed out - so the clock should have been shown.
After a restart, the clock is shown in the top right, but the applet for
User-Settings-Logoff does not appear anymore.

This behaviour does not seem to be reproductive in a forcefull manner.
But people are talking about random icons showing up or not on system
startup. Here a link to a german thread about this:

[Bug 1088185] Re: kernel hangs on boot with btrfs

2012-12-11 Thread BeowulfOF
Yes, I had tested this with the latest upstream kernel, but I could'nt
get apport to file a bug while having the the upstream kernel installed.
It was of no change.

Anyway, I do not have the btrfs-filesystem as my root system anymore,
since I do have to use the system (even not productive), and while it
does not boot, i can't.

So, just bootet with upstream kernel after working with windows7 and the

[Bug 1078611] [NEW] System hangs on boot cause of wifi errors

2012-11-14 Thread BeowulfOF
Public bug reported:

Tried to just boot up the system as normally. But the systems stops
booting. Using [CTRL]+[ALT]+[DEL] to initiate reboot, lets the system
shut down, showing some debug(?) message vom iwlwifi.

Somehow I have the feeling, that whenever I boot into windows7, it does
something with the firmware of the wifi and ubuntu does not get things
right on boot. After reboot it usually works, so it seems ubuntu changes
some settings in the firmware maybe, so that at the next start it can
initialize wifi right away (but thats just a feeling).

Seems I missed something. I did not recognize any change since
subscribed to this bug. Window management is still unexpected as before

In liferea the counter on "unread message" or "Ungelesen" in german

In the picture attached, you can see, that I've just read the last RSS
item, the counter stays on 6, while it should show 0.

3) Adjusting the sound-level up and down with the function keys

[Bug 965524] [NEW] Unity flickers and does not handly window-design correctly

2012-03-26 Thread BeowulfOF
Public bug reported:

beowulf@seashell:~$ lsb_release -rd

3) Normal desktop handling.

4) Unity Launcher flickers extremly as the mouse hovers over it or any
window-movement/creation is running. The top window-design (mostly the
area for the tab-bar) is not showing up correctly, but half "overlayed"
with a flickering black/white. Any action on the windows reflects in a
wild flickering desktop that hurts the eyes.

Anyway, this all happens only since the last update, because before that
all was fine.

[Bug 888438] Re: Update-manager window does behave abnormal under unity

2011-11-28 Thread BeowulfOF
Not so easy, cause you will have to wait till update-manager pops up
with a notification for new updates.

But if it pops up, just try [alt]+[tab] to recognize, that it has opened
at the front, but not activated the window. If you were working in
fullscreen in e.g. firefox you don't get back to firefox with
[alt]+[tab] since you first change to the update-manager window at the
front.

I didn't test out how it reacts if i start update-manager manually.

[Bug 888438] [NEW] Update-manager window does behave abnormal under unity

2011-11-10 Thread BeowulfOF
Public bug reported:

beowulf@seashell:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 11.10
Release:11.10
beowulf@seashell:~$ apt-cache policy update-manager
update-manager:
  Installiert: 1:0.152.25.4
  Kandidat:1:0.152.25.4
  Versionstabelle:
 *** 1:0.152.25.4 0

 1:0.152.25 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages

update-manager does behave annoying under unity, since it pops up to
front, but does not activate its window. If the user is active in e.g.
Firefox while update-manager pops up, you cannot just switch [alt]+[tab]
to get back to firefox, because you still are in active firefox but have
the update-manager window in front. You have to activate the update-
manager window first before you can change back to firefox or hide the
window of update-manager.

I'd expect, that wenn update-manager pops up its window, it activates
the window. There's no point in having a window popping up to front when
it is not activated. Ideally update-manager should not pop up to front
but use the urgent-messaging type of unity to show that there is
something going on.

[Bug 879836] Re: network-manager does ignore the saved network-secret and asks for authentication every startup

2011-10-26 Thread BeowulfOF
Just looked over it.

It is set to auto-connect, the checkbox to make it available to all
users is not enabled, so i cannot change it to that. Definetly I created
that connection with the same user on the previous system, then upgraded
the system. Maybe theres the dragon hidden, during the upgrade went the
information lost, that it this connection-secret is stored in this users
keyring?

Every time i log on/ wake up from suspend, Network-manager asks for my
network keyword, although it is stored and worked fine until the upgrade
to 11.10.

I also filed Bug #874920 because Evolution showed up with the same
failure, but does not any more. So only network manager seems to be
unable to read the secret till now.

[Bug 874920] Re: gnome keyring does not work - no passwords are decrypted

2011-10-17 Thread BeowulfOF
I'm sorry and going to provide the needed information for you.

I log in via LightDM to a default Unity-Session. No auto-login. Then
open Evolution to check my mail.

Normally Network-Manager should establish a connection to my WLAN with
the saved password out of gnome-keyring, as well as evolution to fetch
my mail with the credentials saved in the gnome-keyring.

Instead evolution asks me to enter my passwords, as Network-Manager
requires me too.

Output of ck-list-sessions:
beowulf@seashell:~$ ck-list-sessions
Session2:

realname = '[REALNAME]'
seat = 'Seat1'
session-type = ''

is-local = TRUE

unity --reset does solve the problem! it seems pretty heavy what is
going on with it although.

seems the problem occurs after wake up from suspend/sleep mode.

2011-09-24 Thread BeowulfOF
The reset command seems pretty heavy...

somehow it does not work, but somehow this is strange...

since two days no update but wine has come. unity-launcher does show up
sporadically, but it seems i can't exactly tell the matter why it hides
or not. At the moment it works like expected, though no update has been
made.

i'll go and try unity --reset next time it does not respond.

The unity launcher only comes up if I minimize all my windows and then move the
mouse to the left border. If any window is open and maximized, I can't get the
launcher to show up.
This behaviour can be seen if the launcher is configured as "Autohide", "Dodge
Windows" and "Dodge Active Windows", even if the active window is not maximized
but an inactive Window is maximized beneath.
