I went through a fresh install. Here are the details:
Using a new image of Ubuntu 21.10.
Download ISO. Verify using checksum. Use "USB Image writer" on virgin 32GB
Stick. gdisk shows stick has 3 partitions: Basic, EFI, and Basic. MBR is
protective, GPT is present.
Format 120GB SSD to Fat32.

I never tested it on 19.04 but I'm sure that I would have tripped over it if
there was a problem.
I have been using 9.10 regularly now for about 2 weeks. (I noticed that Gnome
went from 3.33xxx to 3.34.1). The problem reported is no longer present.

I get the same problem with a Photosmart D7160 HP printer set for Draft and
DoubleSided. Normal quality and Doublesided is OK.
Ubuntu 9.04 with all updates. 32 bit.
Printing anything stalls the printer after it finishes side one. Finally, after
5 minutes, the printer cancels the job.

I'm posting Xorg.0.log and Xorg.1.log
0 seems to detect the monitor but 1 fails the probe. Perhaps this is why
the Ubunto logo screen seems to be at 1024x768 but then when my desktop comes
up it's at 640x480.
