By default there is always some cache for http:// or local urls unless
nocache=1 in the
embed tag (there is a recent fix which upstream made to enforce this better).
If you don' t think this is a good behaviour I suggest you pick it up with

I can' t actually reproduce it on my system, but I wonder if this could be
caused by the reverse DNS loockup taking too long (just a wild guess, it
shouldn't do this since it should be threaded), in which case it could be an
issue with your IP provider.

I did look at this with some more details.
I think your problem is that you use own_window_type desktop. This just sets
the _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_DESKTOP atom, which apparently metacity and beryl
handle by stealing the focus if you click on the desktop.

Hmmm, I don' t think we will get a backtrace from apport. The only thing I can
suggest is for Mikaell to install the gnome-mplayer-dbg package, see if he can
reproduce the crash and eventually get it from him (following for instance
these instructions: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace).

Yeah, I was testing with 0.9.9.2, so, it looks like it is an mplayer
problem.
