[Bug 1097946] Re: software-center crashed with TransactionFailed in _run_transaction(): unprintable TransactionFailed object

2014-03-28 Thread David Nelson
I was trying to install Banshee through the Ubuntu Software Center. I
selected all the addons and clicked on the 'Update settings' (or
something similar to that wording, can't remember exactly). Got an
unmet-dependencies error. When, instead, I clicked on the Install button
(to install the main Banshee application), everything went fine.

2010-07-18 Thread David Nelson
I tried the dpkg --purge and cleaned the apt cache but it still does not
resolve the problem...

As a reminder, this problem originally occurred when my internet
connection went down following a power outage during the upgrade from
9.10 to 10.04 (i'm on a laptop, so the computer was still working). I
had to do a power off/power on to restart the system at that time...

If you're interested in any further details, please do ask...

Thanks for your great work guys, and more power...

[Bug 588259] [NEW] package libruby1.8 1.8.7.249-2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2

2010-06-01 Thread David Nelson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ruby1.8

I first got this error because I was upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04 and
lost the Internet connection during the process. When the system came
back up, I have been constantly getting this error during updates,
although this is the first time the system prompted me to file a bug
report When Ubuntu installs updates, they seem to install without
problem, but always the process ends with an error message saying that a
ruby-related package is unconfigured... I can install new software
without problem, too, but still with this same error message at the end
of the process Anyway, thanks for your hard work guys :-)

Re: [Bug 346714] Re: transmission downloads portions of files I've unselected in the torrent

2010-03-18 Thread David Nelson
I posted a bug on the transmission project site, but they had a look
and closed it, saying it could be fixed by a solution explained in
another bug report (quoted elsewhere on this thread)... Basically they
seem to be debating the best answer to the problem, for implementation
in a future release. So they're aware of the issue. :-)

Yes this bug affects me as well. Though it never seems to download much
of the files; the fact that they exist means I have to spend time
rooting out anything I do not want.

[Bug 346714] Re: transmission downloads portions of files I've unselected in the torrent

2010-03-09 Thread David Nelson
This is still affecting Transmission 1.75 (9117) I find it
irritating because maybe I only want 1 file from a torrent's content but
it can take a long time to get it because Transmission also downloads
maybe 35% or more of a few other files... But I really like Transmission
as a client, because it's simple and small-footprint. :-)

[Bug 278194] Re: NetworkManager crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()

2009-10-14 Thread David Nelson
first occurrence in quite a few up/down cycles. broadband cellcard
connection seemed dead after lengthy idle (had not exited according to
syslog), so clicked connection in nm menu; got disconnected popup
message; clicked same menu item to reconnect, got crash notification.

apparently nm restarted itself and followed thru with reconnecting (does
not usually autoconnect when I plug usb modem), because bug reporting
etc. went fine without further intervention

[Bug 404709] Re: synaptics synclient does nothing

2009-10-13 Thread David Nelson
1.1.2-1ubuntu6 does do something for me:

~ $ synclient -l|grep padOff
TouchpadOff = 0 (taps and scrolling annoy me)
~ $ synclient TouchpadOff=2
~ $ synclient -l|grep padOff
TouchpadOff = 2 (taps and scrolling all gone)
