[Bug 1016996] Re: Right ALT key mapped through .Xmodmap does not work in Firefox

2014-01-04 Thread Dori
B Bobo (yout-bobo123):
That's not good enough. You now have to enter three keystrokes when it should
take just one. Also I have these wasted keys taking up space :)

[Bug 1016996] [NEW] Right ALT key mapped through .Xmodmap does not work in Firefox

2012-06-23 Thread Dori
Public bug reported:

I have mapped the Right Alt key (keycode 108) and the Right Winkey (keycode
134) through .Xmodmap as follows:
d@lexx:~$ cat .Xmodmap
keycode 108 = ediaeresis Ediaeresis
keycode 134 = ccedilla Ccedilla

However, only the Right winkey works as expected producing the çÇ
characters in Firefox. The Alt key does not work (no character gets
entered in text fields in Firefox).

The Alt key as it is mapped works in other applications such as Konsole,
Konqueror, etc., producing the characters ëË.

The exact same setup was working in prior versions of Kubuntu and
Firefox, but it does not work in Kubuntu 12.04 LTS.

[Bug 378916] [NEW] Can't susend after playing movie

2009-05-20 Thread Dori
Public bug reported:

After playing a movie in VLC, and exiting VLC, I can no longer suspend my
computer. I select suspend through System-Shut down...-Suspend and I get a
popup saying:
Request to hibernate
Multiple applications have stopped the hibernate from taking place.
vlc: Playing some media.
vlc: Playing some media.

Doing a process listing reveals that there are no vlc processes
lingering. I'm not sure why vlc would prevent suspend even if it were
running, but it actually isn't so it should suspend or say something
different.

[Bug 366503] [NEW] X does not start on 9.04

2009-04-24 Thread Dori
Public bug reported:

I just did a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.04. The install went fine,
rebooted, tried to change display settings with the X randr utility, it
seemed to work and I rebooted. Upon reboot X wouldn't come up. It got as
far as completing the progress bar, and even saw some text after it, but
after that all I saw was some junk red pixels at the top of the screen.

I have two monitors, and an ATI card. I should mention that I have
Ubuntu 8.10 on this same machine and it works fine. I am attaching my
xorg.conf from the 9.04 install as well as the last Xorg.0.log file.

I'd start in runlevel 2, but someone smarter than me thought it was a
good idea to remove the inittab file, so I have no idea how to configure
the system to not try X.

It won't start even with an empty home directory.

2009-04-02 Thread Dori
I should also mention that I tried removing the monitor.xml file, and it still
got recreated with the second monitor having:
  vendor???/vendor
  product0x/product
  serial0x/serial

My guess is that whatever it's using to detect the monitor either
changed, or got broken, and since that's its way of not recognizing a
monitor, when I log in, it can't find the settings for my monitor as it
only has an invalid one.

[Bug 351213] [NEW] Screen resolution not preserved

2009-03-29 Thread Dori
Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 with a two monitor setup. I got it setup to work
fine with my monitors, then something happened in the last week (maybe
an update) that messed up my resolutions. Now when I go to System -
Control Center - Screen Resolution it does not identify my monitors,
and by default when I log in it mirrors the monitors, chooses the wrong
one as the primary, and it uses the wrong resolution. I can unmirror it,
but it won't let me choose the right resolution in one of the monitors
(1280x1025 is not listed as a choice). I can add the choice by running
xrandr --addmode VGA-0 1280x1024 and then I can see and choose the mode
and it works fine. However if I reboot and log back in I'm stuck in the
screwed up state again. I can't figure out how to save the settings. I
guess I can muck around with the xorg.conf file but I'd rather I didn't
have to. It was working fine earlier so it looks like a regression.

Currently the xorg.conf looks like this:

---
Section Screen
Identifier Configured Screen Device
Device Configured Video Device
SubSection Display
Virtual 2880 1200
EndSubSection
EndSection

Section Device
Identifier Configured Video Device
EndSection
---

My primary monitor is 1600x1200 and the other one is 1280x1024.

Thanks

[Bug 329791] [NEW] Choppy sound and video

2009-02-15 Thread Dori
Public bug reported:

I'm really not sure which component is to blame here, but I find it
rather strange that I'm getting performance issues of this sort with my
system. My computer has a Core 2 Quad processors and 8GB of DDR2 ram.
It's by no means taxed, yet if I have an mp3 playing (using Rythmbox,
though I've also noticed it in VLC), and I'm scrolling on a heavy web
page (specifically
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Featured_picture_candidates),
the sound will get interrupted for like a second. Looking at the CPU
load it's minimal. There's plenty of memory available. There is hardly
any disk access. I can find no reason for choppy sound.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 AMD64.

[Bug 299292] [NEW] Cursor image goes crazy

2008-11-17 Thread Dori
Public bug reported:

I just installed Kubuntu 8.10 and the X cursor goes crazy from time to
time. It gets replaced by a box with some random image on there (looks
like it's grabbing the screen buffer, but it's some stretched interlaced
image). I don't think this is related to KDE as it has happened under
Xfce as well. I can't figure out when it happens, but it's usually when
switching applications, right/left clicking, etc. I'm guessing something
with cursor themes under Xorg is wrong.

If there is a way to get the default X cursor as a workaround that'd be
great. The default cursor theme is not the greatest anyway.

I tried taking a screenshot but the cursor doesn't show up.

[Bug 198429] Re: Unable to save bookmarks.xml

2008-07-05 Thread Dori
I had it, here is more explanation

Flow:

1. run sudo d3lphin
2. close it
3. run d3lphin
4. close it
5. you get /home/username/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/bookmarks.xml error.

Cause:

Every time you close d3lphin a new
/home/username/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/bookmarks.xml is written.
When you run as root, the d3lphin creates
/home/username/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/bookmarks.xml with root permissions.
Later, when you run as user, you try to overwrite
/home/username/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/bookmarks.xml and fails.

My solution: sudo chmod 777 to
/home/username/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/bookmarks.xml (and poossibly
/home/username/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/bookmarks.xml.bak if there is a
problem there).

After 2 closes of d3lphin as user the root permission files are
overwritten and problem solved.

d3lphin developers: consider adding a sudo
/home/username/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/bookmarks.xml option when user
get this error to overcome this issue in an automatic manner.

[Bug 71554] Re: resolv.conf has wrong entry

2006-11-14 Thread Dori
The problem is that it shouldn't put the wrong entry in there. Requests
for websites timed out and the second entry was not used. I don't know
how much clearer I could be. It simply put an entry that shouldn't be
there, which resulted in websites being unreachable. If you want to
ignore it fine, I don't really care, as I don't use Ubuntu as my system.
I was just trying it out.

[Bug 71554] Re: resolv.conf has wrong entry

2006-11-14 Thread Dori
This was all done by the installer, through I can only assume DHCP, and
it was whatever auto detection mechanism it used that included the wrong
entry. I downloaded and used the standard 6.10 ISO for desktop PCs
(x86). I didn't set anything manually during the install. I did manually
remove the entry afterwards.

[Bug 71554] resolv.conf has wrong entry

2006-11-12 Thread Dori
Public bug reported:

I just installed 6.10 on my laptop and it entered the wrong nameserver
in /etc/resolv.conf thereby nullifying my Internet connection.

$ cat /etc/resolv.conf
search domain.actdsltmp
nameserver 192.168.0.1
nameserver 198.6.1.3

That first one is not a nameserver but the configuration IP for my DSL
modem. I removed it from the list and hostnames began resolving just
fine.

[Bug 71558] Gets stuck at video detection

2006-11-12 Thread Dori
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal-device-manager

This is on 6.10, I ran the Device Manager, and then the Device Database
to send you guys some info on my laptop. It starts fine, autodetects the
sound card and then it gets stuck with the video. I have two screens
setup as I also have an external monitor hooked up to my laptop. This is
probably messing it up.

If I new how to run the device database on its own I'd run an strace on
it. If I can figure out how to attach a screenshot I'll do that too.
