[Bug 1839688] [NEW] local client 1.8.2-1ubuntu0.1 keeps disappearing files

[Bug 1002027] Re: missing start menu entries in xubuntu menu editor
Hi Guys, I just happened to run into the same thing with nxplayer-4.0.181-1. A workaround is to edit the NoMachine*.desktop entries in /usr/share/applications/: /usr/share/applications$ sudo vim NoMachine-* 5 files to edit Just append the line NoDisplay=true at the end of each file. xfce4 will not further annoy you with two entries of the same name. If desired you can now add a new item to the existing Internet menu manually using the menu editor. You will even find a nice icon from Nomachine (choose All Icons) Cheers Andreas -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1002027 Title: missing start menu entries in xubuntu menu editor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1002027/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1002027] Re: missing start menu entries in xubuntu menu editor
OK, me again. The workaround is nice (I don't like more than one subsection in my menus anyway), but does of course not explain, why xfce does create the second Internet entry. One explanation might be that the NoMachine*.desktop files do not contain a 'Categories' line, which would sort them into the right section. Source: http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menu (sub-heading 'The Other sub-menu'): If there are any .desktop files which are configured to be displayed in the xfdesktop menu but do not have any categories which include them in any of the defined menus, the Other sub-menu will be displayed and will display those entries. This applies to .desktop files in the $prefix/share/applications/ directory as well as the ~/.local/share/applications directory. So: if the NoMachine developers would patch their .desktop files, xfce would display them properly. You can fiddle around with that. Perhaps the line Categories=GNOME;GTK;Network; (taken from /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop) will do. [Bug 708307] [NEW] Atheros AR8151 driver will load but not work for wire ethernet, but does work for WiFi.
Public bug reported: I'm using an Acer Aspire 1830T-3721 notebook, which has an Atheros AR8151 network interface. Since getting this notebook (about 6 months now), the procedure to enable the network every time there was a kernel update was as follows: - goto source directory where the Atheros driver code existed, build and install the new driver with the following command: sudo make install - this resulted a new folder being created, namely, /lib/modules/KERNEL VERSION/kernel/drivers/net/atl1e/atl1e.ko where KERNEL VERSION is the latest kernel folder, and the new built network driver. - in this folder it is then possible to load the network driver with the command: sudo insmod atl1e.ko , which will load the driver and i have internet connection immediately. In addition, this also gets the WiFi driver working also. (note: in Atheros' own readme notes they specify arl1e.[k]o, this module name does not exist) -once confirming that it works I then add this module in the /etc/modules file so it is started up automatically at boot time. The above procedure is what I have been doing for the last several kernel updates, with no problems. But now with kernel 2.6.32-28-generic, the above procedure does not work. Once re-building the new module, I go to the new version in the 2.6.32-28-generic/kernel/drivers/net/atl1e/ folder and load the driver, the driver does load, but it does not work. There is no network connectivity. But the accompanying WiFi driver does work, hence I still have network (and therefore internet) connectivity, but only wirelessly and not via ethernet cable. That is the problem. Below are version signatures of Ubuntu and Linux that I am using: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Ubuntu 2.6.32-28.55-generic 2.6.32.27+drm33.12 Attached to this report is a tar file containing the dmesg and lspci outputs. [Bug 621607] [NEW] compiz, artifacts in the panels
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz While compiz is enabled, the screen shows artifacts. It is not associated with the card or driver because a laptop (HP 6735s) with the ATI HD3200 is exactly the same. The desktop computer I'm using GeForce 9800 GT, in both cases, the desktop effects off solves the problem, below I put a link to an example of such an error. Sometimes it is much worse when the top panel can only see half of the clock icon / Lan / off switch. The problem is only with the panels. The windows behave normally. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4271271/screen_bug.png ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: compiz 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu15 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-24.41-generic 2.6.32.15+drm33.5 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-24-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: [core, ccp, move, resize, place, decoration, text, imgjpeg, gnomecompat, mousepoll, workarounds, regex, neg, vpswitch, session, svg, png, dbus, commands, animation, resizeinfo, wall, wobbly, expo, fade, scale, scaleaddon, ezoom, staticswitcher] Date: Sat Aug 21 08:44:10 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx - Release amd64 (20100429) MachineType: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
