[Bug 1839688] [NEW] local client 1.8.2-1ubuntu0.1 keeps disappearing files

2019-08-09 Thread Dorian Taylor
Public bug reported:

Unfortunately this is not the best bug report I've written, but given
the circumstances it's the best I can do:

• OpenAFS client is on the same machine as the server
• During normal operation, files and directories disappear
• Show up in `ls -l` eg `?? ? ???? user`
• Assume this is a client problem because other clients on the network can see
the files
• Stopping and restarting client and server do not restore the files
• `bos salvage` and/or `fs setca -1` by the administrator account *sometimes*
seem to fix the problem but other times do not
• This is a random, intermittent problem so I do not know of a reliable way to
replicate.

Once again, this is 1.8.2-1ubuntu0.1 on amd64, kernel 5.0.0-21-generic
#22-Ubuntu SMP on 19.04.

Your issues are caused by the fact that you're running an unsupported
kernel that isn't configured to work properly with Ubuntu. Please switch
back to running a proper Ubuntu kernel.

That's not an Ubuntu kernel. Did you install a custom kernel?

"/etc/selinux/default/contexts/dbus_contexts": No such file or directory

It looks like dbus thinks selinux is enabled for some reason. Did you
enable selinux in your custom kernel?

Please install the Ubuntu kernel on this machine and see if the failure
goes away.

[Bug 1832397] [NEW] dbus errors and running older version

2019-06-11 Thread Dorian Rosse
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I am running this older version :

Traitement des actions différées (« triggers ») pour dbus
(1.12.2-1ubuntu1) ...

I have errors as following :

Failed to open connection to "system" message bus: Did not receive a
reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a
reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply
timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

Thank you in advance to help me debugg dbus then update It,

Regards.

Hello, this appears to be using a freshclam and clamav installed outside
of the packaging system. I suggest using the packaged versions of these
tools. If that's not an option for whatever reason, then the clamav
community would be a better place to ask for help.

Thanks

2019-02-09 Thread Dorian
Same issue since I switched from ibus to xim on Ubuntu 18.04.

This breaks apps like calculator, gedit and meld.

In my case, I can't use ibus because it claims two keybindings that I
need: Ctrl+Shift+U and Ctrl+Shift+E.

[Bug 1769610] Re: Support Intel Atom (Baytrail-I) HS-UART serdev slaves over tty

2018-07-05 Thread Dorian Scholz
Same problem on an IB8000 Atom Braswell board using 16.04.
Also shows the two ports when checking with acpidump, but the bionic OEM kernel
mentioned here did not fix it when installed on my 16.04. It booted fine but no
ttyS or ttyHS...
What really did the trick was the Debian 4.16.0-2 mentioned above as well. This
one brought back the ports on the normal ttyS names on 16.04!

[Bug 1572876] Re: After Samba upgrade can't access unpassworded windows share

2016-05-01 Thread Dorian
I confirm that there are problems with the connection to a PC with Windows 7
installed.
Since when its updated Samba from version 4.1.6 to 4.3.8 (via Update Manager
from Linux Mint 17.3), my computer with Linux Mint 17.3 x64 - Cinnamon (based
on Ubuntu 14.04, kernel 3.19.58) (client) can no longer connect to another
computer (host), where Windows 7 is installed (with shares files/folders) kept
asking password connection. Say that Windows 7 computer don't has user password
protection, and it has turn off password protected sharing for the directories
and files shared, (and with HomeGroup Connections turn off in Windows 7).
(For Samba Team) Please very much to resolve urgently the problem (bug) with
Samba ver. 4.3.8, which, from my point of view, was programmed by an
incompetent in programming.
I apologize for my inadequate language, but I am very angry with this bug and I
urgently need a solution for connecting to Windows 7 (without user password).
There are many on the forums which relate your mistake that they can't connect
to computers with Windows (see here, e.g.,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bugs?orderby=targetname=0).
I had no problems with Samba ver. 4.1.6. Everything worked fine with Samba ver.
4.1.6.
I wait an urgent solution to resolve the bug.
(I'm beginner in Linux.)

Thank you for understanding.

Sorry for my poor English.

[Bug 1576935] [NEW] Don't connect to a computer with Windows 7 (with shares files/folders)

2016-04-30 Thread Dorian
Public bug reported:

Since when its updated Samba from version 4.1.6 to 4.3.8, my computer with
Linux Mint 17.3 x64 - Cinnamon (based on Ubuntu 14.04, kernel 3.19.58) (client)
can no longer connect to another computer (host), where Windows 7 is installed
(with shares files/folders) kept asking password connection. Say that Windows 7
computer don't has user password protection, and it has turn off password
protected sharing for the directories and files shared, (and with HomeGroup
Connections turn off in Windows 7).
Please very much to resolve urgently problem with Samba ver. 4.3.8, which, from
my point of view, was programmed by an incompetent in programming.
I apologize for my inadequate language, but I am very angry with this problem
and I urgently need a solution for connecting to Windows 7 (without user
password).
I wait a solution in this regard. (I'm beginner in Linux.)

Thank you for understanding.

Sorry for my poor English.

[Bug 1227121] Re: ardesia draw function does not work

2013-12-20 Thread Dorian Sabaz
In my case, Ardesia draw function doesn't work, or I can't see it
working. Ardesia does start, but on the right I see no menu bar. But I
do see that Ardesia has it is overlay window working, since via ALT-TAB
I can switch windows with it.

I am using 64-bit Ubuntu with Gnome 3.8.

Furthermore, when I log into with Unity, I see Ardesia and a naked menu
bar. There is a mouse icon with an Ardesia pointer, but it doesn't draw
anything, of it does it is not showing it.

In short, Ardesia on 64-bit, is useless.

[Bug 995495] Re: Upgrade from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04 breaks slapd

2012-10-16 Thread Dorian Taylor
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 990742 ***

I'm not sure if bug 990742 dealt with this:

[dorian$deuce:~] ldapwhoami

ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Other (e.g., implementation specific) error (80)
additional info: SASL(-1): generic failure: GSSAPI Error: Unspecified
GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information ()

—which is exactly what I'm getting after upgrading as well. And then in
the syslog, I see:

Oct 16 11:35:10 deuce ldapwhoami: canonuserfunc error -7
Oct 16 11:35:10 deuce ldapwhoami: _sasl_plugin_load failed on
sasl_canonuser_init for plugin: ldapdb
Oct 16 11:35:10 deuce ldapwhoami: DIGEST-MD5 common mech free

It's the empty minor code that has me puzzled.

[Bug 1002027] Re: missing start menu entries in xubuntu menu editor

2012-05-21 Thread Andreas Dorian Gerdes
Hi Guys,

I just happened to run into the same thing with nxplayer-4.0.181-1.
A workaround is to edit the NoMachine*.desktop entries in
/usr/share/applications/:

/usr/share/applications$ sudo vim NoMachine-*
5 files to edit

Just append the line
NoDisplay=true
at the end of each file. xfce4 will not further annoy you with two entries of
the same name.

If desired you can now add a new item to the existing Internet menu manually
using the menu editor.
You will even find a nice icon from Nomachine (choose All Icons)

Cheers
Andreas

[Bug 1002027] Re: missing start menu entries in xubuntu menu editor

2012-05-21 Thread Andreas Dorian Gerdes
OK, me again.

The workaround is nice (I don't like more than one subsection in my
menus anyway), but does of course not explain, why xfce does create the
second Internet entry.

One explanation might be that the NoMachine*.desktop files do not contain a
'Categories' line, which would sort them into the right section.
Source: http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menu (sub-heading 'The Other
sub-menu'):

If there are any .desktop files which are configured to be displayed in
the xfdesktop menu but do not have any categories which include them in
any of the defined menus, the Other sub-menu will be displayed and will
display those entries. This applies to .desktop files in the
$prefix/share/applications/ directory as well as the
~/.local/share/applications directory.

So: if the NoMachine developers would patch their .desktop files, xfce would
display them properly.
You can fiddle around with that. Perhaps the line

Categories=GNOME;GTK;Network;

(taken from /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop) will do.

[Bug 492973] Re: aptdaemon consumes more than 2-3 MByte of system memory

I also think it could be a very very good idea to rewrite it in C.

This is an important part of the consumption, and if i was written in C,
the system memory require would easily be less than 3MB (It's a fact,
look at studies over the Internet).

NO! My problem is not about being able to upgrade to 10.10. I in fact, DO
NOT wish to upgrade to 10.10. I need to stay on LTS versions.

My original bug posting explicitly states, that my network driver, for
wireline, will not work. However, the wireless mode does work.

This is the 4th time I have not explained this - including my original bug
report of months ago - this is starting to get ridiculous; PLEASE READ MY
EMAILS, THEY ARE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC!

2011-04-09 Thread Dorian Sabaz
RedSingularity;

Yes I am still having this issue. In fact, I have been having this issue now
for about 4 months, this problem has existed for 2 or 3 Linux kernel
updates. It actually occurred straight after a kernel update, all the
details are listed in my prior posting.

Note: This is the second time I have had to post this bug. The first time, I
got no body to respond. I am now getting very tired of this problem, hence
my second bug posting on this problem.

Furthermore, I will be travelling a lot for the next 10 days. From attending
the Embedded Linux Conference in San Fransico to other business matters, I
will reply to emails sporatically, until about 20th of April when I'll be
in Sydney, Australia with constant email access.

RedSingularity;

I'm a bit confused I clicked on the link you suggested to subscribe to bug
721306, however, I got a page asking me if I wanted to UNsubscribe.

Furthermore, the bug 721306 is referring to is about upgrading (or more
accurately, not being able to upgrade) to 10.10. This is not my problem. My
problem is that I do not have wired network connection, but I do have
wireless network connection.

So I am confused.

Please advise or explain.

[Bug 708307] [NEW] Atheros AR8151 driver will load but not work for wire ethernet, but does work for WiFi.

2011-01-26 Thread Dorian Sabaz
Public bug reported:

I'm using an Acer Aspire 1830T-3721 notebook, which has an Atheros
AR8151 network interface.

Since getting this notebook (about 6 months now), the procedure to
enable the network every time there was a kernel update was as follows:

- goto source directory where the Atheros driver code existed, build and
install the new driver with the following command:
sudo make install
- this resulted a new folder being created, namely, /lib/modules/KERNEL
VERSION/kernel/drivers/net/atl1e/atl1e.ko
where KERNEL VERSION is the latest kernel folder, and the new built network
driver.
- in this folder it is then possible to load the network driver with the
command: sudo insmod atl1e.ko , which will load the driver and i have internet
connection immediately. In addition, this also gets the WiFi driver working
also.
(note: in Atheros' own readme notes they specify arl1e.[k]o, this module name
does not exist)
-once confirming that it works I then add this module in the /etc/modules file
so it is started up automatically at boot time.

The above procedure is what I have been doing for the last several
kernel updates, with no problems.

But now with kernel 2.6.32-28-generic, the above procedure does not
work. Once re-building the new module, I go to the new version in the
2.6.32-28-generic/kernel/drivers/net/atl1e/ folder and load the driver,
the driver does load, but it does not work. There is no network
connectivity. But the accompanying WiFi driver does work, hence I still
have network (and therefore internet) connectivity, but only wirelessly
and not via ethernet cable. That is the problem.

Below are version signatures of Ubuntu and Linux that I am using:

Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS
Ubuntu 2.6.32-28.55-generic 2.6.32.27+drm33.12

Attached to this report is a tar file containing the dmesg and lspci
outputs.

Thank you.

[Bug 681923] [NEW] Can not calculate upgrade to 10.10 from 10.04 with my System 76 Serp6 notebook

2010-11-26 Thread Dorian Sabaz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I received this message while attempting to do an upgrade to 10.10 on my
System76 Serval notebook:

Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by
held packages.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the
'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/
in the bug report.

I can verify that option 1 and 2 do not apply. Only option 3 can be a
possibility from that above list.

As stated I have attached the files that are in the above folder.

If there is anything else I can do please advise.

[Bug 572919] Re: Translatable ubuntu changelog

2010-08-26 Thread Dorian
** Description changed:

The Ubuntu changelog is in english and seems do be untranslatable.

- 1) Use an Ubuntu version that can be upgraded (Jaunty, Karmic, …)
+ 1) Use an Ubuntu version that can be upgraded (Jaunty, Karmic, …).
+ 2) Open Update manager.
+ 3) Do a distribution upgrade.
+ 4) See the changelog in english.

- When I upgrade to Lucid Lynx, the changelog message appeared but it's in
- english so... where can I translate it ?
-
- It's untranslatable, so can it be translatable ? (for all the languages
- available (for instance : French, Chinese, ...))
+ I'm french (and it's the same for others languages), so the message
+ should be in french :) .

[Bug 621607] [NEW] compiz, artifacts in the panels

2010-08-21 Thread Dorian Nowak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

While compiz is enabled, the screen shows artifacts. It is not
associated with the card or driver because a laptop (HP 6735s) with the
ATI HD3200 is exactly the same. The desktop computer I'm using GeForce
9800 GT, in both cases, the desktop effects off solves the problem,
below I put a link to an example of such an error. Sometimes it is much
worse when the top panel can only see half of the clock icon / Lan / off
switch. The problem is only with the panels. The windows behave
normally.

[Bug 621607] Re: compiz, artifacts in the panels

2010-08-21 Thread Dorian Nowak
As can be seen in the lower left corner is an artifact and the upper
right. When compiz is enabled, the option disappears off the computer
and user name is strangely cut off (should be written dorian).

[Bug 303609] Re: declining the license during installation causes an error

2010-05-01 Thread Dorian
And it broke apt-get, it say I have to launch sudo apt-get install -f because
cache is broken...
And when I refuse to install sun-java6-*, the cache stay broken... and if i
accept to install, but i don't accept the license it ask me to accept the
license in a infinite loop...
So I have install sun-java6-* and remove after ;)

[Bug 513994] [NEW] Bad french translation : md5sum: /dev/scd0: Aucun medium trouvé

2010-01-28 Thread Dorian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: coreutils

Just change the french translation of :
md5sum: /dev/scd0: No medium found
not by the wrong : (what is a medium ? (in french... (joke for french : Mais
qu'est-ce que fais un medium ? Il a pris le contrôle de mon graveur ?))
md5sum: /dev/scd0: Aucun medium trouvé
But by the (maybe) right sentence :
md5sum: /dev/scd0: Aucun disque trouvé

Thanks ;)
