[Bug 1968581] Re: Invalid transition after update to 1.18.6-1

2022-04-27 Thread Gian Carlo
Lenovo-shipped EM7455, 1199:9079

Adding the symlink didn't solve the problem.

I found that the qmicli was not installed !
After installing libqmi-utils package I could solve the problem.

Does the upgrade to ubuntu 22.04 uninstalled me the libqmi-utils
package?

2017-11-15 Thread Gian Carlo
This bug happens to me quite frequently (from once to three times per
day) and it's quite annoying.

It appears to be random even if sometimes it happens when I try to open
the notification window (in the topbar clicking on the date time)

[Bug 1533675] Re: ssh X11 forwarding has screen issue with Java applications

2016-01-20 Thread Gian Luca
Hi Robie,
thanks for you answer, I've asked to the sysadmin to make a test and let me
know if X server works fine and he told me that he hasn't verified any kind of
issue, so I think that is something wrong with my Ubuntu installation. I've
made also a test with a virtual installation(Oracle VirtualBox) of Ubuntu 15.04
and I have the same issue. If this bug/issue will be assigned to an X server
developer I'd like to collect any other info about this strange behavior.

Regards,
Gian Luca

[Bug 1533675] [NEW] ssh X11 forwarding has screen issue with Java applications

2016-01-13 Thread Gian Luca
Public bug reported:

Hi,
I've an issue with ssh X11 forwarding while launching Java applications, it's a
critical issue because I'm working with my laptop(with Ubuntu 15.10) for a
customer and is impossible to dispatch all the requests.
This is what I do step by step:
1- ssh -X user@customerserver
2- xclok <- it works well
3- /export/appl-data/oracle/jdk1.7.0_45/bin/java -d64 -jar weblogic.jar
4- The X Java application starts but the fonts are "invisible" s you can see in
the screenshot in attach.

I don't think is a server issue but an Ubuntu issue because it works
fine from fedora and windows 7 with Xming

The server Java version is this:
/export/appl-data/oracle/jdk1.7.0_45/bin/java -version
java version "1.7.0_45"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_45-b18)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.45-b08, mixed mode)

The server os is this:
[user@customerserver bin]$ uname -a
Linux customerserver 2.6.39-400.214.5.1.el6uek.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri May 30

[Bug 1514233] Re: Ubuntu 15.10 freezes during operation.

2016-01-01 Thread Gian Piero de Medici
I need help with this:

"Take a look first to see what you can learn"(...)"Sometimes you can
easily find the problem if it's in a subsystem that only has changes
from a few patches.(...)" from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection

I have attached the output from
git log --oneline Ubuntu-4.1.0-3.3..Ubuntu-4.2.0-7.7
as "gitlog-oneline-4.1.0-3.3--4.2.0-7.7-2016-0101.txt"

Does this output contain something that can help me save some steps?

Otherwise I get this:

piero@bianco:~/ubuntu-wily$ git bisect start Ubuntu-4.2.0-7.7 Ubuntu-4.1.0-3.3
Checking out files: 100% (7019/7019), done.
Previous HEAD position was 4aa705b... Merge tag 'armsoc-soc' of
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc
Switched to branch 'mybisect'
Your branch is up-to-date with 'origin/master'.
Bisecting: a merge base must be tested
[b953c0d234bc72e8489d3bf51a276c5c4ec85345] Linux 4.1

piero@bianco:~/ubuntu-wily$ git bisect good
Bisecting: 7460 revisions left to test after this (roughly 13 steps)
[4aa705b18bf17c4ff33ff7bbcd3f0c596443fa81] Merge tag 'armsoc-soc' of
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc

Does this mean I may have to compile and test up 13 Kernels?

Thank you!

[Bug 1514233] Re: Ubuntu 15.10 freezes during operation.

2015-12-27 Thread Gian Piero de Medici
Greetings!

I had to bisect the Mainline kernels after all.

The highest kernel version that is not showing the issue is: Ubuntu-4.1.0-3.3
(Mainstream 4.1.3).
The next kernel version is Ubuntu-4.2.0-7.7 (Mainstream 4.2.0) and that is
showing the issue.
The tests in detail below.

How to proceed from here?

[Bug 1514233] Re: Ubuntu 15.10 freezes during operation.

2015-12-25 Thread Gian Piero de Medici
Christopher M. Penalver (penalvch),

I am now testing
4.0.0-4.7   Ubuntu-4.0.0-4.7 ==  Mainline 4.0.7
which happens to be 1 Mainline up from my last good Mainline.

If this works I will be going back to bisecting the Ubuntu kernels.

$ uname -a
Linux bianco 4.0.0-4-generic #7-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jul 9 15:17:01 UTC 2015 x86_64
x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Quite simply I needed "extra" to get network and trackball working:
sudo dpkg -i linux-image-extra-4.0.0-4-generic_4.0.0-4.7_amd64.deb
for some reason I don't need "extra" with the upstream 4.3x kernels.

trying to install latest (today June 23rd) Ubuntu 14.04 server iso on HP
ML110 G7, and can't go past the Language screen.

How can this be still an issue without fix after such a long time?

Switching USB ports doesn't work for me.

Should I give up installing TT?!

[Bug 1244176] Re: Server 13.10 Install Fails with USB Keyboard (Appears to Hang)

2014-06-23 Thread gian
sorry if my post wasn't detailed, but essentially:

- the hw is an HP ML110 G7 with USB keyboard
- the iso is the daily current Ubuntu server 64 bit
- when you get to the language page, the keyboard stops reacting and all you
can do is power off the machine.
- ALL usb ports were tried, being those USB2 or USB3

I think that this is the same issue as described above, and I would like
to add that Ubuntu server 12.04 LTS was previously installed without a
problem, using the very same keyboard.

[Bug 864735] Re: [ATI HDMI] HDMI Audio Disabled by Default (since oneiric)

2012-10-26 Thread Gian-Luigi Valle
This is a big problem in Quantal because the ATI driver doesn't support
the new kernel as well as it causing the display to rollback leading
to the gnome classic look. The audio also doesn't work (for me) with
the driver installed. Not sure if the same happens Unity.

[Bug 429036] Re: core i7 i5 (Lynnfield) turbo boost not working

I have a Dell Latitude E6410 with i7 processor (4x Intel(R) Core(TM) i7
CPU M 620 ). I am running Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS, after reading above (and
also https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15064 ) I updated the
kernel to Linux 2.6.35-020635rc1-generic (x86_64), I have a rather
strange behaviour: if I keep my AC power cord pluged in all cores stay
fixed at 1.2Ghz (minimum speed), If I remove the power cord they
sometimes (meaning that the behaviour does not seem deterministic)
they jump to higher speed values (but never to the maximum possible
speed).

this is what I see using Turbostat with power cord IN (while running make on a

seem to give me any problem with standard Ubuntu 9.10)

[Bug 529397] [NEW] pgsnap version non compatible with postgresql default version in 9.10

2010-02-28 Thread gian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pgsnap

UBUNTUversion: 9.10 - the Karmic Koala
pgsnap version: 0.4.0-2
postgresql version: default for ubuntu 9.10, i.e. 8.4

expected behaviour:
database report in output files

current behaviour:

pgsnap fails with error:

...
Warning: pg_query(): Query failed: ERROR: relation pg_autovacuum does not
exist
LINE 12: FROM pg_class, pg_autovacuum
^ in /usr/share/pgsnap/lib/paramautovac.php on line 55
An error occured.

pgsnap assumes existance of the pg_autovacumm catalog, and fails with
the above error if this catalog is not found. Postgresql v.8.4 does not
seem to have any more this catalog. This bug is in some ways similar to
the already reported bug concerning package postgresql-autodoc (whose v.
1.31 is not compatible with postgresql 8.4, In that case simply updating
to the latest 1.40 version works).

Probably (will check this now) updating pgsnap to 0.5 (current version
on ubuntu 9.10 is 0.4) fixes the problem.

[Bug 323366] Re: jedit plugins don't work as user

2009-12-01 Thread Gian Mario Tagliaretti
In the SF I read:

This Tracker item was closed automatically by the system. It was
previously set to a Pending status, and the original submitter
did not respond within 14 days (the time period specified by
the administrator of this Tracker).

To me it looks like the bug has been automatically closed and marked as
fixed, no idea if this bug has really been fixed.

2009-11-04 Thread gian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: grsync

Have an Acer One with 9 display here, Karmic Koala Netbook Remix just

[Bug 363797] [NEW] sound converter does not open remote folder

2009-04-19 Thread gian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: soundconverter

I can browse a remote folder, but can't select it.

I run SC on my Ubuntu Intrepid laptop, and my music library is on a

Re: [Bug 323366] Re: jedit plugins don't work as user

2009-02-11 Thread Gian Mario Tagliaretti
On Mon, Feb 9, 2009 at 11:11 PM, Daniel Hahler launch...@thequod.de wrote:
This looks like a problem specific to the BufferTabs plugin (which does not
 get shipped by Ubuntu).
Please try updating the plugin using the Plugin Manager and report back, if
 that helps.
If not: are you getting other backtraces, where BufferTabsPlugin is not
 mentioned?

There is no update for the plugin (version 0.8.3), but I found out
that you also need GnuRegexp plugin to make it work.

(It works using sudo probably only, since you don't have the
 BufferTabsPlugin installed in that profile)

ehm.. I've try with sudo because I have the plugin installed and it
works (the plugin)
in this profile BufferTabs installed automagically the dependent
plugin GnuRegexp but not as user.

most likely ubuntu is not responsible at all, feel free to close the
bug.

but if you want to see another plugin that crashes (both user and sudo
profiles) it's TextAutocompleter.

[Bug 323366] [NEW] jedit plugins don't work as user

2009-01-30 Thread Gian Mario Tagliaretti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: jedit

Ubuntu version: 8.10
JEdit package version: 4.3-pre13 (synaptic version) [universe repo]

Installed JEdit from synaptic, using plugin manager to choose and install
plugins don't work as user.
when you try to use a plugin you get an ugly trace like:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: gnu/regexp/REException
at buffertabs.BufferTabs.propertiesChanged(Unknown Source)
at buffertabs.BufferTabs.start(Unknown Source)
at buffertabs.BufferTabsPlugin.addBufferTabsToEditPane(Unknown Source)
at buffertabs.BufferTabsPlugin.toggleBufferTabsForEditPane(Unknown
Source)

trying to install and use plugins from sudo it does work, so I guess
it's a permission problem.

[Bug 223069] Re: [hardy] gnome and xfce shows only empty screen with mouse pointer

2009-01-19 Thread Gian Mario Tagliaretti
Pedro are you joking are you?

this bug has been reported on hardy and the first question was did you try to
upgrade to Intrepid after 6 months.
this bug could have been closed at the time not after 8 months if no one was
going to investigate when hardy was fresh after the release.

Asking this question after 8 months and almost two releases will just
piss off people.

[Bug 312462] Re: document_new_from_data() arg1 must be without null bytes

2009-01-06 Thread Gian Mario Tagliaretti
Hi Carl,

making this change will raise a compiler warning about differ in
signdess.

I had a look at glib-poppler and the function initializes a new
MemStream which expects a char*, so I don't know how feasible a change
will be in poppler itself, can you ask them maybe?

thanks for all of your effort!

[Bug 286049] [NEW] NetBeans IDE doesn't work well with Dust theme

Public bug reported:

With the Dust GNOME theme
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/DustTheme) NetBeans IDE has some
visualization problems:
* toolbar is too big (see attachment).
* keyboard shortcuts for grayed menu items are invisible (unless you highlight

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at [WWW]

 2. the behavior you expected, and
 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

[Bug 226677] [NEW] poppler docs don't show up in devhelp

The link pointing from /usr/share/gtk-doc/html to /usr/share/doc
/libpoppler-glib-dev/html is wrong, there is a poppler directory in
there so the path ends to be /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/poppler/poppler/
and the docs don't show up in devhelp.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/share/doc/libpoppler-glib-dev/html$ ls
poppler

[Bug 190492] [NEW] Kernel hangs on boot (SATA, AMD64)

2008-02-09 Thread Gian-Luca Dei Rossi
Public bug reported:

After a dist-upgrade from gutsy to hardy (amd64 architecture and
distribution), the new default kernel (2.6.24-7-generic) doesn't boot
anymore... kernel output is normal until those messages:

ata1: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 Scontrol 300)
ata1.00: qc timeout (cmd 0xec)
ata1.00: failed to IDENTIFY (I/O error, err_mask=0x4)
ata1: failed to recover some devices, retrying in 5 secs

(repeated also for ata2)

The old kernel (2.6.22-14-generic from gutsy) still boot regularly.

The SATA controller is (from lspci)
00:0f.0 SATA controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8251 AHCI/SATA 4-Port
Controller

I'll attach a more verbose lspci output in a followup to this report.

[Bug 184003] BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) error when run amule or filezilla with xserver-xorg-core version 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12ubuntu8.1

2008-01-18 Thread Gian Marco Gherardi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core

This morning ubuntu auto updater proposed me to upgrade

xserver-xorg-core version 2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12ubuntu8

to version

2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12ubuntu8.1

Since the upgrade, when i try to run amule, i receive the following
error to the terminal:

Initialising aMule
Checking if there is an instance already running...
No other instances are running.
The program 'amule' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 403 error_code 11 request_code 148 minor_code 5)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Also when run filezilla i receive the same message:

The program 'filezilla' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 201 error_code 11 request_code 148 minor_code 5)

When i rollback xserver-xorg-core to previous version (2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-
12ubuntu8) and restart system, amule and filezilla works fine.

I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 with Nvidia GeForce 7600GS using restricted
