[Bug 1507837] Re: Battery indicator not showing up in system tray at startup

2015-11-01 Thread Guilherme Salgado
I see the same behaviour, and also have no ~/.cache/upstart/indicator-
power.log -- the last one (.1.gz) is from before I upgraded to 15.10.

Also noticed that killing the indicator-power-service process causes it
to get started again, and then the icon shows up

[Bug 1048618] [NEW] Selecting multiple messages in a folder with a lot of messages causes CPU to spike, application to become unresponsive

2012-09-10 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Thunderbird 15, whenever I select a dozen or so
messages in a folder with a lot of messages, the CPU usage spikes and TB
becomes unresponsive for a few seconds, after which it comes back to
life and CPU usage goes back to normal. I can reproduce it reliably.

[Bug 1011344] [NEW] Screen corruption (two thirds black, one third striped) when enabling MapsGL on gmaps

2012-06-10 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

A few seconds after I enabled MapsGL on google maps, using chrome, 2/3
of my screen went black and 1/3 was striped. After leaving the machine
idle for a few minutes the display went into sleep mode and then when I
pressed something on the keyboard to wake it up it was back to normal.
I say normal because although i could enter my password to unlock, the
screen was flickering really badly and unity was exhibiting some really
weird behavior -- menus folding back right after I'd clicked on them,
dialogs (e.g. the shutdown one) disappearing before I had a chance to
click on them, etc.

[Bug 958291] Re: Bad path autocomplete on some commands

2012-04-23 Thread Guilherme Salgado
In my case this seems to have been caused by having acroread installed
(bug 769866).

I applied
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acroread/+bug/769866/comments/54
to /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Resource/Shell/acroread_tab and things started
working as they did before.

If that works for you as well we should mark this bug as a dupe of that

That was the only terminal window I had but it was not in focus so it's
possible the upgrade had finished when it crashed. (bug 956432 has the

I can't reproduce that here. Is Super+Shift+arrow a custom shortcut

Oh, ok, I still seem to have the old shortcuts (Ctrl+Alt+arrow). Maybe I
changed them at some point and now my user-defined ones override the
system ones?

[Bug 938720] [NEW] When switching application tabs (with Alt+1..9 shortcuts) the HUD sometimes shows up

2012-02-22 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

I use the Alt+1...9 shortcuts to switch application tabs (gnome-
terminal, chromium, firefox, etc) all the time, and quite often the HUD
shows up after the tab is switched. This doesn't happen if I press the
Alt key, followed by the number and then release Alt, but I frequently
seem to release the Alt key at almost the same time I press the number
and that's when the HUD shows up. I thought this could be the same cause
as bug 923410 or bug 937036 but those seem to happen consistently,
regardless of how fast you release the Alt key.

[Bug 933618] [NEW] Launcher doesn't auto-hide after using Super+1..9 shortcuts

2012-02-16 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

After the last unity update my Launcher gets stuck after I hit any
Super+1..9 combination. I have it configured to auto-hide so whenever I
hit Super+1..9 it used to appear for a fraction of a second and then
hide but now it gets stuck as if I was holding down the Super key. The
only way I've managed to hide it is to then click on the workspace
switcher.

If I only hit the Super key to open the launcher it shows up as expected
and I can use Esc to close it just fine, which doesn't happen when I
use the combination above.

I reproduce it yesterday by creating a fresh precise-i386 container on
my precise-amd64 host and installing qemu-user-static in it. This is how
I created it:

lxc-create -n $CONTAINER_NAME -t ubuntu -f /tmp/network.conf -- -r
precise -a i386

Is the new kernel still on -proposed or has it been accepted already? I
just ran apt-get update/upgrade and didn't get that.

Also, is it really worth testing this on the new kernel?

[Bug 917660] [NEW] Installing qemu-user-static on an i386 lxc container will hose your amd64 host

2012-01-17 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

If you create an i386 container on an amd64 host and install qemu-user-
static on the container, it will run update-binfmts --import qemu-
x86_64 and since binfmt doesn't seem to be containerized, it will
affect the host causing all binary executions to go through /usr/bin
/qemu-x86_64-static, which in turn crashes like this:

  salgado@delgadito:~$ ls
  ERROR: ioctl(SNDCTL_DSP_MAPINBUF): target=0x80085013 host=0x80105013
  ERROR: ioctl(SNDCTL_DSP_MAPOUTBUF): target=0x80085014 host=0x80105014
  qemu: Unsupported syscall: 202
qemu: uncaught target signal 11 (Segmentation fault) - core dumped

Because of that you won't be able to execute anything on the host, so
the only way to solve that is to restart or run the following in the
container:

  update-binfmts --package qemu-user-static --remove qemu-x86_64
/usr/bin/qemu-x86_64-static

[Bug 885225] [NEW] The indicator uses a lot more CPU as soon as I unplug my laptop from AC

2011-11-02 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Public bug reported:

I have the indicator with the CPU monitoring enabled and noticed that
whenever I unplug my laptop (T420s) from AC, the CPU usage increases.
After watching top while I unplugged, I noticed the inidicator-multiload
process was partly to blame (compiz was also using more CPU after I
unplugged) for that, but once I closed the indicator I noticed that the
CPU usage would stay pretty much constant after unplugging, so I'm led
to believe the extra CPU usage from compiz was driven by the indicator.

FWIW, gnome-system-monitor has the same behaviour -- as soon as I
unplug, I see a spike in overall CPU usage and then it stabilizes at
about 10% more than the overall usage before unplugging.

stop') didn't help; logging out was equally slow.

[Bug 878560] Re: evolution mail view stops updating

2011-10-24 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Looks like what I'm seeing here... Can you confirm what you see is the
same as shown on the screenshot? In this case I switched from the
calendar view to the mail view but the selected message didn't get
displayed where it should, so instead you see what was there before
(part of the calendar)

[Bug 878560] Re: evolution mail view stops updating

2011-10-24 Thread Guilherme Salgado
I'm using Unity, and had the HTML mode config set to Show HTML if
present. After changing it to Show plaintext if present I've not seen
this issue anymore. It's only been a few hours since I've changed it, so
we'll see if that actually fixes the issue.

[Bug 790760] Re: linaro-hwpack-create fails with GPG errors from APT

2011-06-02 Thread Guilherme Salgado
Running on my Maverick install (with the same l-i-t version), I also
don't get a etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/ created in the temp dir used by
linaro-hwpack-create, but still runs to completion and doesn't complain
about that. Maybe this is because of some apt config or something
specific to Oneiric's apt?

http://paste.ubuntu.com/616721/ seems to confirm my hypothesis.
something that used to work on Maverick no longer works on Oneiric. Now
we need to figure out whether it's a regression in python-apt or just a
new requirement that trusted.gpg.d is in place before you run
cache.update()

I'm pretty sure we don't have lmc logs anywhere in the image. I guess
the important thing would be the logs of the hwpack installation?
