[Bug 1836964] [NEW] 18.04.2: cannot see Macbook Air 7, 1 NVMe partitions

2019-07-17 Thread Kevin Williams
Public bug reported:

The kernel that comes with Kubuntu 18.04.1 is able to see the partitions
on my Macbook Air 7,1 (mid-2015, 11.6")'s NVMe SSD. However, the kernel
included in 18.04.2 cannot.

If I check dmesg for the string "nvme" I get
nvme nvme0: IO queues not created

lspci can see the drive just fine.

This seems to be an upstream issue because it also affects Debian Buster
and Arch Linux.

failed to install/upgrade: installed mysql-server-5.7 package post-installation
script subprocess returned error exit status 127

Thank you for your report.

This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in
Ubuntu.

Specifically, you have an incompatible version of mysql-common installed
that was not shipped by Ubuntu, so other related packages cannot be
expected to work correctly.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

Since we use this bug tracker to track bugs in Ubuntu, rather than
configuration problems, I'm marking this bug as Invalid. This helps us
to focus on fixing bugs in Ubuntu.

If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem,
explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem
specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to New.

No. Unless that's changed recently, your customized entries under

[Bug 1238971] Re: Acer Aspire 1410: hibernate fails

2013-10-16 Thread Kevin Williams
I should add that this is the 11.6 Acer 1410, a circa-2009 laptop.
Acer has an older model also called 1410.

I loaded up gparted just now and it shows my swap partition (/dev/sda3) as
having an unknown filesystem, size 1.93 GiB. My other partitions:
/dev/sda1 ntfs 100 MiB system reserved
/dev/sda2 ntfs 86.74 GiB Windows 7
/dev/sda4 ext4 /

free(1) misdetects my swap as being 3GB, so something is definitely
fishy.

I'm going to try deleting my Linux partitions and reinstalling.

[Bug 1238971] [NEW] Acer Aspire 1410: hibernate fails

2013-10-11 Thread Kevin Williams
Public bug reported:

Hibernation fails on my Acer Aspire 1410. I have a swap partition
(/dev/sda3) that's sized slightly larger than my RAM, so that's not the
problem.

When I run pm-hibernate the screen immediately shuts off, then blinks
back on for a few seconds showing my Lubuntu 13.10 desktop, then the
system powers off. When I reboot after this, my open programs do not
reopen and a crash report comes up asking me to send information to
Canonical.

I believe I have the latest BIOS already.

2007-05-06 Thread Kevin Williams
I had this error too... I did a search in synaptic and saw python-dict.
I decided it might of been corrupted so I removed it completely. I then
went to add it back in, and it didn't show up in my search. So I guess
there is a package in edgy-eft called python-dict that no longer exists
in feisty fawn. It didn't get removed during the upgrade though (or at
least was not removed successfully.

Also--now that I removed python-dict, I no longer get the error. So,
just remove the package and this error goes away!

[Bug 50139] Partman installation hangs during installation

2006-06-17 Thread Kevin Williams
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: partman

Hello,

I am running on a Dell Poweredge 2300 on an Actiontec Raid Controller
(raid 5).

I put the Ubuntu 6.06 server in, select install to hard disk, and walk
through the wizards...the screen shows the detecting hardware bar, the
the setting up partitioner, but then shows a blue screen. Going to
terminnal 4, the last 10 lines are all partman, with the final line of
partman: Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while. I
gave it over 10 minutes.

Looking into the partman log file, I see
/lib/partman/automatically_partition/10resize_use_free/choices: IN:
PARTITIONS parted_server: Read command: PARTITIONS.

Nothing happens after this. I reproduced this on the same box using the
server CD install from hard disk, using the server CD install LAMP
server, and using the desktop CD.

Let me know if I can provide any other items to help troubleshoot this
bug.

[Bug 50140] Partman installation hangs during installation

2006-06-17 Thread Kevin Williams
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: partman

Hello,

I am running on a Dell Poweredge 2300 on a Raid Controller (raid 5).

Let me know if I can provide any other items to help troubleshoot this
bug.
