I found a workaround. A backtrace in gdb showed, that libflashplayer has
something to do with the crashes. After uninstalling Flashplayer, I can
write emails again. Maybe it is already enough to deactivate the plugin
/add-ons. I attach the backtrace.

Found a workaround: Its easy to disable normalize since it's a plugin.
Just chose Plugins from the Edit-Menu and clear checkbox beneath
Normalize. Now everything works fine - except normalizing of course ;)

I use a PRO/Wireless 3945ABG device from Intel. No matter whether I use ipw3945
or iwl3945 kernel drivers:
When I try to copy files via SSH via LAN, connection stalls after transferring
a few MByte and network manager tries to reconnect.
I use IBM Thinkpad X60 with
Confirm for ipw3945, Ubuntu 7.10, same behaviour here. Maybe it has to do with
the lenght of the key (since it worked before, when I used a shorter keyword)?
Before: 11 only characters
Now: 13 including numbers
Just a wild guess :)

Confirm. Same behaviour with Ubuntu LTS 8.04. Keyboard starts with US-
Layout after Reboot. One has to change manually to de_DE.
Maybe putting setxkbmap -model pc105 -layout de -variant basic into

it fails with a timeout. Using SSH on bash works, using Konqueror and Fish
works too.

Just a guess: If mask_file /picture/mymask.pgm is bigger or smaller
than width and height defined in motion.conf motion crashes.
