[Bug 1302528] [NEW] Window borders become blocky after suspend/resume

2014-04-04 Thread Markus Vuori
Public bug reported:

Every time I suspend my laptop (Macbookpro6,1) and then resume, compiz
does something weird. The composited gradient window borders become
black blocks. This is not nice, because also every menu/dialog window
gets these fat fat blocks around them.

I'm using NVidia binary driver (nvidia-331).

[Bug 1300742] [NEW] dbus-monitor crashes whole system

2014-04-01 Thread Markus Vuori
Public bug reported:

I tried couple of commands:

dbus-monitor --profile interface=org.gnome.Screensaver

and

dbus-monitor --session
type='signal',interface='org.gnome.ScreenSaver',member='ActiveChanged'

Both of them cause a system crash within 5 - 20 seconds. I can't change
vt or log in via ssh. Mouse pointer does not move.

Once I managed to switch to vt1 before crash, and I managed to take a
photo.

Kernel version:
Linux litebook 3.13.0-19-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 24 02:37:00 UTC 2014
i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

Ubuntu 14.04 Beta 2 (updated today) and dbus-1.6.18-0ubuntu3

dmidecode says this is a MacBookPro6,2 ( 8 GB RAM, 2 GB swap, no apps
running except gnome-terminal and normal ubuntu unity desktop)

I suppose the problem is due to excessive logging and/or forking?

[Bug 438160] Re: nm-applet loses ipv4 configuration

2009-10-02 Thread Markus Vuori
I have also another Karmic alpha install which is already almost 2
months old but dist-upgraded twice a day. A few weeks ago I could create
a working VPN connection with proper IPv4 settings...

...BUT I can not alter the settings any longer - settings remain as they
are though I try to save changes. Luckily I don't really need to alter
them. :P

If I alter the settings directly with `vim
.gconf/system/networking/connections/X/ipv4/%gconf.xml` the settings
manager READS and shows the altered configuration correctly but is
unable to save new values.

2008-05-15 Thread Markus Vuori
Russ: Yes, the password prompt by openssl-vulnkey is the problem.

It would be really nice to know if someone is working on this as this
causes serious problems. I am in a production environment, too, and I'm
not alone.

However, I'm not sure whether this is a bug in the openvpn or in the
network-manager package, or both. Pirx is not using network-manager but
is experiencing similar problems.

[Bug 230197] [NEW] Network-manager incorrectly uses openssl-vulnkey to check validity of openvpn keys

2008-05-14 Thread Markus Vuori
Public bug reported:

We are using network-manager (and network-manager-gnome) to launch vpn
connections. We also use vpn keys with passphrase.

However the latest openssl related security patches break the vpn
connection attempts.

Network manager incorrectly tries to check the validity of the vpn keys using
openssl-vulnkey instead of openvpn-vulnkey. And when openssl-vulnkey with -q
parameter says
Enter pass phrase for openvpn/markus_laptop.key:, network manager thinks
openssl-vulnkey is reporting a vulnerable key and networkmanager refuses to
continue connection.

I copied /usr/sbin/openvpn-vulnkey onto /usr/sbin/openssl-vulnkey,
retried, and voila, connection was succesful.

And now network-manager quietly accepts my openvpn keys and I can have

Of course this can't be nothing but a temporary solution to get my work
done. The situation requires another bugfix for the network-manager.

[Bug 37239] Re: VPN connection should alter /etc/resolv.conf

2007-10-13 Thread Markus Vuori
I'm runnign up2date gutsy. VPN connections work well with
networkmanager-openvpn and resolv.conf gets modified...

BUT

after a while dhclient(?) comes and overrides the modifications made by
network-manager-openvpn. I mean, my openvpn server sends the dns
information and networkmanager-openvpn gets it and makes modifications
correctly. However the modifications are not permanent and get
overwritten by dhclient(?) who supposedly gets dns information from
other sources.

2007-10-12 Thread Markus Vuori
Charl, no apologies needed. We're not sounding sour enough. :)

I need fglrx also to get my dual head configuration to work. WHY NOT

This is a really important issue and currently driving me pretty mad.
I'm using Thinkpad, Ubuntu, fglrx and dual head for my daily work. I
really need to install different distro until someone compiles and makes
available SLAB-enabled kernels for gutsy (or ATI repairs it's drivers).

[Bug 121653] Re: [gutsy] Suspend to Ram does not work on Z61m

2007-10-07 Thread Markus Vuori
I can confirm this. I'm running Gutsy on Lenovo T60 (1680x1050 wide
screen) with fglrx driver and ati mobility x1400 graphics adapter. With
Feisty suspend worked well, as well as with Gutsy running Feisty kernel
(2.6.20).

I've tried the driver versions found in feisty's or gutsy's standard
repositories, as well as 8.40.4 and 8.41.7.

All fglrx versions worked with feisty kernel, and none of them works
with gutsy kernel. There's something wrong with gutsy kernels.

Now my T60 doesn't want to go sleeping. It goes in semi-sleep state the
moon indicator led and cursor blinking on blank screen.

Gutsy is up-to-date running 2.6.22 generic kernel (2.6.22-13.40).

[Bug 84965] Re: Support for Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

I'd like to see Ubuntu supporting this keyboard. I think this is a
matter of will and supposedly there're plenty of other keyboard models
not supported.

I'd like to try resetting all the settings for rhythmbox (on feisty) and
retry the magnatune plugin, but I don't know how to get rid of all
rhythmbox specific settings in my system. Do I need gconf-editor for
that? Any advice?

[Bug 131270] Rhythmbox downloads magnatune database forever

2007-08-09 Thread Markus Vuori
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Whenever I click the Magnatune-source in the left pane, it starts to
read magnatune directory (or database). The progressbar moves back and
for forever and never becomes ready. My colleague has the same problem.
Two weeks ago this worked well, but any longer. I've tried it several
times on different days. Restarting the application, or the whole
computer does not help, nor changing to different network.

I'm running up-to-date Ubuntu Feisty. Installed package version is
0.10.0-0ubuntu2.

Amarok loads/updates the magnatune database correctly in a few seconds.

[Bug 108392] Re: No sound on Compaq V3000 laptop on feisty

2007-06-03 Thread Markus Vuori
I can confirm this bug with my T60. I could hear sound for a second
every time I plugged or unplugged the AC jack. I rebooted several times
using the most current and the previous kernel but no luck. Then I
unplugged the power jack, halted the os, and removed the battery. After
booting the AC jack unplugged, now I again have sound. This is kinda
weird.

[Bug 79439] Re: New aiccu version 2007.01.15 released

2007-01-17 Thread Markus Vuori
No. It doesn't work for dapper because libgnutls13 is not available.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
aiccu: Depends: libc6 (= 2.3.6-6) but 2.3.6-0ubuntu20 is to be installed
Depends: libgnutls13 (= 1.4.0-0) but it is not installable
Depends: libgnutls13 but it is not installable
E: Broken packages

I also tried to recompile it following the instructions on the sixxs web
page. Compilation went ok but the newly compiled package is
uninstallable, too, due to unmet dependencies.
