[Bug 1830902] Re: (Most) Ubuntu desktop icons disappear when selecting "show hidden files" in Nautilus

2019-05-30 Thread Michael Satke
// Thank you for your bug report, what menu do you use exactly? the top bar
one or the context menu (and if so is that on the desktop or in another
nautilus view)

I only have the hamburger menu in the top right corner, none in the
context menu. See screenshot attached.

[Bug 1830902] [NEW] (Most) Ubuntu desktop icons disappear when selecting "show hidden files" in Nautilus

2019-05-29 Thread Michael Satke
Public bug reported:

When I select "show hidden files" in the Nautilus GUI menu almost all of
my Ubuntu desktop icons disappear. My home folder icon and my trash can
icon (and - oddly - a single .mp3 and a single .zip file - ??) stay
visible on the desktop.

After unchecking the "show hidden files" checkbox, all icons reappear
again.

One additional information concerning the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + H":
"Ctrl + H" to show hidden files seems to have been disabled in Ubuntu
19.04 / Nautilus 3.32.0-stable. When I press "ctrl + H" now, all desktop
icons disappear for a moment, then reappear without a change. This does
not switch the nautilus "show hidden files" state.

It seems to be a bug in nautilus. Kind regards, Michael

other users on that pc to have their graphical sessions in the new
language too.

[Bug 1470862] Re: When using fglrx module, the virtual consoles are blank and useless

2015-10-25 Thread Michael Satke
I could get rid of the problem through upgrading to 15.10 and getting
rid of fglrx - BUT! - I was greeted with a black screen at first My
displays could not be detected. Via ssh I remotely logged in from
another computer and completely removed my ati drivers, removed my
Xorg.conf, and reinstalled Xorg (https://askubuntu.com/questions/68306
/how-do-i-remove-the-proprietary-ati-drivers).

Trying that please be sure you have remote access to your computer or
could find yourself stuck in front of a black screen!

So now I can agree Alberto Salvia Novella. My virtual consoles, my
graphical session, and libreoffice (whose crashes had been the reason
why I had to switch to fglrx) all work fine.

2015-06-06 Thread Michael Satke
Yee haw, I don't know how this problem was solved after all, but after
updating to 15.04 all applications started through keyboard shortcuts
become active (they appear in the foreground with keyboard focus).

E. g. keyboard focus is in the input field when gnome-calculator is
started. To whom it may concern, but thank you very very much!
Everything works fine now again. Michael

[Bug 1339714] [NEW] Application windows do not become active when started via keyboard shortcuts

2014-07-09 Thread Michael Satke
Public bug reported:

I used to start Gnome-calculator and Thunderbird via my keyboard short
cuts. This used to work very well andd handy, for my keyboard has some
extra keys for those purposes.

Now I can still start the desired applications, but I have to do an
extra click (or alt-tab) on their window to get them active. This ist
particularly annoying and unhandy for the calculator. I tested this
contra-productive behaviour on thunderbird and on gnome-calculator.

This bug seems to have occured about May 2014, and is active in 14.04
(my desktop computer) and 13.10 (my laptop computer).

I consider this a very small bug, and so i hope this is really easy to
fix.

Thank you in advance, Michael

I am affected, too, in exactly the same way as Jay Ó Broin.

Orca is off; This bug appeared after testing it. I would like not to
perform an os reinstall.

[Bug 807771] Re: synaptic crashed with SIGABRT in __kernel_vsyscall()

2011-10-29 Thread Michael Satke
Wait a minute - after removing and purging the orca packages. The bug
still persisted.

But then I remembered the accessibility settings -- screen reader was
set on though itself, as I mentioned, had been removed.

After switching to off my dear synaptic is working properly again ...
:-))

[Bug 874200] Re: segfault when switching user

2011-10-26 Thread Michael Satke
Chaps,
I experience the same bug. In GUI mode, switching users causes lightdm to crash
exactly the way anatoly techtonic described this.

Falling back to gdm can not be a solution, lightdm is really nice!

I have 64-bit standard oneiric installation (generic kernel 3.0.0-12) on
a laptop (HP 625, CPU: AMD Athlon II P360 dual core, RAM 4 GiB, hdd 230
GiB).

I hope this bug can be forgot soon.

I have exactly the same problem as Olek. Any WAV sound file is cut off

[Bug 155648] Re: Regression: Thunderbird New Mail sound cuts off before end

2008-04-09 Thread Michael Satke
My Login Manager plays all sounds full lenght, though. So me and Olek
seem to only partially share this problem.

I use Ubuntu Gutsy, installed on a desktop with an Intel Celeron CPU at
2.4 GHz, 440 MB RAM and an 80 GB hdd; mb: ASRock P4VM8 (has sound 'on
board').

[Bug 211344] [NEW] compose window: toolbar cannot be dragged upwards correctly

2008-04-03 Thread Michael Satke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Whenever dragging the horizontal border of the toolbar upwards, the blue
lines from the address fields shine through it at a certain height.
Toolbar items can not be klicked correctly then.

Should be fixed for this is really annoying.

(In addition, the address lines itself seem about doubled in height
compared to Thunderbird for Microsoft Windows, this could be changed.)

With kind regards, Michael

[Bug 196574] Re: Wine crashes Ubuntu 7.10 instantly

I hope so, Scott, but please allow me to say that I can not understand
why the standard installation should provide me an Ubuntu that is bound
to crash when using wine? Wkr, Michael

[Bug 196574] Re: Wine crashes Ubuntu 7.10 instantly

2008-03-31 Thread Michael Satke
Whenever starting any component of wine, e. g. 'wine settings' or
'browse virtual c drive' and also launching an application via wine
freezes Ubuntu 7.10 at once. The System is absolutely frozen, you cannot
move the mouse, neither switch to a terminal, and there is no rescue key
combination working any more.

I have Ubuntu 7.10 installed (standard installation, with kernel
2.6.22-14-generic and GNOME 2.20.1). Whenever I run restricted-manager,
it keeps saying me that my hardware does not need any restricted
drivers.

My machine: Desktop PC
Intel Celeron @ 2.4 GHz
RAM 440 MB
HDD 80 GB

This is very critical and has to be fixed, for this can damage Wine's
reputation badly.

[Bug 183480] Xubuntu 7.10: command xflock4 fails

2008-01-16 Thread Michael Satke
Public bug reported:

The xflock4 command does not work properly, although I configured and
activated my screensavers.

Entered inside a teminal window, I receive these error messages:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xflock4
** Message: Screensaver is not running!
/usr/bin/xflock4: 22: xscreensaver-command: not found
/usr/bin/xflock4: 22: xlock: not found

The binary xflock4 exists in that directory /usr/bin, but it seems to be
unfunctional, not even xflock4 --help etc. work, you always receive
error massages identical to the ones above.

[Bug 183480] Re: Xubuntu 7.10: command xflock4 fails

One more thing to know: I used the alternate install CD
http://se.archive.ubuntu.com/mirror/cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/7.10/release/xubuntu-7.10-alternate-i386.iso,
MD5 was correct and check the disk for errors resulted O.K.
completely.

[Bug 183489] command xfce4-popup-menu opens the wrong popup menu

2008-01-16 Thread Michael Satke
Public bug reported:

In Xfce, the command xfce4-popup-menu seems to be designed to open the
main Xfce-menu, which displays the content of the standard file:

/home/MYNAME/.config/xfce4/desktop/menu.xml

I created one more menu, places (it contains starters for some of my
favourite directories), the menu file for it is

/home/MYNAME/places.xml

The buttons work perfectly fine, but whenever I run the command xfce4
-popup-menu, my personal menu places pops up, and not the desired
Xfce standard menu.

I am using Xubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon, alternate installation disk
(xubuntu-7.10-alternate-i386.iso), the MD5 sums of which was correct.

[Bug 183493] Xubuntu 7.10 German translation error / resp. typo

2008-01-16 Thread Michael Satke
Public bug reported:

In the Xfce-menu applications settings there is a small typo, which
has, too, been there in Edgy Eft.

The menu item calendar settings (which opens the preferences window
for orage) is mistranslated into Kalandereinstellungen, which is no
German word.

The correct word is Kalendereinstellungen; (a -- e).

Wkr, Michael
