[Bug 1652631] Re: [Feature request] Dependancy reduction

2021-11-26 Thread Michal Dziczkowski
Hello Paul and thanks for your answer. The problem is, that this case is
more server global one and does apply too many packages. Listing them
either here or in separate ticket's would be annoying from the reporting
side, plus I know that people here are volunteers who have also their
busy lives.

Thereof, this case should be given to the repository maintainers to
check why does such things were even able to happen.

[Bug 1652631] Re: [Feature request] Dependancy reduction

2021-11-25 Thread Michal Dziczkowski
I would like to add to my post an information that oftenly it comes to
the situation that after updating one package, it breakes another one,
with requires a dependant package with is unavaliable in the repository.

Maybe the repository maintainers should look up to this case and do
something to fix it ?

[Bug 1951827] Re: APT crashes with Segmentation fault

2021-11-24 Thread Michal Dziczkowski
This was only a informative bug report because Ubuntu and Debian share
many common packages.

This bug has appeared suddenly and without any warning or possibility to
backtrack, so it would be good that Ubuntu dev team was aware of it.

Have a nice day ;-)

[Bug 1926504] Re: [Possible bug] dpkg-XXX (where XXX is name) does not read env variables

2021-04-30 Thread Michal Dziczkowski
There are meant all the developer related flags with are listed when
running the dpkg-buildflags with given the parameter to list them (for
example CPPFLAGS).

I have other parameters set in enviroment for them (according to getting
the best required result of compilation) and when attempting to build a
deb archive, it's beeing build with the ones from the mentioned in above
program, with creates a trash in form of debug files (and related), with
is by some applications a "bad thing to have" because it can create a
vulnerabilities (especially it it's a security related software)

[Bug 1926504] [NEW] [Possible bug] dpkg-XXX (where XXX is name) does not read env variables

2021-04-28 Thread Michal Dziczkowski
Public bug reported:

The reported problem (who exist in the most versions of Ubuntu and
Debian) apply to the tools, who's name begin with "dpkg-". I'll give the
problem description, basing on the example of "dpkg-buildflags".

After running the dpkg-buildflags command with a propper parameter, in
the terminal is displayed a list of compiler, linker, etc. flags, who
differ themself from the ones with are set in the enviroment and with I
wanted to use (instead of the displayed ones).

The problem that the enviroment aren't read in any way thru this
programs and use only the "build-in" ones, with is a quite serrios issue
because it may create vulnerabilities in the created archives or even
software.

[Bug 1906794] [NEW] Issues with LiveUSB related to persistant mode

2020-12-04 Thread Michal Dziczkowski
Public bug reported:

After downloading the Ubuntu 20.10 ISO, burning it out on a USB stick
and testing it(savings weren't saved) some time ago, I had decided to
modify it and add "persistant" (as described in Ubuntu domumentation) to
it to store the settings. After I did that, following problems started
to occur with the system:

1. Ubuntu started to work much slower then before adding "persistant"
2. after the computer was turned off (with proper system shutdown) and then
turned on, wifi has "vanished" (in the "Additional drivers" tab of the Software
Properties it was selected to use the driver, but it seem like the Wifi
interface wasn't existing anymore. I had to do following steps to restore it:

in the Software Properties in the tab "Additional drivers":

* select "don't use this device" and clicked "apply"
* had to restrart the computer

in the Software Properties in the tab "Additional drivers" (again):
* select "use the (...)" and click apply

after that I could close the Software properties with wifi restored

After opening thru the console (as root) the software-properties,
switching to the "Authentication" tab and pressing the "Import key
file", I recieve following error output:

same happens with software-properties-kde.

When I'm trying to check their version, I'll get following output:

# software-properties-qt -v

When I tryed to update the packages on my Ubuntu (vivid), the package
list started to update before "throwing out" after a bit the list of
most packages with the error "Checksum Mishmash". Similiar problem was
reported before but it seem it hasn't been fixed until now.

[Bug 1551194] [NEW] Issues with package uninstall

2016-02-29 Thread Michal Dziczkowski
Public bug reported:

I have follwing issues with uninstalling packages:

When I try to uninstall package, by some of them I get following output:

`dpkg: warning: while removing the package [package name], the directory
"[directory]" was not empty so not removed`

where:

[package name] is the name of the removed package and [directory] - the
folder name with contained some from the package's files.

In the result, the uninstaller has left behind the files from the uninstalled
package and they don't got removed. Even if the package is considered after it
as uninstalled, the files and folders still exist on disk and take away it's
space.

I still use a Ubuntu 14.10

[Bug 589281] Re: Leechers limitation

2010-06-05 Thread Michal Dziczkowski
hey, this was a brain storm created idea. The case is to create a more
precise peers manage. This have a advantage that it would help to
increase the security.

In Transmission client are 3 important security tools missing:

* identify of the peer's network, with would help to identify police (or
related) networks
* managing of the black (block) list
* possibility to block/unblock every host separately

Missing of the mentioned above causes a serious security leak in the
client

this would be fair to give more slot's for those who are uploading

[Bug 569703] Re: IRC support problems

2010-05-25 Thread Michal Dziczkowski
The bug still exist . There is no possibility to change text formating
(including text color) or the background because all elements from the
"Font" menu are grayed out and disabled.

This bug makes that nothing is visible in the output window.
Additionally, the input line has height of half line (and it's unable to
resize it.
