[Bug 513447] [NEW] DVD device not working after update in Karmic 9.10
Public bug reported: Today i had to find out that after updating Karmic three days ago, my dvd device of my laptop doesn't work anymore (HP Compaq 6715b). I never had problems before. I am using Karmic since its release (never had problems back til hardy). I am able to OPEN the device to insert a dvd or cd, but after closing, the device starts working but stops after a while with no result. nautilus doesn't show up with it either. I also tried a dvd that played all the time before - same result. When this appeared first time, I was at least able to sudo eject /dev/cdrom But before restart, I tried to solve it with updating til the last karmic updates (30 minutes ago). After restart, not even the code above would result in an eject. (Actually, i wonder, why it worked first time, because the dvd was not detected then as well ...). So now i have to restart everytime i try to get back my dvd and eject it while booting. If you need further info, let me know (and don't forget to advice me how to get it :-P). Thank you!!! ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Today i had to find out that after updating Karmic three days ago, my dvd device of my laptop doesn't work anymore (HP Compaq 6715b). [Bug 326906] [NEW] Firefox crashes after standby Ubuntu 8.10
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox This is reproducable system crash on my hp compaq 6715b with Ubuntu 8.10 running on it: After stand-by, all applications works perfect. As soon as i start Firefox (3.05), the system will crash. The only way ist to shut down the system manually and re-start it manually. There are no files in /var/crash to be found, sorry - that was the only place i knew I should have a look at. This happens every time after standby. when i send the latop to standby with Firefox window opened, the system will come back from system til the point it tries to work on FF again: without me doing anything, it will crash. I experienced this bug from the very beginning, waiting for a fix without reporting (stupid me hehe). running the latest upgrade/update of Ubuntu 8.10, btw. [Bug 311572] Re: f-spot crashes before printing
well, i still can't print photos via f-spot (doing it right now via Gimp, but that s already. It goes like this: I hit Print, I chose printer, I select Photo Tray after that, no matter if i configure something more manually or leave it as it is pre-selected i hit print process starts, photo tray driving into the printer, paper getting grabbed by the printer. One second later on the implemented screen of the printer I'll get an ERROR message Papier stimmt nicht mit ausgewähltem Format/Typ überein something like Paper doesn't meet the pre-selected formate/type That is weired, cause even if i configure it manually as i do in Gimp, I do get the same message (and I don't get in Gimp). If someone of you professionals tell me that is within my printer - okay, I'll believe it. -- f-spot crashes before printing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311572 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

okidoki - tried now to print via my notebook ubuntu 8.10. doesn't work either. I get an error in printer sign that tells me that the printer is prolly not connected. But it is. I checked detection in printer menu, is detected. I print testside - works fine. I print from OOo - works fine. I work from xd card in printer slot (for photo test) - works fine. so it must be a f-spot problem IMO. sorry for double posting, 1) the solution came from http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6115686postcount=30 2) friend of mine just wrote a small code, so u don't have to run via terminal always, but automatically start with right lib. [Bug 298975] [NEW] Open Office Menue Bars don't display in Ubuntu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org I am running OOo 2.4 on Ubuntu 8.10, latest updated version. running it as root, i have no problems. But when the other user opens OO, no matter if Writer or something else, the menue bars are there, but do not display the letters. The only things that can be seen are the _ from the single letter in each word (eg the _ from under the F from File). If u slide over these _, for a very short moment the whole word will blink up (less than a second). I restarted the programs, the system - won't help.
