[Bug 1875475] Re: Unison from Ubuntu 20.04 is incompatible with Unison from Ubuntu 18.04, Windows or Mac OS X
After downgrading and trying the downgraded unison you will only need to delete the "fs*" files in .unison on your local machine I found out. So thankfully the sync-state "ar*", was still working well after that. I didn't actually get a new error though, but the same error. [Bug 989396] Re: Package keyboard-configuration post-installation script. Hang on /bin/setupcon --force --save for 10 min then killed
As a workaround, I killed setupcon which was hanging, then it retried at the end, and I killed it again. Then I went into /usr/bin/setupcon as root and wrote in exit 0 at the top, so it would exit without doing its evil work. Then: $ sudo dpkg --configure -a at the end. And things seems fixed. So in other words, you can do this change to /usr/bin/setupcon (and just miss whatever changes it does) after you've killed it the first time. Then the last time it tries, things will succeed. Or you can just fix things after the fact. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/989396 Title: Package keyboard-configuration post-installation script. [Bug 1460401] [NEW] Upgrade to 15.04 fails because of systemd ureadahead conflict
Public bug reported: I do have third-party packages, but they do not seem to be related here (or I might be blind). Anyway, I did install systemd-sysv and ran with that, when I tried the upgrade earlier it failed. I didn't investigate. Now I removed systemd-sysv and tried the upgrade, but to no avail. The brokenness continues. It makes me think there might be something really broken with the packages here? Or is it something bad I've done? I guess maybe that I've tried to install ureadahead myself before (just from apt), and I've also used systemd-sysv might be the special bits here. Anyway, would be good to be able to upgrade. [Bug 1325418] [NEW] UnicodeDecodeError in checkFreeSpace on 13.10=14.04 upgrade
Public bug reported: Steps: 1. Use a locale that has an LC_NUMBER with a no-breaking space (or some other non-ascii character) 2. Have too little space on one mount (for me it was /boot) 3. Can't do release upgrade to 14.04 (well, not getting any error message) I sent a patch upstream[0], but I don't know if it'll be accepted, and also, this won't really help unless the package is updated on the versions people upgrade from. [0] https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=750120 I suggest instead that you code around it in the trusty upgrade script. The offending line is the apt_pkg.size_to_str(). Instead of using that bare, you should prepend a `.decode('utf-8')` to it. I don't know where the code for that trusty tarball is held, so I don't have a patch. This is a very big issue here. We're moving away from Firefox to Opera and Chromium because of it. When someone a) logs in, b) leaves with the Ubuntu computer locked and then c) someone turns off the computer at the end of the day/week, the .parentlock and lock reside on the NFS. BTW, I haven't found this error anymore which I got from plugging my HTC G1 into the computer, to automatically get a new network interface. The computer had USB1-ports and I was running from livecd. [Bug 541492] Re: MASTER: [i845] GPU lockup (apport-crash)
It happens all the time now. Sometimes when I click a new link, sometimes when I open a new program or whatever. The screen doesn't get signal from the GPU anymore and complains. [Bug 539533] Re: apport-gpu-error-intel.py crashed with KeyError in __getitem__()
I ran into this. After 20-30 minutes my screen becomes totally BLANK. The screen reports «check your cables», and I do. The machine still runs, so I think there's a kernel error that causes it. And afterwards I get this bug when it's trying to report the other (real) bug. -- apport-gpu-error-intel.py crashed with KeyError in __getitem__() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/539533 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 448895] Re: Ubuntu doesn't start
Well, now I started the computer again; still this error. I see that there's a new kernel update, maybe it'll fix it. As I said, it has been working with the older kernels, so jaunty worked fine before. It's no use changing to karmic yet, these are work computers, and I need to test and run Karmic a good while before I update the other computers. Right now we're in a mixed environment between intrepid and jaunty (due to bugs in jaunty) - hopefully we can migrate everything to karmic. Anyway, jaunty is broken. I can try to restart after applying the new kernel update now. [Bug 448895] [NEW] Ubuntu doesn't start
Public bug reported: When starting a Jaunty computer at work, it didn't start, just showing 20% - 30% finished but hanging there. I could switch to another VT. When switching to F8 and hitting CTRL+ALT+DELETE it started moving again, and I could then go to VT1 (CTRL+ALT+F1). From there I had to mount -o remount,rw / /etc/init.d/gdm stop /etc/init.d/gdm start and it all worked swell again. The first time I tried this, I also had to get an IP-address (dhclient eth0) and mount my home dirs (mount /home). As you can see, there is a bug in the linux kernel (dmesg told me so). I haven't had problems with this computer before. Ah, but I actually think I don't have any TLS enabled at all, seemed overkill and I didn't want to set it up. :-) -- Can't contact LDAP server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222003 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libpam-ldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 222003] Re: Can't contact LDAP server
Well, no of course. I think it a bit far fetched to not be able to use a self-signedd cert as *I'M* the one setting up the clients, and I should be perfectly aware which certificate is mine. I don't think that it is a good user friendly (or admin friendly) way to require to fork out useless money for something we don't need :-) I'm rather surprised that you REQUIRE CA signed certificates. [Bug 222003] Re: Can't contact LDAP server
Actually I fixed it by using auth-client-config -a -p ldap_example and thus using Ubuntu's provided ldap pam-configuration and *not* the one used in that big often-followed tutorial[1]. Sorry for the noise. Although I don't know the difference, why the provided ldap_example works and the one in the tutorial doesn't. 1. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=640760 -- Can't contact LDAP server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222003 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222003] Re: Can't contact LDAP server
I've followed the same guide (but only for clients, my server is running Debian with openldap). The Ubuntu client that I'm using is Intrepid (although it seems this is a rather common error no matter distribution). I've tried every combination of settings on the client, and it seems to work as finger ldapuser returns nice information. ldapsearch -x also returns the user database... So it's only PAM that can't connect: Oct 15 14:06:52 stavanger login[4135]: pam_ldap: ldap_simple_bind Can't contact LDAP server Oct 15 14:06:52 stavanger login[4135]: pam_ldap: reconnecting to LDAP server... I get the same on my amd64 with nonfree flash player, -- was just about to file the bug (well Apport was) but I see they've got 10.000 duplicates.
