[Bug 268435] Re: Documentation uses codenames, no match with release numbers

If the page is on help.ubuntu.com/community you can always edit the page
yourself to make the fix. If the page is immutable please raise a bug on
that particular page rather than make this a meta-bug.

[Bug 255088] Re: About ubuntu fails to load

2008-08-05 Thread Old_Soldier
at first look the issue appeared to be in legalnotice.xml since it
doesn't validate. Giving an error about extra content.

However changing the include for ../../libs/C/legalnotice.xml back to
the entity legalnotice; fixes the validation error and allows the page
to load. probably not the desired fix but it works. I'll dig further and
see if I can find a better way to correct the problem.

2008-07-20 Thread Old_Soldier
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

Additionally it would be helpful to see the actual command you used and
or script you were trying to run in order to sort this out.

[Bug 249932] Re: Xubuntu documentation displays draft on the background

2008-07-18 Thread Old_Soldier
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. However this is not
a bug as far the online documentation is concerned.

The domain docs.ubuntu.com is a draft/preview site. As far as the actual
xubuntu documents package being marked as draft I'll have to defer to on
of the maintainers of the xubuntu docs package since I can't verify that
or prepare a patch.

On the bright side there have been rumblings that the xubuntu docs
package may be done in the same format as the ubuntu docs instead of a
large meta document viewed in firefox.

Chuck

[Bug 238040] Re: it's not convenient to use

This is more of a feature request item/ question than a bug. Using
multiple accounts in evolution is very easily done. Just enable the
account in preferences and you will have the option to send mail from
that account simply by selecting the account in the drop down from field
in a new mail.

Converting this bug to a question in the hopes that your feedback will

[Bug 48840] Re: name of a programme is not its command [desktopguide - config-system]

2008-06-28 Thread Old_Soldier
Duncan:
By my understanding, the section of documentation was removed. Setting this
bug to in progress would imply that the section is being reinstated and
someone is actively working on it at the moment. I'm not sure how extensive
the fix would be, but there is probably a very good reason the fix was to
remove a section of documentation.

was marked fix released. If Wishlist is still valid and you are
interested in rewriting the document, you could always contact the

[Bug 239912] Re: Thank you for overwriting my bootloader

2008-06-13 Thread Old_Soldier
In the advanced options you can choose where to install grub. As for
Ubuntu not finding your Debian installation it is probably exactly like
you said- separate /boot.

I understand its annoying, but I have multibooted many combinations of Debian
and Ubuntu without ever once having an issue with the OS not being picked up or
grub being put in a place I didn't want it to be installed. there is a very
nice tutorial on the Ubuntu forums about multibooting using chainload or
configuration files. take a look at it, it may make your life easier the next
time you want to multiboot.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=724817

I am marking this as invalid because you can't call it a bug if you
missed the installation options.

(sudo: unable to resolve host lamaquina) indicates your host name in
/etc/hosts doesnt match your hostname in /etc/hostname.

To resolve that issue change /etc/hosts and remove any suffixes to the
hostname. starting in early alpha of ubuntu 8.04 this has been an issue.
It is probably best to do this from a root login (recovery mode)

Once you have done this the sudo problems should disappear.

[Bug 238112] Re: The help system reports that the xml files are invalid - This happens with all help topics

2008-06-08 Thread Old_Soldier
this is likely not a bug. try running this command
 yelp /usr/share/gnome/help/files-and-docs/C/files-and-docs.xml

and see if you get the same error message

yelp /usr/share/gnome/help/about-ubuntu/C/about*
should open the about Ubuntu help. if these files are corrupted you will
probably need to reinstall the package ubuntu-docs

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-docs

Try using another software source by manually editing your
/etc/apt/sources list or choosing another download server in
systemadministration software sources. There is alos an option to
allow update manager to choose the best server, this sometimes help if
your local servers are swamped.

[Bug 211814] [NEW] [hardy] Undeleteable files in Nautilus

2008-04-04 Thread Old_Soldier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Description:Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
Release:8.04

nautilus:
  Installed: 1:2.22.1-1ubuntu3

  Version table:
 *** 1:2.22.1-1ubuntu3 0

100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Files show in Users Trash bin and are not deletable. Doing gksudo
nautilus or ls -al from the command line shows no files in ~./Trash

Refreshing the trash bin does not remove the ghost files. I have also
verified with pcmanfm and rox-filer : both show the trash as empty.
These utilities were not installed until after the issue arose.

I also looked on my data partitions for /.Trash. folders and
deleted them as well. all to no effect.
