[Bug 991858] Re: volume keys stop working after brightness keys are used
The reason the fn + audio keys don't do anything is that the commands in ~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml are lik commandamixer -q sset Master 3%+/command commandamixer -q sset Master 3%-/command commandamixer -q sset Master toggle/command The problem with this is that amixer can't find anything on my system with the -c1 option there. [Bug 991970] [NEW] notebook goes back to sleep immediately after being resumed

If I have xfce4-power-manger set to suspend on lid close, then when I open the lid and press a key to resume it, the notebook resumes briefly and then goes backt to sleep. My guess is that maybe xfce4-power-manager is getting a spurrious lid close event after or during the first wakeup. A second key press resumes it again and then it stays awake like it's supposed to. If I disable the use of the lid key for suspsend and do it manually using the sleep key (fn + F12), then I don't have the problem. I have a Dell Mini 10v (atom N270, Intel GMA 950 graphics) running 11.10 and Unity. I sshed into it from another machine and ran top. If I have gnome-terminal maximized and sitting at the shell prompt, then compiz consumes a steady 2% cpu. If I have firefox maximized (like right now with this page's tab showing), compiz consumes a steady 3% cpu. If I play a video in vlc or smplayer, then compiz consumes 17-18% cpu constantly. I don't understand why compiz needs to consume even 2 or 3% cpu when doing nothing (firefox does the same, btw). [Bug 911992] Re: video apps using wrong xv overlay type in Unity 2D
I'm not sure I really understand it as well as I thought. In Unity 2D, i get really bad video playback unless I can force the app to use the Video Overlay xv adapter. And for example, in smplayer, I get blue window when it starts up, which I guess is from the Video Overlay. When I switch back to Unity 3D, I get good performance and the blue background using Video Overlay. But I also get good performance, and no blue background, (again in smplayer) using the default xv, or using Textured Video. My package version of xserver-xorg-video-intel is 2:2.15.901-1ubuntu2.1 I changed from Unity 3D to 2D, and the performance of video playback apps became very bad (adobe flash, vlc, mplayer, smplayer). I found that xvinfo was listing two video overlay adpaters. The first was Textured Video and the 2nd was Video Overlay. I assumed the problem was they were using Textured Video when they should be using Video Overlay. I was able to tell smplayer and mplayer to use Video Overlay, and their performance returned to normal. I was not able to figure out how to tell adobe flash or vlc which adapter to use. My theory is that compiz in Unity 3D is acquiring exclusive use of the Textured Video overlay, so that the apps don't try to use it. But in Unity 2D metacity isn't using it, so the video playback apps naively use the first available xv adapter they find. I think the solution would be to change the driver to report the Video Overlay adapter first and the Textured Video adapter second. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/911992 Title: video apps using wrong xv overlay type in Unity 2D To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/911992/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 212441] Re: Mediatomb Init Script not working : upnp error -117
Unfortunately the workaround proposed in the mediatomb faq no longer works on Jaunty as detailed by comment #4. I also tried setting eth0 in the interface file and tried removing network manager and tried moving mediatomb to start after NetworkManager in rc2 (the apparent default runlevel) but none of those worked. I also tried a script with a sleep of 60 seconds then it would restart mediatomb and that also didn't work. I wanted to emulate the behaviour of the ntp daemon which seems to start with the network. On further investigation I found the directories if- up.d and if-down.d in /etc/network which contain scripts that run when the network comes up and goes down respectively. Emulating a line from the ntp script I created two scripts for mediatomb. The one in if-up.d executes: invoke-rc.d mediatomb restart and in if-down.d it executes: invoke-rc.d mediatomb stop After I rebooted my machine mediatomb now starts up automatically with the network. I'm attaching a tar archive with the two scripts, you can cd to /etc/network and untar the archive there. Last thing, the links in the rcX directories are now pointless so I removed mine by executing: sudo update-rc.d -f mediatomb remove And finally, you can always check /var/log/mediatomb.log for details on if mediatomb is running. ** Attachment added: scripts to start and stop mediatomb with the network http://launchpadlibrarian.net/29505275/mediatombnetscripts.tar -- Mediatomb Init Script not working : upnp error -117 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212441 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 102973] Re: dmraid looking for raid45 when kernel uses raid456
Hi Chad, I'm sorry to say that this most likely wont be fixed in time for Feisty's release. In order to have a proper and stable release different parts of Ubuntu have to be frozen at different times, and the kernel was frozen back on April 5th: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeistyReleaseSchedule Since this bug depends on a module being in the kernel, either raid45, dm-raid45 or raid456, this means this bug wont be fixed in time for Feisty. The update-rc.d -f remove is in preparation to run: dh_installinit -p dmraid -- start 11 S . start 51 0 6 . later on in the rules. It used to be: dh_installinit -p dmraid -- start 04 S . start 51 0 6 . Without that dmraid gets two entries in rcS.d... [Bug 98846] Re: dmraid starts before udev in rcS.d
I'm a green packager so I'll take any advice you give, but I was working on the premise that the call to dh_installinit always exists in the rules so in subsequent upgrades the update-rc.d -f remove will get called and dh_installinit will put back the file. -- dmraid starts before udev in rcS.d https://launchpad.net/bugs/98846 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 93810] Re: dmraid not starting on system boot
I just checked and yes, dmraid is initializing before udev in rcS.d. What this means is that dmraid sets up the devices in /dev/mapper, then udev is run and it completely rebuilds /dev, throwing out what dmraid did. Currently udev is initialized at S10 and dmraid at S04, it should be changed to S11. -- dmraid not starting on system boot https://launchpad.net/bugs/93810 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 93810] Re: dmraid not starting on system boot
Can someone who is currently experiencing this error test with this new deb? It's the same upstream version, the only difference is that dmraid is initialised at S11 instead of S04, i.e. after udev. [Bug 65809] Re: Delete imported images from the camera doesn't
I got that impression from reading my camera's manual. It did not explicitly say that you can't delete over PTP, but it did say to use PTP only for printing (PictBridge) and use USB for PC. And since I got this error it just fit to me. In the USB mode things work as expected. I also used gThumb on a Dakota Digital Single Use camera that gThumb supports in PTP mode, but there also it does not delete. However, according to this blog post by a gphoto2 contributor it seems that deleting over PTP is possible, but not in all cameras: http://www.advogato.org/person/Marcus/diary.html?start=105 I'm aware that you're also a gphoto2 contributor. Hopefully gThumb will detect the delete-ability of cameras and enable/disable this option as needed. -- Delete imported images from the camera doesn't https://launchpad.net/bugs/65809 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 65809] Re: Delete imported images from the camera doesn't
Hi, it's been quite some time since I experienced this bug, however since then I realised that this option only applies when the camera is in USB Mass Storage Mode and not PTP Mode, which is what I was in when I got this error. From my limited understanding of how things are supposed to work I believe that in PTP Mode the memory is read-only. In this case the option to Delete imported images from the camera should not even be selectable since it will never happen. -- Delete imported images from the camera doesn't https://launchpad.net/bugs/65809 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
