[Bug 1881421] [NEW] Thinkpad T440s trackpad and trackpoint stop working after resume from suspend
Public bug reported: Hi, this is a sporadic issue that sometimes appears, sometimes not. Usually once it starts happening it occurs on every suspend/resume cycle until the system is rebooted. The trackpad and the red trackpoint nub stop working after resume. This is on a Thinkpad T440s laptop currently running a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 with Gnome and no major modifications. Usually the trackpad can be fixed by unloading/loading the `psmouse` module. Thanks. [Bug 1702878] Re: Cant add folders to Search in Gnome Control Center
Thanks for the information, I am using gnome-search-tool for my searches and it is pretty good, Gnome Files I didnt use much. [Bug 1702878] Re: Cant add folders to Search in Gnome Control Center
sudo apt install tracker helped and now the icon is no longer greyed out. I checked the bug you linked and I definitely think that search in new Ubuntu Session needs to be improved, Unity dash searched for all my files easily and they were always very quickly accessible, KDE does the same with Baloo indexing, everything is easily found in KDE menu search. That is the feature I miss the most from Unity on this new Gnome based session, that and minimize on click option for dock. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1702878 Title: Cant add folders to Search in Gnome Control Center To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1702878/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1723835] Re: Dock - Clicking icon doesn't minimize
I agree with this, if Ubuntu wants to make life easier for users in this new desktop environment minimize on click is essential to it, dash to dock fully supports that option so I dont know why it is not included in Ubuntu dock, I am using 17.10 and I really miss that functionality, also Ubuntu needs an integrated search like the one in Unity dash because default Gnome search is anything but useful, I needed to install gnome- search-tool to have access to proper search functionality, these two things I consider essential in making new Ubuntu desktop usable, currently it is neither a copy of Unity nor vanilla Gnome so it doesnt have strengths of neither, I understand this is a transitory phase, but in my opinion Ubuntu desktop needs to be either pushed towards copying Unity as much as possible with extensions (existing or new ones) and perhaps a MacOS like search or just leave it as vanilla Gnome with Ubuntu fonts and theme. Current state is neither Unity nor Gnome which doesnt serve much purpose in the long run. App indicators dont work properly either with some applications (tiny or non existent icons) while TopIcons Plus extension on Gnome 3.26 still works flawlessly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1723835 Title: Dock - Clicking icon doesn't minimize To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock/+bug/1723835/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1516913] [NEW] can't install arping due to conflicts with iputils-arping
Public bug reported: This bug needs to be raised against the arping and iputils-arping packages. arping and iputils-arping both provide a binary called arping. It is impossible to install arping as iputils-arping conflicts with arping (and many other packages do as well) arping provides capabilities that iputils-arping does not including pinging a mac address among other things. As the 2 versions of arping use conflicting options and offer different functionality they should not both have the same name. Even worse ifupdown-extra depends on arping while the iputils-* requires iputils-arping. This results in ifupdown-exta being uninstallable on a standard desktop system (network manager depends on iputils-arping) There are a number of bugs around regarding this, some dating back over 10 years. eg: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/arping/+bug/833546 Perhaps it is time for the two maintainers to merge their projects to solve this for ever, or at least rename one of them. simple solution would be rename arping package and binary to arp-ping This system is Mint17 but this issue exits on all debian based systems and probably other distros as well. ** Affects: linuxmint Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: iputils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: iputils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1516913 Title: can't install arping due to conflicts with iputils-arping To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1516913/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1498031] [NEW] Ubuntu 15.10 does not differentiate between Windows loader and recovery partitions
Public bug reported: I have a laptop with a Windows 7 partition and another Windows restore/recovery partition. Ubuntu 15.04 correctly labels them accordingly in the GRUB menu, but the Ubuntu 15.10 beta just labels them both as Windows 7. This is a problem because you have to guess which is for booting into Windows and which is for booting into the recovery environment. It is also a regression that appeared in 15.10. ** Affects: os-prober (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: I have a laptop with a Windows 7 partition and another Windows restore/recovery partition. [Bug 1498034] [NEW] [15.10 Regression] Sony Vaio has problems resuming from suspend
Public bug reported: I had Ubuntu 15.04 with Unity on a Sony Vaio laptop. Resuming from suspend worked just fine. But after a fresh install of the 15.10 beta, it has trouble resuming. Instead of showing the screen locker, it shows the previous screen with a mouse pointer over the "suspend" item in the user cog icon menu. (I suspend it from that menu, not the key combination.) After a few seconds it shows the lock screen, but the password field doesn't accept input for several seconds more. Finally the screen blinks and it starts accepting password input. This process used to be smooth and instantaneous with 15.04, now it's extremely slow and buggy. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1498034 Title: [15.10 Regression] Sony Vaio has problems resuming from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1498034/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
