[Bug 1415880] Re: 14e4:4365 bcmwl-kernel source: fix for null pointer crash
Just a note to confirm that wily's bcmwl-kernel-source_6.30.223.248 +bdcom-0ubuntu4.1_amd64.deb works a treat. I've been running it for a few days now, and I've gotten to the point where I trust it enough to close the lid even when walking to a nearby conference room a couple of seconds away. I haven't had a single panic since installing the package. The problem goes away for a while (hours?) if you right click on an empty region of the web page. If I don't do that and instead try to right click on a link, I get the same wrong behaviour. It is never random per click when it is misbehaving. -- firefox 3 right-click menu chooses random options https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/206295 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of a duplicate bug (via bug 187313). Status in “firefox-3.0” source package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 When I right click on an item in firefox 3, occasionally the menu does not appear, but instead firefox chooses an item at random from the menu and executes that. It seems to happen more frequently if the system/firefox is under load (eg when update-manager is updating or when many tabs are open in firefox). It *might* be that holding the mouse button down longer prevents it from happening, but it's hard to tell because of the random nature of the bug. [Bug 254458] Re: sdc error message filling up entire logs
Booting without USB attached didn't fix either problem. In the end, I used rsync to clone Ubuntu from my old hard drive onto my new hard drive, and after I rebooted, all of the problems went away. Suspend/resume started working again, X stopped crashing when I changed resolutions, and I'm not getting these phantom READ CAPACITY problems any more, either. I suggest, as a work-around, to install Hardy and upgrade to Intrepid, rather than installing Intrepid from the live CD. --- SER -- sdc error message filling up entire logs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/254458 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 228746] Re: USB stops working after a while
After cloning my old hard drive (Intrepid upgraded from Hardy) to the new hard drive (Intrepid from live CD) the problems went away, and USB is now stable. --- SER -- USB stops working after a while https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228746 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 228746] Re: USB stops working after a while
I get this error, too. In my case, the laptop does have an MMC/SD card reader, but no cards are being inserted when this event occurs. Additionally, this has *only* started happening since I performed a fresh Intrepid install on a new hard drive. With a different hard drive that has Intrepid installed -- but installed via an upgrade from Hardy -- I do not see this problem. The last time this happened to me, USB was working when I went to bed and was hung when I woke up. I do see that lsusb hangs; I do see that USB stops working; I do not see the kernel stack traces. --- SER -- USB stops working after a while https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228746 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 254458] Re: sdc error message filling up entire logs
I can confirm that this is still a problem on the 8.10 CD. I installed Kubuntu 8.10 x86 from CD, and /var/log/kernel is getting filled with the following messages: Mar 29 09:59:05 bean kernel: [ 3666.846313] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] READ CAPACITY failed Mar 29 09:59:05 bean kernel: [ 3666.846318] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Result: hostbyte=DID_ERROR driverbyte=DRIVER_OK,SUGGEST_OK Mar 29 09:59:05 bean kernel: [ 3666.846322] sd 2:0:0:0: [sdb] Sense not available. This is a laptop with a single drive, and no CDROM. Interestingly, on this same laptop on a different hard drive, I have Intrepid installed through an upgrade from Hardy (not a fresh install) and this problem does not occur there. Yes, this is still a live bug. --- SER -- sdc error message filling up entire logs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/254458 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 254458] Re: sdc error message filling up entire logs
Ser can you confirm if you have any such hardware ( block device inputs) that the sd driver might be having a problem with? Yes, my laptop has an SD/MMC slot (an HP TC4200). Nothing is in the slot, though. I've been running Kubuntu on this laptop for over a year, and Intrepid for a couple of months; it was only after I installed Intrepid fresh from the live CD onto a new hard drive that this problem appeared. Intrepid from the live CD appears to have a number of regressions that I'm struggling with, and I'm not yet sure which are related. At the moment, I'm not seeing this particular problem. I was also having trouble with the boot process hanging at starting the bluetooth service, but I read somewhere that booting the machine without any USB devices attached stops this from happening so I tried it, and it seems to have cured this bug as well. Or, it could just be coincidence; I'm not sure yet. However, I'm still having trouble with the USB -- lsusb just hangs into an unkillable process with no errors in dmesg. It feels as if the Intrepid live CD is utterly borked. I may re-install from Hardy and upgrade to Intrepid -- that's what's on my other hard drive, and it doesn't have these problems. --- SER -- sdc error message filling up entire logs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/254458 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
