[Bug 144406] Re: some windows do not appear in the window list
I still have this issue in Xubuntu 12.04 LTS with Matlab R2009a in the xfce4-panel. The main matlab window and the editor window. I have to use Alt+TAB shortcut to access de window because it dissapears from XFCE Panel. Any ideas? [Bug 1108980] [NEW] thunderbird message preview pane do not honor global character encoding settings
Public bug reported:
character encoding is set to UTF-8 for incoming and outgoing messages in Edit
Preferences : Display Advanced.
In the review pane, the message is shown with Western ISO-8859-1 as seen in
View Character Encoding. When manually change it to UTF-8 it work, but when
clicking on other message and going back, te Western character encoding is
restored.
Is there other global character encoding hidden in somwhere else?
If not, this is defenitey a bug.
P.S: The auto-detect menu in View Character Encoding changes
nothing. I tried set auto detect to off and Universal and no change.

Ok, i solved the issue going to Edit Preferences Display: under Fonts Advanced and there was Western ISO .. and UTF-8 encodings in outgoing and incoming. The issue still in the sense that you actually can set up UTF-8 encoding when composing messages and when hit send, Thunderbird changes the encoding to Western and the spanish tildes go bananas and the PGP sign gives a different hash that the one that was calculated in UTF-8 ebcoding. This is still an issue because when you change encoding for a particular message, the above setting overrides it and messes up with the PGP sign validity. When composing a message, everything is fine. I write some text like this one:

Then when i hit send, it signs the message and sets up the ASCII
markings BEGIN OF PGP SIGNED MESSAJE - and so... and then the
body of the message transforms to this one.

Is this a bug? When i send this message it appears fine in the Sent
folder... and i tried to send messages for myself and in thunderbird it
looks allright too. But i send to my wife that she use Evolution mail
and it shows with the strange characters. The same characters that
Thunderbird shows when it is signing the message.
Any ideas?

I can confirm the bug is in Enigmail, because sending the same message without signing, the character encoding is the correct one. Also i confirmed that Evolution is not mis-reading the mail. I sent a mail from k-9 mail client from my android ICS tablet signed with the same private key and Evolution reads the message fine. In Evolution, btw, the message footer says Key is not Valid and my wife kave my public key in seahorse, that confirms that Enigmail is messing up with the keys. The same signed message sent from k-9 says Key Valid in the message footer. Isn't this a security issue? i'll mark like one. This is a message in my Sent folder. It appears to have a not valid signature, crazy because i send it. Instead of the strange characters it should be the áéíóú string with tildes. This bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1022433) that i filled some time ago is a duplicate of this one, This is a very serious bug, a lot of users that i know had lost many data on USB pendrives because they think the files are already copied so they pull the USB stick out and afterwards they cannot read the content that has been partially copied. Is there any way to boot with an older kernel version that is not affected by this bug? [Bug 1024522] [NEW] thunderbird cannot move over 1000 messages to another folder

I'm trying to migrate from evolution to thunderbird in ubuntu 12.04 and
i cannot place mi mail (15k messages) in the corresponding folders.
Although i found almost impossible to migrate my mail given that
evolution was the previous default email client and now is thunderbird,
when trying to move those 15k mails into particular folders i loose
feedback and it start copying mails at 1 or 2 mails per second as shown
in the status bar.
is this a bug? now iḿ trying to get mails copied but only ~200 mails
each time... si i have 15k, you do the math how long i'll be

Public bug reported: When copying a file, like a movie or something, nautilus shows the progress bar immediately almost complete and 0 secs of remaining time... and stays like that for the time that actually takes to copy the file in a pendrive, like a minute and also showing 42MB/sec copying speed that is out of the pendrive limits, that pendrive copy at 4.3MB/s, not 40MB/s. Public bug reported: I have ubuntu 12.04 and updated to XFCE 4.10 from PPA. Then i decided to downgrade again to 4.8 using ppa-purge. I successfully downgraded to 4.8 but, as a sort of residual bug, every time i hit a shortcut for browser, xfce-session crashes and prompt for login. as a workaround i set the shortcut to simply firefox and not the exo-open link... Even after reseting the directories mentioned in post #3, hitting Super+W (the default shortcut to Firefox) the session crashes the same. So, may be is something that got misconfigured after the downgrade. I understand the danger of downgrading, but it appeared in many posts (some of those blogs, really popular) about doing this upgrade to XFCE 4.10 and at the end they wrote if you want to go back install ppa- purge and hit this 2 commands in terminal, that simple. If this is not that simple, i mean, if after doing this one gets an unstable behavior, that should be pointed out clearly. I wonder what else may resulted misconfigured. Is any good to try some apt-get install xubuntu-desktop --reinstall or reconfigure somehow? When digging more in the problem, i realized that after the downgrade of XFCE 4.10 to 4.8 the system also upgraded other 50MB of packages and after that asked to restart the computer. I did so, and the odd thing i remember is i will have to install proprietary ATI drivers again. I use hardware 3D acceleration because i use MatLab and 3D plots. And after the downgrade and those updates, and after restarting the machine, ATI drivers were working and i did not have to install them again. but when i started to plot some 3D graphics, matlab hanged. So i realized that not only the exo-open --launch WebBrowser was not working, but MatLab was not giving me 3D plots. So i reinatalled ATI Drivers and Matlab worked again, and exo-open --launch WebBrowser worked too!! it was a ATI Driver problem. Tagging solved. I gave to my wife a new Samsung N150 Plus Netbook last year. Last month the hard drive died but the warranty covered a new hard drive, so it was fine. Now with the new hard drive i was able to hear every 6 seconds that the heads are parking, and i tried many things and i cannot make it stop. Now i wonder the first hard drive (the one that died 1 months ago and my wife lost tons of data) died because of this bug. I know that this is an old bug now, but in this netbook is defenitly back and i tried adding this command in /etc/init.d sudo hdparm -B 255 /dev/sda even i tried to edit the laptop_mode.conf settings to do no power management in this hard drive and i had no luck, the packages had changed over the last versions of ubuntu and i do not know where to edit to disable this powr management. Now this hard drive has over 16000 load cycle counts and it keeps growing. I tried to apply the first short patch dated 5 dec and it did patched with the --ignore-whitespace, but the machine did not booted. Then i tried to apply the patch dated Dec 22 it could not patch even with the ignore spaces parameter. Then i applied patches dated Dec 20 first and Dec 22 after that and both applied with -43 lines offset i believe. The machine wont boot either and freezes in plymouth splash, but the message shown in my photo is not shown anymore. After pressing Ctrl+C during plymouth y see this error message: mountall: plymouth command failed Will i get any change to restore my system? or should i start considering to do formatting and reinstallation without encryption? I tried to apply the patches here posted but it gives hunk errors... in line 641 for the patch in #14, line 631 in #22 and some other line in #16... i always restored the original and even did sudo apt-get install cryptsetup --reinstall to re install de pachage that i hope overwrites the original script. I updated my system with apt-get update in recovery mode in the option enable network but the PC cannot actually boot by itself in to the desktop. I tried to apply patch described in comment #10 but at first it returned Hunk errors at line @641 and it did not apply the patch. Then I added the --ignore-whitespace parameter and it applied the patch at line #598... this was the output: Hunk #1 secceeded at 598 with fuzz 2 (offset -43 lines) But the machine won't boot. I only have 2 partitions. and my home encrypted, /dev/sda1 for / and /dev/sda2 for swap. I'll replace the .orig script and wait until someone came up with some other idea. I figured out to boot enabling the network in recovery mode and updated my system but no fix still. I tried editing fstab sudo nano /etc/fstab and uncommented the swap line but system wont boot either, this time the message is not shown. This is a big f nasty bug btw. Is there anyway to get that patch and apply it in my machine in through recovery mode? maybe sudo apt-get with some repo or something? thanks... i don't think i can mount a pendrive and copy stuff... when y try to mount it it says the device is not in fstab... I updated my Xubuntu Precise beta 1 and cannot boot up. It freezes as everybody explained here, i can log in to recovery mode and see in terminal my encrypted home and my files, but that is so far i can get. I tried to insert a pendrive to backup somethings but /dev/sde as dmesg says, is not in fstab file, so i cannot mount it. Another thing i did is to connect the pc to ethernet and select enable network and did sudo apt-get install -f, sudo apt-get update, and upgrade too, but system won't boot big time. This update broke my system i hope a fix will restore it as soon as possible. Cheese load the video image (the same way, ugly colors and inverted) but this time for 2 seconds and it freezes and stays there. In Oneiric up to date (latest kernel) amd 64 the webcam looks the same. I installed the webcam in Windows XP in Virtualbox and webcam looks good, correct orientation image and colors too. [Bug 958054] Re: System wont boot up with ATI Catalyst driver in Ubuntu Precise ATI HD 5450
I managed to overcome this bug by uninstalling all ATI catalyst driver and installing afterwards the FGLRX (post-update version) in Hardware Drivers section. That fixed 3D acceleration, I wonder why ATI Binary was unable to install correctly. Upstream Kernel tested, although i had different illumination now, the colors seemed to be a little better, but when i turned on mi desk lamp it's like the camera driver cannot handle color saturation and overexposure. The image is essentially the same, upside down. The hernel tested is linux- image-3.3.0-030300rc7-generic_3.3.0-030300rc7.201203101735_amd64. A screenshot of the bug, in the mail you see that some text appears to be selected, in fact the only thing i did was clicking on the ACTIVATE button inside this example email after clicking in activate button, no browser is launched but the above text is selected somehow. I just wanted to give a more clear picture of the bug. Another fact: The browser with the link is not launched the first click, BUT making a double click it launches the browser. This is affecting all HTML messages, not plain text links.
