[Bug 2058277] Re: [SRU] 2.62

2024-04-23 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Hello Brian, I don't see a relation with snapd in the error, it seems to
be unrelated. Is it possible to re-execute the tests please?

Also manual tests have been executed in noble using snapd from the ppa.

I ran a smoke tests and everything was ok. Also the integration with the

[Bug 1955137] Re: [SRU] 2.54

2022-01-25 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Hi, these test failures are not issues in snapd, those are related to
the tests, I'll work on adapting those tests to make then work for SRU
validation.

When we run tests for sru validation, reexec is disabled and the snapd
deb package is not generated as usual, this is making some tests fail in
this case.

Thanks for the review.

[Bug 1872803] Re: VM reboots using qemu and kvm with ovmf

2020-04-15 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
# To be clear with "starts rebooting" do you mean the host or the guest
that reboots?

The gust reboot, and I can see in the journal log of the host machine
that error line -> kvm [62484]: vcpu0, guest rIP

# Did you also see the same issue without OVMF/TPM enabled in the
cmdline or is that a hard dependency to trigger the bug?

TPM is independent, I tested with and without tpm and the reboots
happen. If I run without ovmf I can't reproduce the issue, the reboots
don't happen.

# In a similar fashion to help reproducing for others, doe this also
happen to your setup outside of GCE or is it only happening there?

I also tested in DigitalOcean and I see the reboots like in gce.

# Please feel free to add anything else that comes to your mind that
could help recreating the issue.

I use this script to reproduce the issue:
https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/DnVM4fCvnB/

# In general I think eventually you might add as much extra information
to this bug and then open it up to qemu-upstream (add a Qemu task to the
bug here will mirror it to the mailing list). That increases the chance
of others that are running on GCE to see this and chime in if it is any
sort of known issue.

Some important info I remember is that it can be reproduce in ubuntu
focal and seems to be happening when we try to virtualize over a VM like
either in GCE or DigitalOcean

I'll review my logs to see which extra information I could add.

Thanks

[Bug 1872803] [NEW] VM reboots using qemu and kvm with ovmf

2020-04-14 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Public bug reported:

I am running a vm on google cloud engine (gce)

I a trying to run some nested tests for ubuntu core 20 using ovmf and
tpm. The proble we have with this is that when using kvm we see random
reboots on the vm during first boot. If I set more than 1 cpu like in
the following example I see the random reboots much more often.

How we run the vm:
/usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 -smp 2 -m 4096 -machine ubuntu-q35,accel=kvm
-global ICH9-LPC.disable_s3=1 -nographic -net nic, model=virtio -net
user,hostfwd=tcp::8022-:22 -drive
file=/usr/share/OVMF/OVMF_CODE.secboot.fd,if=pflash,format=raw,unit=0,readonly=on
 -drive
file=/tmp/work-dir/image/OVMF_VARS.snakeoil.fd,if=pflash,format=raw,unit=1
-chardev socket,id=chrtpm,path=/var/snap/swtpm-mvo/current/swtpm-sock -tpmdev
emulator,id=tpm0,chardev=chrtpm -device tpm-tis,tpmdev=tpm0 -drive
file=/tmp/work-dir/image/ubuntu-core-new.img,cache=none,format=raw,id=disk1,if=none
 -device virtio-blk-pci,drive=disk1,bootindex=1 -monitor
tcp:127.0.0.1:,server,nowait -usb

When using only 1 cpu (-smp 1) there are less reboots bet then when
running test if the cpu of qemu arrives to 100% then the machine also
starts rebooting

Error I see in logs:
Every time the machine is rebooted I see this line in the journal logs:
Apr 14 18:35:57 apr141722-614284 kernel: kvm [62484]: vcpu0, guest rIP:
0xbc4788b4 disabled perfctr wrmsr: 0xc2 data 0x

The reboots are not happening when kvm is not used.

Thanks

[Bug 1869435] Re: Performance regression on ubuntu focal

2020-03-30 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Hi,

In our tests logs we see that focal is slower than other systems like
bionic. I printed all the commands we run with the times and noticed the
main diff on times is when running different systemd commands. So I did
a very small script to compare basic calls that we use in our snapd test
suite.

Now I did a new comparison between focal and bionic but changed the
paramenters compared with the previous logs, now I am using the calls we
see in our tests which are slower on focal compared with bionic.

script used: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/JG977dRXMy/
results bionic: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/GDfnwMMTF2/
results focal: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/GDfnwMMTF2/

All the results are in milliseconds. With these logs I think is more
clear the performance difference between both, i.e. "systemctl list-
unit-files --full" taks almost the double on bionic than focal.

Does it make sense? Do you need more info?

Thanks

[Bug 1869435] [NEW] Performance regression on ubuntu focal

2020-03-27 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Public bug reported:

Hello, I noticed that systmed is performin some tasks much faster in
bionic than in focal,

I created a script which iterates doing some operations and executed
that on bionic and focal: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/zWWQjndtXx/

I see for example how systemctl daemon reload takes more time in focal
even where there are less units than in bionic

results:
bionic: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/z32WScydNk/
eoan: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/V98vd5CHwq/
focal: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/brNjKvC2gF/

The tests was done in gce using clean instances type n1-standard-2.

Please tell me if you need any extra info

[Bug 1831490] Re: kernel is out of memory and killed during a kernel sys_write operation

2019-06-04 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
As the error is happening in ubuntu core 16 on i386, I couldn't install
the apport snap due to is is not available for this arch (just for
amd64). So I installed classic and generated the report from there, but
I am not sure this information is the one you want.

[Bug 1778936] Re: please re-add Support-system-image-read-only-etc.patch

2018-12-05 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Finally I could verify the fix works well and fixes the issue.

We are building core18 image using the snap which has systemd from
proposed.

Steps to validate:

1. build core18 snap using proposed
  > git clone -b master https://git.launchpad.net/snap-core18
  > cd snap-core18
  > sed -i -e 's/current/pending/g' Makefile
  > sudo snapcraft
2. prepare test
  > git clone https://github.com/sergiocazzolato/snapd.git
  > git checkout tests-validate-lp-1778936
  > cd snapd
  > < copy the core18_18_amd64.snad to tests/lib/ directory >
3. run the tests
  > spread -debug

[Bug 1778936] Re: please re-add Support-system-image-read-only-etc.patch

2018-12-05 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
@xnox

Hello, I validated the fix on core18 but I still see the error trying to
set the hostname

This line is failing:

+ test-snapd-sh.with-hostname-control-plug -c 'hostnamectl set-hostname
localhost'
Could not set property: Failed to set static hostname: Read-only file system

I created a branch where I build snapd using systemd from proposed
"systemd (= 237-3ubuntu10.10)", and then I use that snapd fo build the
ubuntu core 18 where I execute the test.

The test which is failing is
https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/blob/master/tests/main/interfaces-
hostname-control/task.yaml.

Thanks

[Bug 1715004] [NEW] Network configuration timed out updating network configuration on a dragonboard

2017-09-04 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Public bug reported:

I run console-conf on my dragonboard (using stable release 2.27.5). I try to
change my wifi configuration and I see this error message:
"Network configuration timed out; please verify your settings."

This is what I see in the syslog https://paste.ubuntu.com/25466659/

Steps to reproduce:
1- Initial setup with WiFi
2- Connect through ssh
3- run > sudo console-conf
4- Press Ok
5- Press Done
6- Wait ...

Same issue happens in case the wifi configuration is changed, instead of
leaving the same in step 5.

The same procedure works perfectly in the pi3.

- I downloaded the image
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/zesty-desktop-amd64.iso (also
tried with the previous one).
- Using virtual machine manager I create a vm and use that iso as image. I
tried selecting the os as ubuntu and generic. I set 2048 MB of RAM memory, 1
cpu and 20GB of disk.
- Then The language screen appears and I select English.
- In the next scree I select "Install ubuntu", then ubuntu starts without
asking nothing else.
- I can use ubuntu but if I reboot the machine I cannot use it anymore and I
see the error:

Booting from Hard Disk...
Boot failed: not a bootable disk
No bootable device

[Bug 1596892] [NEW] Arale is shutted down when power button is pressed when the greeter is visible

2016-06-28 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Public bug reported:

If I press the power button a dialog to select for reboot, shutdown, etc is
displayed. But when I press the button immediately when the greeter appears
(after start the device), this dialog does not appear and the device is shutted
down directly. If I wait few seconds after the greeter appears to press the
button the dialog will be displayed.

It is happening in Arale in the last version (362) and previous too.

[Bug 1574779] [NEW] "RuntimeError: Wrong Nr of events" executing the app-launch-profiler

2016-04-25 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Public bug reported:

I am getting errors when running the lttng profiler for the apps:
Calculator, music, Camera, Clock, Here, Gallery , Ebay

See the commands executed and the result here:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/16053036/
I also tested with different parametes and always got the same error (sometimes
it works)

To get the process to use, run ubuntu-app-triplet with the following
names for each app.

calculator: com.ubuntu.calculator
music: com.ubuntu.music
camera: com.ubuntu.camera
clock: com.ubuntu.clock
here: com.nokia.heremaps
gallery: com.ubuntu.gallery
ebay: com.ubuntu.developer.webapps.webapp-ebay

For the following apps, the results are ok: Messaging, Web Browser,
System Settings, Dialer, Address Book

[Bug 1550363] [NEW] Time to start gallery app is better when cache is not used

2016-02-26 Thread Sergio Cazzolato
Public bug reported:

I was doing some tests for the main apps calculating the time that the
app takes to start (from the app icon is clicked on apps scope until the
app is started and the spin loader disappear).

I did two kind of tests: cold and hot scenarios. The cold scenario is
when the app has not any cache QML stored, hot scenario is when the app
was previously opened and cache was created.

After analyze the results the only app that takes more time to open in a
hot scenario than cold scenario is the gallery app.

Attached is a graphic with the times that the app took for different
builds. The graphic includes just 4 builds but I have seen this behavior
in more than 20 builds.

Tests used to measure this are stored in https://code.launchpad.net
/ubuntu-system-tests project

I can provide more details about the tests and other results if needed.
