[Bug 1896176] [NEW] iwlwifi firmware error in SYNC CMD TDLS_CONFIG_CMD (Intel 8265 on Lenovo X1 Carbon)

2020-09-17 Thread Vaclav Rehak
Public bug reported:

I am experiencing almost 100% reproducible iwlwifi firmware crashes on
my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th, model 20KHS03800 connected to Turris
Omnia router on 5Gh. Anytime I send file from Android phone using
kdeconnect, my laptop disconnects from wifi.

The issue seems to be exactly same as
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203055
In fact, when I replace 36.9f0a2d68.0 firmware shipped with Bionic with the one
from https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=203055#c1 the issue is gone.

Logs from the failing version:

[Bug 1802283] Re: system freezes

2020-02-18 Thread Vaclav Rehak
I also experience system freezes, usually after resume from suspend on
X1 Carbon 6th. It happens on 4.18.0-15 and 5.3.0-40 kernels. I am
running with no issues for many months on 4.15, currently
4.15.0-88-generic.

For me the problem seems to be fixed with today update to network-
manager 1.2.6 in xenial-proposed. So far I did some 5-7 suspend/resume
cycles in different locations and everything seems to work.

I can confirm that after every resume my wifi is not working. I used to
"solve" it by network-manager restart but running "wpa_cli resume"
manually fixes the problem as well.

I tried the sleep workaround by Hans but it did not help. I can see this

To install the new kernel on xenial, enable Pre-release updates
(xenial-proposed) in System Settings - Software & Updates - Developer Options
and run
sudo apt-get install linux-generic-hwe-16.04-edge

After reboot you'll probably get this error.

[Bug 1390709] Re: Wifi doesn't reconnect after waking from sleep

2017-01-09 Thread Vaclav Rehak
There are so many open bugs on network-manager, wifi and resume that
it's difficult to find the right one to comment on. Anyway, trying e.g.
this one. Can the people having this problem comment on whether there is
Docker installed on their system?

I am specifically asking this question because a colleague of mine
claimed not have any problems with WiFi in Ubuntu but since he installed
Docker, the WiFi became so unusable that he was forced to use wired
connection. On my system network manager never worked good (being it
14.04 or 16.04) but I cannot comment on Docker as it was installed from
the very beginning.

[Bug 1594715] Re: wifi does not work roughly half of the times

2017-01-09 Thread Vaclav Rehak
Is there any plan to update network manager in Xenial to 1.2.6. In the
changelog at
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/tree/NEWS?h=1.2.6
I can see

* Fixed a bug that caused devices to stay unmanaged after resume from
sleep.

Not sure if it helps but maybe worth trying.

[Bug 1578193] Re: cannot load legacy-only plugin

2016-10-26 Thread Vaclav Rehak
@raharper I installed the packages from your PPA on 16.04 and I can
confirm that "IPSEC/IKEv2 (strongswan)" option is now present in nm-
applet.

But I'm not sure how can I configure L2TP VPN like this http://freel2tpvpn.com/
This VPN (as well as our company one I need to use) has short secret but the
nm-applet enforces that pre-shared secret must be at least 20 characters long.
Where does this requirement come from?

[Bug 1566222] Re: [xenial] USB camera MIC: no input or high pitch until pavucontrol is opened

2016-04-29 Thread Vaclav Rehak
I confirm the bug on 16.04 on Lenovo X1 Carbon (1st gen).

When I open the Sound Settings using the topbar sound icon, the Input
Volume and Input Level is greyed out. Then I run "pavucontrol" and
"Input Devices" tab says "No input device available".

It can be "fixed" in pavucontrol by going to Configuration tab and
selecting Profile: Analog Input Stereo. It seems to stay functional
until next reboot.

Forgot to mention in my comment that I am talking about the internal mic
in the ThinkPad (I have no USB mic attached).
