[Bug 1969917] Re: package ansible-core 2.12.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: installed ansible-core package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

2022-05-04 Thread Fredrik Jonson
A similar issue appears to have been adressed by Debian in issue
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1001040

Also ansible-core version 2.12.4-1 in Ubuntu appears to have the proper
build dependency.

http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/a/ansible-core/ansible-
core_2.12.4-1.dsc

Will ansible-core 2.12.4-1 be made available to Jaunty/22.04 or should
the patch be backported?

[Bug 1970669] [NEW] do-release-upgrade error says development version

2022-04-27 Thread Fredrik Larsson
Public bug reported:

When running do-release-upgrade on a LTS version that at the moment does
not having a upgrade path, the response is that there is no
*development* version available, which could be true, but since I'm
running on a stable release (20.04.4), I would think that it should look
for a non-development upgrade, and the failure to find such, should be
worded more correctly.

Thanks for the response. Executed the command "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" again
to follow any issues with the module install. There seamse to be some
issue with the installation related to the nvidia? Any sugestions?

[Bug 1936373] [NEW] missing arm packages for mythtv

2021-07-15 Thread Fredrik Olsson
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 21.04
Release:21.04

There seems to be some packages missing in both arm repositories for the
latest build of mythtv, the 202106102123 build addresses a bug where
scheduled recordings goes missing until one restarts the mythtv-backend
so it's quite an essential update.

[Bug 1922786] [NEW] Apt install of local deb files shows a notification causing confusion

2021-04-06 Thread Fredrik Lindersson
Public bug reported:

Installation for a local deb file shows a notification message that causes a
lot of confusion whether the package has been successfully installed or not.

Steps to reproduce
=
- Download a package file (xxx.deb)
- Install the package file from command line "sudo apt install ./xxx.deb"
- A notification messages shows up at the end of the installation saying:
"Download is performed unsandboxed as root as file
'/home/fredli/harddisc/External/Nordic/nRF-Command-Line-Tools_10_12_1_Linux-amd64.deb'
couldn't be accessed by user '_apt'. - pkgAcquire::Run (13: Permission denied)"

-> Expected no notification or warnings if installation finished
successfully.

It seems that this is only "Notifcation message" BUT it causes a lot of
confusion whether the package has been installed or not. The package
seems to be installed correctly from what I understand.

[Bug 1853369] Re: [19.10] Boot hangs at "loading initial ramdisk"

2020-05-21 Thread Fredrik Normann
@zeorin Thanks for that info. I had to do the following extra. Since I
use LUKS encrypted disk and uefi.

1) Open the encrypted disk in File explorer
2) Mount the lvm partition on /mnt
   mount /dev/ubuntu-vg/root /mnt

Mount boot
mount /dev/nvme0n1p2 /mnt/boot

Mount efi
mount /dev/nvme0n1p1 /mnt/boot/efi

Standard chroot mounts
mount --bind /proc /mnt/proc
mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev
mount --bind /sys /mnt/sys
mount --bind /run /mnt/run <-- This was not listed.

Then chroot into /mnt

After adding the new apt sources and pinning the grub version and 'apt
update && apt upgrade' I had to manually install 'grub2-common'. It did
not install by default with 'apt upgrade'.

After this was done. I ran update-grub and grub-install. With efi
mounted this worked and I could reboot with old working grub.

This is bug needs to be fixed.

Re: [Bug 1853369] Re: [19.10] Boot hangs at "loading initial ramdisk"

2020-05-21 Thread Fredrik Normann
I did an upgrade to day from 19.04 -> 19.10 -> 20.04 and now the system
still hangs. Tried all bios settings suggested in this thread. I'll try the
grub fix, from David Wilson, but disco packages is not available anymore. I
would say that this bug should have status updated.

[Bug 1879556] [NEW] plain 'csparse' lib file not in bionic version

2020-05-19 Thread Fredrik Sundqvist
Public bug reported:

I got a link error where the cmake linker wanted the csparse shared library.
Upon inspection I can see that for some reason it has been left out in the
bionic release
https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/libsuitesparse-dev

while it was there in the xenial version,
https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/libsuitesparse-dev

This is the library file:

libcsparse3.1.4 (= 1:4.4.6-1)

Cheers!

[Bug 1758512] Re: No virtual terminals (CTRL+ALT+F?) when no user logged in; erratic behaviour when user logged in.

2020-01-28 Thread Fredrik Öhrström
Reproducible on 18.04.3 LTS on a t460s Thinkpad. (Yes, enable function-
lock, or remember to press Fn + ctrl + alt + f3)

Do a normal login and press CTRL-ALT-F1. Now it switches to a virtual
console showing the boot log. Alas there is no way to switch back
to any other virtual console!! Reboot here is the only option.

Do a normal login and press CTRL-ALT-F1. Now it switches to a virtual
console with a login prompt. Nice. Do not press ALT-F1 or you will end up
in the boot log again...reboot. Press ALT-F2 to get back to the graphical
console.

Then I removed the comments for the two lines:
NAutoVTs=6
ReserveVT=6
in the file /etc/systemd/logind.conf
and rebooted.

Then it started to work better. F1 seems to be the gdm graphical login prompt.
F2 has the graphical desktop. F3 is the first virtual console terminal. I do
not know where to boot log went...

However wait after pressing the CTRL-ALT-Fx and ALT-Fx keys when switching
consoles.
If I switch between the consoles too fast,
them the X-process sometimes crashes and you get
the login screen again.

So I still see this bug on several machines here that runs Ubuntu 20.04
with Gnome Flashback. And I suspects this bug causes Updatemanager to
fail sometimes when the system autostarts it while the screensaver is
activated. (The program is running minimized, but unable to unminimize.
You have to close/kill it and manually start it)

[Bug 1853369] [NEW] [19.10] Boot hangs at "loading initial ramdisk"

2019-11-20 Thread Fredrik Normann
Public bug reported:

[19.10] Boot hangs at "loading initial ramdisk"

So after completing the upgrade from 19.04 to 19.10, my computer got
stuck on the solid purple Grub screen upon reboot. After getting into
the grub menu on next boot and booting from advanced options, I see that
it gets to "loading initial ramdisk" and then just hangs forever. I am
able to boot without issues on the old kernel (5.0.0-32-generic), but
not the one that got installed with the upgrade (5.3.0-18-generic).

Things I've tried based on what worked for other people who got this
problem (though I haven't found anyone who has it specifically with
19.10):

acpi=off

dis_ucode_ldr

disabling secure boot

recovery mode

making sure all packages are up to date

I'm kind of at a loss of what to do, other than just keep using the old
kernel. (which presumably might cause problems at some point?)

I'm posting this from Ubuntu 19.04, since upgrade from 19.04 to 19.10
resulted in unable to boot system.

[Bug 1585332] Re: Graphical snaps don't honour the desktop theme

2019-09-13 Thread Fredrik Sjögren
I get wrong mouse pointer in some snap apps but not all. Chromium and robo3t
has wrong pointer, IntelliJ IDEA has the correct one.
Any way to fix this?

com.canonical.desktop.interface - installed overlay-scrollbar
org.gnome.nautilus.desktop - this is where I'm stuck for now.

[Bug 1799266] Re: gnome-shell uses 44% cpu when simply moving windows

2018-10-23 Thread Fredrik Öhrström
Thank you! After reading through the reference bugs, it seems like you
have a bit of a handful here.

I have temporarily switch back to unity since the stuttering of movies
and general slugginesh due to gnome-shell is not bearable. But let me
know if you need testing and I will switch back and test any solutions
you have created.

[Bug 1791893] Re: Trailing garbage data when sending on an AF_PACKET socket

2018-10-23 Thread Fredrik Olofsson
This is not reproducible on Ubuntu 18.04 with kernel 4.15.0-38-generic
nor on Ubuntu 18.10. Guess it was some kind of hickup around 4.15.0-33..

[Bug 1799266] [NEW] gnome-shell uses 44% cpu when simply moving windows

2018-10-22 Thread Fredrik Öhrström
Public bug reported:

After doing a stock install Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS on an imac 27" 2010
8G ram, Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 870 @ 2.93GHz × 8

Simply moving a window around on the screen increases the cpu usage
by gnome-shell to 44%. When displaying a movie, totem takes 10%, gnome-shell
takes 22%.

[Bug 1771223] Re: Cannot connect to L2TP network

2018-05-16 Thread Fredrik Ålund
There firewall is ok. But I found that something got messed up when trying to
connect to the VPN from inside our office. The VPN should be used outside the
office of course, but I just wanted to test it. I don't know why, but it
started working after doing "apt purge --auto-remove network-manager-l2tp*
strongswan* xl2tpd && apt install network-manager-l2tp
network-manager-l2tp-gnome" and then NOT connect from inside our office. If I
did, I hade to run "apt purge..." again.
Anyway, it's working for me now. Thank you very much for your help.

Douglas, you solution worked fine for this VPN. Thank you! Now I will
continue on my office VPN (this was a third party VPN) that is even
stranger. Here I can connect when I'm at my office, but not from the
outside. Strange that L2TP is so hard to get up and running. Anyway,
thank you for your help.

I use 1.3.12 of xl2tpd and I cannot see any logs about "udp_xmit" in my log
file.
I have attached my log file where I replaced my vpn server IP.
The same VPN works fine from my other computer with Ubuntu 16.04. This computer
is upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04.

2018-05-14 Thread Fredrik Ålund
Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 18.04 I can no longer connect to L2TP VPNs. I
have tried building 1.3.12 of xl2tpd since I read reports about problems

[Bug 1748565] Re: Kernel regularly logs: Bluetooth: hci0: last event is not cmd complete (0x0f)

2018-04-20 Thread Fredrik Normann
I think this is related to suspend.

If I reboot my computer, and pair my headset, I get sound.

when I suspend my computer and try to turn on the bluetooth connection I
get the error message dmesg.

Ubuntu 17.04 did not have this problem, but 17.10 and 18.04 has.

[Bug 1690541] Re: Scrolled windows in update-manager are too small to read

2018-01-27 Thread Fredrik Jacobsson
Workaround to get some terminal output:

Disable automatic downloads of updated files. The key here is that you
need to show details on progress during the download phase as the bug
affects the download progress window too, otherwise you'll get the "one-
liner".

This bug show itself when:
displaying the download progress area
displaying the terminal output
showing the changes to a configuration file
when doing a Dist upgrade

2018-01-26 Thread Fredrik Jacobsson
Ahh, yes, the resize output area bug, I remember seeing this some months
(a year?) ago. Can't just remember where. Pity you can't browse to see
which bugs you have marked as affect you too.

The bug show itself when the program tries to add more visual space
vertically. The other way around, resizing down, and resizing
horizontally still works.

[Bug 1738517] Re: Update-manager does not expand details on progress on 17.10 & 18.04

2017-12-17 Thread Fredrik Jacobsson
Ah yes, that resize display area bug. The reason why you get just one
line of terminal output.

Here, this bug has been in effect for several releases now. (Ubuntu with
Gnome Flashback)

Workaround to get some terminal output:

Disable automatic downloads of updated files. The key here is that you
need to show details on progress during the download phase, otherwise
you'll get the "one-liner".

When having terminal output, try resize the window. It will resize down
but terminal output will never resize up, adding more lines. Resizing
sideways still works.

[Bug 1732474] Re: Closing lid with external monitor plugged in sends system to sleep

2017-11-29 Thread Fredrik Blomqvist
I have this exact same issue. If I turn off suspend on lid close in the
Gnome Tweak Tool I have sometimes been able to close the lid without
issues (as in, the laptop monitor turns off and the external one blinks
black for a second, cursor still visible). Since a couple of days back,
that stopped working as well (it worked for at least a few weeks before
then). If I close my lid now, the laptop locks and my external monitor
turns off. The only way to get out of the state is to open the lid, upon
which I am presented by the login screen.

I am using my onboard Intel graphics (combined with bumblebee and the
dedicated Nvidia card, but clearly Intel is the active one when this
happens).

Has there been any progress on this?

[Bug 871133] Re: Volume Step not changeable in Unity and GNOME desktops

How does one use this new feature? Tried to find instructions for it but

The same one that Nathan's patch used does not yield any difference in

[Bug 1687191] Re: psmouse broken for thinkpad touchpad on carbon x1 5th gen

2017-06-28 Thread Fredrik Wendt
@Anders: No, my problem is different from yours: both trackpoint and
touchpad is unusable. Some users claim this is fixed in psmouse Linux
kernel module psmouse, from version 4.0.12-rc4. My only workaround is to
use IMPS protocol, which works predictably (stable) with the drawback of
all multiple touchpoints (two finger scroll, for instance) not being
useable.

[Bug 1522675] Re: Warning messages about unsandboxed downloads

2017-06-06 Thread Fredrik Wendt
The same (or very similar) privilege issue comes into play when
downloading sources _as root_ under /root, such as with the command
'apt-get source linux-image-extra-4.10.0-19-generic'.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1522675 ***

I ran into this bug as well, as I tried to build a new Linux kernel as
root. Downloading the sources as a regular user worked though.

apt-get source linux-image-extra-4.10.0-19-generic

W: Download is performed unsandboxed as root as file
'linux_4.10.0-21.23.dsc' couldn't be accessed by user '_apt'. -

[Bug 1687191] [NEW] psmouse broken for thinkpad touchpad on carbon x1 5th gen

2017-04-29 Thread Fredrik Wendt
Public bug reported:

On my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Gen with Swedish keyboard, the
trackpoint and touchpad is defunct when running 16.04 LTS and 17.04 "out
of the box". You're essentially required to attach an external USB
connected mouse to complete (UI based) installation.

Workaround: I can get the trackpoint (red dot) and touchpad to work with
IMPS protocol. When loading the `psmouse` Linux kernel module, passing
arguments `protocol=imps`, clicks and moving the mouse around works.
Using the middle button for scrolling works - both by moving the
trackpoint, and by using the touchpad.

However, this disables two-finger scrolling using the touchpad.

I also own a X1 Carbon 3rd Gen which works just fine.

[Bug 1567697] Re: libcurl is missing http2 support

2017-04-29 Thread Fredrik Jonson
AFAICT http2 support is currently intentionally dropped from curl
because the dependency nghttp2-dev is not in the 'main' archive, but in
the community supported 'universe' archive.

Quoting the curl package changelog:

 curl (7.52.1-4ubuntu1) zesty; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- Drop dependencies not in main:
  + Build-Depends: Drop libssh2-1-dev, and libnghttp2-dev.
+ Drop libssh2-1-dev from binary package Depends.
  + debian/control: drop --with-nghttp2

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/curl/+changelog#detail_curl_7.52.1-4ubuntu1

So, to resolve this issue it would seem that Canonical first must be
convinced to take on official support for the nghttp2 package. Not sure
how we're supposed to do that?

Cheering from the sideline has obviously not worked very well for this
issue so far. :)

[Bug 1629554] Re: After pressing suspend button, resume never works.

2016-10-01 Thread Fredrik Öhrström
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

Suspending and then resuming by using the keyboard button has worked very
well on Ubuntu 14 LTS.
After upgrading to 16.04 LTS it has never worked.

The computer suspends, but no keyboard press can ever wake it again. As it
could before.
Pressing the power on/off button on the computer does not work either.
Holding it in long enough
  will force a reboot.
