[Bug 991822] Re: MP4 player does not mount

There is a FEDORA workaround at
http://us.generation-nt.com/answer/usb-storage-quirk-help-206256222.html
I am willing to do DSE A807 testing if you can translate this workaround into
step-by-step instructions and think it might work.

I think the method is to place the folder in places/home, right click and
open with the archive manager
this should detect that it is a software package and handle correctly
Or perhaps do some reading - official documentation or ubuntu forums for the
latest word on the subject
sometimes with Tarballs (fancy zip folder) you need to place it in the
correct place and ubuntu can be hardware specific so don't ask me
I haven't bothered trying it as my wife has that machine, good luck

[Bug 633852] Re: ACER D260 card reader not working in UNE 10

2010-10-14 Thread hamish darby
I understand the guilty device is a UB6250 from various posts, but I
think that may be a false presumtion as according to the ene technology
official site all their card readers can be used with various OS but
there is no UB6250 listed.

Others are on the same trail

2010-09-24 Thread hamish darby
Jeremy
I followed the instructions as best I could. another bug report was generated
automatically once I had the new kernel loaded and inserted the SD card but I
am not sure of the number. The card reader did not appear as a volume either
starting with the card in or out of the slot. Hope I have done the right thing
and it helps.

Jeremy

Acer has been quite awkward about the RAM in this model, their agent
will supply extra but void warranty if I instal it myself, so by net
brick is in the shop until next week.

I would love to test it and I think I MAY be able to follow your
instructions then, wish me luck.

I would love to participate in testing. this seems like an opportune time when
using a fresh instal.
I am new to compiling but eager to learn. Canonical support will not help this
little subscriber trial anything outside the official repository.
Where is the 2.6.37 you mention?

Oops, my mistake, to be specific, I am not sure of the name of the
component, just that the ENE Technology MR510 is the current model. When
I check lsusb I get ID 0cf2:6250 which is not identical to the bugs
above but is identical to bug 571402 another model of Aspire One with
Windows 7. I haven't been paying attention.

Textureglitch T H A N K Y O U

That is great news for me and eight others, now I need some real slow
newbie instructions on how to do what you said. I should go and ask the
tech who recommended I choose certified hardware.

2009-12-27 Thread hamish darby
Ah, nuts...It couldn't be that easy!
The DELL inspiron 1520 I am using has an external wi-fi catcher switch with
three positions.
0=Off, I=On, =scan for wireless networks.
I assumed the neutral poisiton was 'On', but the wifi actually works in Ubuntu
set to 'Off'.
to check for this status on your system try code
sudo rfkill list

which just information? How do I check that solution applies? I seem to

No driver appears in SYSTEM/ADMINISTRATION/HARDWARE DRIVERS but it looks like
there is a driver b44.
The wireless was working fine until power up yesterday.
The same router is working on wired connection without any changes.
There does not seem to be a key combination which disables WIFI in Ubuntu, I
tried Fn-F1 to Fn F12 just in case there was a bios switch but no luck and it's
enabled in bios.
I feel a bit reluctant to make any changes because it WAS working just a moment
ago - but it seems a new learning curve is waiting. all suggestions gratefully
recieved.
