[Bug 1860279] [NEW] Cannot drag a modal window.

2020-01-19 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

Hi,
this is the third place for my report I've found so far, the final I hope.

So:
I've experienced this issue for the first time with the Firefox:

1. Perform whatever which ends up with the "Save as" dialog window.
2. The dialog opens in the centre of the screen.

**What happened**
The modal window is not movable to other position.

**What did you expect to happen**
I can move the modal dialog box to a whatever position.
(as I was able before)

[Bug 1855753] [NEW] Cannot log in back via light-locker.

2019-12-09 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

Since a couple of weeks ago I've been experiencing strange issue with
light-locker.

When a screensaver (a blank screen) is activated my machine is locked, that's
fine.
However, when I try to unlock the machine and log in back to the system, it's
impossible. When the blank screen disappears and light-locker's window is back,
the screen is flashing, it's impossible to enter any character to the password
input field, the menu with users available is either not responding or if it's
open, it's blinking, not responding neither to the keyboard nor to the mouse.

The only solution is to go to the text console (Ctrl+Alt+F1) and kill
the light-locker process.

I've tried to investigate a little bit and my findings are as follows:
This thing happened when I was on the 4.15.0-70 kernel.
Then I tried to boot to the previous kernel 4.15.0-66 - everything seemed to be
OK.
On previous Friday I upgraded to the 4.15.0-72 kernel and today I'm
experiencing the same issue again.

It's a notebook Dell Latitude E7470, no a dock station, the second
monitor (marked as the Primary) connected via HDMI, notebook's display
is disabled.

[Bug 1327815] [NEW] Mixed up environment after english installation (unexpected translations)

2014-06-08 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

I had to install a new system on my pc so I've chosen Xubuntu 14.04 LTS.
For practical resons I've decided to use a full ENGLISH version, NO whatever
language clone, so:

Installation (from DVD) -> Welcome window -> a language selected: English ->
... Keyboard: English -> ... -> Time Zone(!!!): Europe/Prague.
Reboot.
I've copied a conky's configuration from other PC of mine (english as well).
Conky restarted.

To my great surprise, conky reads a date as follows:
Date: Po Ä en 02 (czech, wrong fonts, garbled, 'Pondělí Červen' probably
('Monday June' in czech) )

I felt a sense of betrayal si I opened an xterm and listed files:
... 57 čen 2 11:07 .Xauthority
... 1601 kvě 25 16:01 .Xdefaults
... 3519 kvě 27 12:45 .Xresources
... 7572 kvě 31 17:37 .xscreensaver
... 190 čen 2 11:07 .xsession-errors

čen = June
kvě = May

man - in english

Environment (menu items, icons, ...) - english
A current date/time within the clock widget: 08 čen, 18:30 - CZECH!!!

Locale:
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=en_US
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"

My problem:
When I've chosen the ENGLISH language I have really meant it seriously.
I have chosen the the ENGLISH intentionally and I've expected ALL stuff within
my system to be ENGLISH.

What I've done wrong?

[Bug 42178] Re: apt-get doesn't use the same pinning as synaptic

2011-12-27 Thread hawran
I was about to report a new bug and found a couple of similar ones here:

As there's a plethora of Firefox's upgrades nowadays (and of Thunderbird's of
course) I've locked a version within my Synaptic.
I expected the version being locked would not be upgraded without my explicit
action.
However, I got my FF 8 upgraded to FF 9 when I run sudo apt-get
upgrade/update.

What's wrong?
Does Synaptic lock packages on its own and the lower-level apps do not know
about it?

[Bug 909046] [NEW] Unable report a bug following the ubuntuweb: ReportingBugs

2011-12-27 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

I've just tried to report a bug following the instruction on
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs and again I have to say
it's nonsense:

Filing a general bug against no particular package
If you're not sure which package is affected by the bug, type ubuntu-bug in the
"Run Application" window and click Run. This will guide you through a series of
questions to gather more information about the bug. ...

When the apport-gtk window appears, I choose the "Other problem" and
then I got an error window "You need to specify a package or a PID. See
--help for more information." and that's all.

How am I supposed to report a bug against no particular package?
I mean, using the apps prepared?

[Bug 803812] [NEW] Places / Recent Documents > /Clear Recent Documents... does not work properly

2011-06-30 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

When I do Places / Recent Documents > /Clear Recent Documents ... (with
choosing the Clear button), the option "Recent Documents >" is greyed
(hence not available) and one would expect the list of "recent
documents" is empty.

However, when I open ONE (whatever) file (via Nautilus) and than go
again to the Places / Recent Documents >/Clear Recent Documents ... I
can see MORE than that last ONE file, there are some "relics" from a
previous list.

[Bug 713753] [NEW] zero size core file

2011-02-05 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

I've noticed a strange behaviour when I run a program that is supposed
to crash with a coredump file:

Is it expected behaviour?

[Bug 561442] Re: slideshow plugin is missing

I didn't try the package from webupd8 as I compile from source
It works fine with latest git master on Lucid

However not with Maverick
see here:

The clutter lib is not the same version

please continue on bugzilla

[Bug 561442] Re: slideshow plugin is missing

2010-12-02 Thread Matthias Hawran
The problem is that Maverick has a 2.11.x package which was still an
intermediate serie before stable 2.12.x was released, which you can get
here:

http://www.webupd8.org/2010/09/gthumb-2120-stable-has-been-released.html

2.12.x has the slideshow

and the process finished as follows:
...

BraseroGrowisofs called brasero_job_error
BraseroGrowisofs finished with an error
BraseroGrowisofs asked to stop because of an error

BraseroGrowisofs stopping
BraseroGrowisofs got killed
Session error : An image could not be created (brasero_burn_record

What is wrong?

PS I'd say that the first bunch of errors is something related to
"renaming unix-like names to windows usable ones', which is strange as I
had chosen "NOT to rename for using in windows" before the process has
started ...

[Bug 668676] [NEW] gnomebaker keeps crashing

[Bug 621832] [NEW] lubuntu - how to setup a proxy? (not a bug)

2010-08-21 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

I apologise for any inconvenience, I just couldn't find where to ask for new(?)

[Bug 621689] [NEW] lubuntu - lxrandr does not honour my settings

2010-08-21 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lxrandr

My monitor settings are lost after each restart.
Lxrandr keeps the most highest resolution, however it means the refresh

I need to setup smallest resolution (and higher refresh frequency) after every

It does not work even if I use sudo lxrandr.

[Bug 603972] [NEW] md5sum error within lubuntu 10.04 image

2010-07-10 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

Hi, I've just tried to install the latest lubuntu and got some strange
error:

I've downloaded the image from this site(taken from http://lubuntu.net):
http://people.ubuntu.com/~gilir/lubuntu-10.04.iso.
I've burnt it, reboot with it and then run the "check the install disk" option.
After a while I've got a message that there's some wrong file (unfortunately
without info which one).

So I mounted it and then ran md5sum using md5sum.txt within the cd directory
and got this:
/cdrom $ md5sum -c md5sum.txt|egrep -v 'OK'
./isolinux/boot.cat: FAILED
md5sum: WARNING: 1 of 126 computed checksums did NOT match

Therefore I downloaded it again, ran md5sum on the iso image - OK.
I burnt it again (slowly) and ran md5sum using md5sum.txt file ang got it again:
/cdrom $ md5sum -c md5sum.txt|egrep -v 'OK'
./isolinux/boot.cat: FAILED
md5sum: WARNING: 1 of 126 computed checksums did NOT match

What's wrong?

[Bug 94130] Re: HTTPS over proxy fails

2010-07-08 Thread hawran
I'm experiencing this problem as well.
I've just tried to report some bug within audacious and got that "Cannot
connect to crash database, please check your Internet connection".
Which is ridiculous as I've been using the same internet connection (www,
strems, ...) all the time.

I'm in my office, behind a proxy.
I've set up that proxy's settings via "System -> Preferences -> Network Proxy"
and all works for me.

For more info, please see the report I'd got by apport-cli -f -p apport-
gtk (I hope this is a dorrect package for the ubuntu-bug binary) ...

[Bug 250347] Re: Gthumb won't display large images in the crop window

2010-03-04 Thread Matthias Hawran
Here's my experience with the "ProblemExample" picture

I'm running Karmic

Gimp 2.6.7: opens fine

EOG 2.28.1: opens fine, only the far right part is blurred (yellow
person cut)

Firefox 3.5.8: same, here the far right part is black (yellow person
cut)

gthumb 2.10.x (I've got a repository compiled version):
- the whole picture opens fine
- in the crop tool, the image is completely blurred

gthumb 2.11.x:
- like EOG, opening is fine with far right blurred
- crop tool has the same problem, the image is completely blurred

Note that 2.10.x is obsolete and the developer(s) only works on the new
2.11.x rewritten serie.

Plus there's no upstream bug related.

[Bug 372132] Re: "Create Document" Templates difficult to use

2009-06-19 Thread Matthias Hawran
I agree with Sancho. This is definitely a paper cut.
The risk-of-tons-of-useless-items-in-template-menu is really NOT justified
IMHO, compared to the bad user experience it gives, as reported here.
I can testify the same with user used to this behavior and bothered.

It's really not a big deal to at least have the 3 (or 4) most used OOo
documents: word proc, spreadsheet, presentation and drawing.
How much ton of useless item will I have ??

And for the *really* bothered users (I'm talking about geeks), they'll
know where to go to remove any so-called-annoying entries.

[Bug 323912] [NEW] Enabled Adblock Plus causes a crash of Firefox on some page

2009-02-01 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Go to a specific URL with a video:
http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/ivysilani/ct24-zive/

Then try to change a quality ("Nizka kvalita" or "Stredni kvalita" or "TV

http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/ivysilani/ct24-zive/?streamtype=WM2
http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/ivysilani/ct24-zive/?streamtype=WM3

With Adblock Enabled, Firefox crashes.

Hi Pedro,
Well, I'd say it doesn't happen so often, however I've just found more than one

you need whatever, please, send some instructions how to get it as I'm
not much familiar with all that stuff, :-)

[Bug 209794] Re: "Clear Private Data" does not clear private data from the Awesome Bar's Rich Results list

2009-01-12 Thread hawran
Hi Mackenzie,
For starters, there WAS NOT zcat's comment at that time I added my one.

Additionally, there have been two different things together,
unfortunately:

1) not clearing the history data - the issue has been solved apparently

2) taking data from bookmarks as hints when writing a url into the Awesome
Address Bar.
I'm pretty sure this functionality had not been there before the 3... version
of FF and I don't like without possibility to switch it of. That about:config
hack is NOT A PROPER SOLUTION.

However, as I wrote above, see
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462831#c9 ...

[Bug 209794] Re: "Clear Private Data" does not clear private data from the Awesome Bar's Rich Results list

2009-01-11 Thread hawran
Hi Vtrain,
I might agree with you that the history will be cleaned properly after one have
cleared private data.

However, I do NOT think that 'changing a setting within about:config' is a
proper solution.
When I set it to the value of 0, I cannot see the history at all!

What I do not really want is showing urls from my bookmarks but urls
I've seen recently (the REAL history).

Well, I think that Marco's comment (please, see
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462831#c9 ) reads we should
wait for the version 3.1. I hope.

Cheers,
hawran

[Bug 240063] Re: DNS servers disappear on restart

2008-10-25 Thread hawran
Well, the problem is I need to use two internet connections:
1) via DHCP
2) with static IPs

I've done a couple of further tests and my findings are as follows:
*) I've removed my lines from /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf as they've been useless
*) I've added two DNS IPs for my static connection into
/etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail

Results:
1) I get DNS IP's into the /etc/resolv.conf file for every network
reconfiguration.
2) When I'm using DHCP, the DNS IP's static addresses have no influence as
they're placed after the DNS IPs being received from DHCP.
3) The GUI 'Network Manager' doesn't refresh its info properly after network
reconfiguration. Namely when I change the network settings to DHCP it doesn't
show any DNS IP. When I re-run the applet again the DNS info is correct.

[Bug 280238] [NEW] My FF has crashed out of the blue (not for the first blue)

2008-10-08 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I've had a quick look into a core file using gdb and it's within some xulrunner.
If I recall it correctly it was a reason for a couple of previous crashes.

[Bug 240063] Re: DNS servers disappear on restart

2008-10-06 Thread hawran
The problem is I haven't configured anything within the interface file
and I don't want to. Why?

As I said, I need two network configurations:
1) one with DHCP
2) one with the static address

AFAIK the network manager is supposed to maintain my different network
settings, however, my latest findings are that it DOES NOT (to the
contrary to my previous comment on 2008-09-24,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-
manager/+bug/240063/comments/9 ).

I still need to add the DNS servers for my 'Static Settings' after every
network reconfiguration! Even when I have saved it. As I know what's
going on (I mean I know what to do to make it working) I'm able to
connect to the internet. However, I don't think it's acceptable for
anyone who doesn't know anything about it.

It's a BUG a it's really annoying.

[Bug 274961] Re: Clear Private Data DOES NOT WORK

2008-09-27 Thread hawran
Hi,
I've just read some info about AwesomeBar on the web and I think I got it. When
I write a word (or part of it) into the address line, it searches through my
history AND my bookmarks so I got that list of addresses that I had not
expected (after I'd cleaned my history out).

In this case it means everything seems to be OK and I apologise. Sorry
for that!

Take care,
hawran

I can see SOME browsing history.
And SOME bookmarks.

Should I set up any settings I don't know about?

[Bug 274961] Re: Clear Private Data DOES NOT WORK

2008-09-27 Thread hawran
Uh! Does it show my bookmarks? To be honest, I don't like this concept.
However, It might be just my problem.
However, I've got a lot of bookmarks and I don't see all of them within that
list.

Not to mention I can see here addresses I DO NOT have within my
bookmarks, they're the links I'd visited a while ago.

[Bug 274961] Re: Clear Private Data DOES NOT WORK

2008-09-27 Thread hawran
I suppose that clicking on the symbol (please, see the picture attached) at the
end of the address line I got a list of previous addresses visited which is the
browsing history. If it is not, I'm sorry.
However, I'm used to getting that list being empty AFTER I choose Clear Private
Data.

PS The same problem in my windows xp.

[Bug 274961] [NEW] Clear Private Data DOES NOT WORK

2008-09-26 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

I've wanted to clean out all crap I'd had within my Firefox so I've chosen
Tools / Clear Private Data as usually (please, see the picture attached). To my
great surprise, some data (browsing history) supposed to be removed are still
within my FF.
I'm pretty sure that I got those data cleaned out witn the previous versions...
What's wrong?

[Bug 240063] Re: DNS servers disappear on restart

2008-09-24 Thread hawran
Hi all,
I've been working recently with the solution II) from my last post: hawran
wrote on 2008-09-15 (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/240063/comments/7
) and my findings are as follows:

I needed to put my DNS servers into a 'Network Location' that I'd saved
for my connection with a static IP.

Having the DNS server within the /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf file, I'm able
to reconfigure my network access according to my network abilities at
the moment (either with DHCP or with a static IP).

Of course, I need to reconfigure it after every reboot, however, as long
as I'm able to connect after reconfiguring I'm satisfied with it.

Regards,
hawran

PS I think this information worth being written in a documentation as it
is REALLY a big inconvenience.

[Bug 240063] Re: DNS servers disappear on restart

2008-09-08 Thread hawran
I'd like to know if anything is going on with this error.
I've thought that saving the internet settings as 'a location' should have
helped, it didn't.
I've been told to 'Configure your DNS servers in /etc/resolve.conf', however,
there's a line on the very top within the file which goes like: 'don't edit
manually as it'll be changed by resolvconf' (or something like that).

So, I've upgraded to the last version of Ubuntu and it's UNUSABLE at the moment.
Should I just unistall it and forget Ubuntu?

Regards,
hawran

I've come across a couple of freezengs during:

I've found some workarounds (

2008-05-13 Thread hawran
Hi Greg,

Well, I can use your source list, no problem.

However, I've got a question regarding '... please attempt the dist-upgrade
again'. Are you suggesting that I should run 'apt-get dist-upgrade' from a
command line?
I don't upgrade using the command line, I use synaptic and it doesn't show any
'distribution upgrades availalable' but security (or recommended) patches.
Hence my questions are as follows:

WHY should I use the 'apt' application now?
WHAT is wrong with my previous upgrade?
Have I DONE anything wrong? WHAT?

Regards,
peter

[Bug 227318] Re: Strange errors during my Gutsy's update

2008-05-12 Thread hawran
Hi Greg,
I'm sending my sources.list.
As for your second question, I started with the 7.04 version a year ago and
sometimes this year (it might be in February) I upgraded to 7.10. However, I've
done some successful updates since then, that was the reason I was surprised by
that error.

Regards,
peter

2008-05-07 Thread hawran
Hi Greg,
Please, see attached the tar.gz file of the files from the
/var/log/dist-upgrade/ directory.
I'm surprised a little bit as those files have 'date modified' sometime in
February...

hawran

[Bug 227318] [NEW] Strange errors during my Gutsy's update

2008-05-06 Thread hawran
Public bug reported:

Hi,
I am not able to find any solution on the internet so I've decided to report a
bug (sorry for that):
I haven't been updating my Ubuntu Gutsy for more than a week so I've decided to
do it today. To my great surprise I've got a bunch of errors:

Then I've tried to install the rest of updates and I've got similar
errors again:
